  • This 5-ingredient sandwich bread recipe is all you need. This bread has a perfect crumb texture and is soft and delicious. It pairs nicely with jams and homemade fillings for breakfast and evening snacks.
    Ingredients
    500 gms all-purpose flour
    35 gms castor sugar
    8 gms instant yeast
    300 ml milk
    45 gms softened butter
    Method
    1. In a bowl, add all-purpose flour and sugar and whisk the two.
    2. In another bowl, add milk at room temperature, mix yeast and transfer the mixture to the flour bowl.
    3. Knead it into a rough dough and then add butter.
    4. Transfer the dough to the surface and start kneading the dough for 10-15 minutes until it is smooth.
    5. After 10-15 minutes, check the gluten window and keep it in the bowl, cover it with a cling or a towel and let it proof for 1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
    6. Once there is a first rise, roll the dough with the rolling pin according to your mould dimensions and fold it tightly tucking in the corners.
    7. Put it in the pan, brush it with water, cover and let it proof again for 40-45 minutes depending on the temperature.
    8. Brush it with milk and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
    9. Let it cool on the rack beit down.
