- I take my first ride on my 2009 Honda XR650L motorcycle after bringing it home and mounting new mirrors on it. I just purchased the dual sport street and trail motorcycle for $3500 with approximately 4100 miles on it. I am a little rusty at riding it, but take it for a nice street ride and do some hill climbing. I hope you enjoy the video.

Nice Purchase... Great machine... enjoy every second riding the mighty Honda XR650L. Great video and Ty for sharing.
Thank you Marty. I am having a great time. I have a new video coming out tomorrow where I take it trail riding by the river and on a homemade race track. I am so glad that I bought it. Best purchase ever. You are right. It is mighty. 💪
Congratulations on the Honda! Really nice bike. Look forward to more videos on both Honda and Ryker. You really didn’t look rusty on that dirt, very natural. Stay safe.
Thanks Bill. I really love the Honda. I have a really fun Honda video coming out on Wednesday the 8th. I take a ride to the fire department with my friend on a Ninja. I show the fire department and some Harley Davidson motorcycles. The following Wednesday, my wife rides the Ryker and I ride the Honda through the country. Multiple cameras so you see what we both see. Lots more to come.
Great find! Great bike!
Thanks Joe. I got lucky finding this one. I am having so much fun riding it. I feel like a kid again. I have a new Honda video coming out April 24th if your interested. Thank you for commenting and watching.
Love the Honda Mark ... Looks like it's got heaps of Grunt! It brings back memories of my Honda XL500 Thumper I had in the eighties ... I wish I still had it! Ryde safe buddy 👍😁🤘🙏 Beanie
Thanks Beanie. I feel like a kid again. I am having so much fun. I bet that Thumper XL500 was amazing.
@@budyser365 I know what you mean Mark & it was ... From memory I think it was around the mid eighties! It had the Silver & Black Tank with Red Pin Stripping ... The important thing is we're both still riding mate! 👍😁🙏
That looked like a whole lotta fun! I genuinely smiled when you just had to hit the hill a second time. I won’t lie, mildly jealous 😂. I absolutely love Honda dirt bikes! Once the apocalypse has passed your gonna have so much fun. Your plans for the channel sound great too. I’m busy thinking how to make good content for the next wee while. Although I managed to get out around town with Ripley yesterday. I had a few (essential) errands to run, so I took the Ryker instead of the the car. Of course I took the the cameras and documented post apocalyptic Hawick. I hope you guys are safe and well (and sane!). Your pal, George.
Thanks George. You always have to hit the hill a 2nd time. The kid coming out in me. My mind goes back to 12 years old sometimes. I have a fun video next week when my friend and I visit a fire department and I show you the fire department and some Harley motorcycles. The week after that my wife rides the Ryker and I ride the Honda. You will see what we both see. Multiple cameras. I am glad that you got out on Ripley. Any excuse to ride is a good one. 😀
budyser365 That sounds awesome I’ll look forward to those. Hopefully I’ll get the odd opportunity to get out like that. I’ve got a couple of things coming up that I think you’ll like. 😁
@@TheBorderRyker I always look forward to your videos George. I am going to watch your new one in a few minutes. 😛😀👍
You will love it. I bought a new 2018 XR650L at the end of 2018. It's awesome! Been on a lot of rides with it, several over a hundred miles mostly off road after swapping the gas tank out for a 4.7 gallon Clarke tank. Tons of power and low end torque and it handles well on the two lane highways too. Planning a couple over night Oregon Back Country Discovery Route trips this summer with the 650. Motorcycle riding is my way of decompressing and relaxing. Not much better than getting on the bike and getting out away from people.
Thank you Craig. I am having a great time so far. One of the best investments that I made. I know what you mean about decompressing. I have been going up the mountain trails and sitting in the woods just listening to nature. Thanks for the comment. I am glad you are loving yours also.
I love my 2013 XR ....Make damn sure you toss that narrow front sprocket in the trash and get a sprocket that uses all the spline length. If not you'll need a new output shaft soon enough.. They have wider sprockets cut to mount right on, Ive had to use 450R-650R sprockets and just grind a small bevel on the case side so it slides on another millimeter for tight fit. I love my Big Red Pig! I suggest the oil cooler mod for extra long life.
@@llshamelessll Thank you for all the good advice. I am loving my Honda a lot and want it to last as long as possible. I am going to look into the better front sprocket.
They are a nice looking bike very trust worthy .I think the model is the Hymalya
Nice man!
Thank you boarder989. I am glad that you enjoyed it.
I have a 2007 Honda XR 650 L that I picked up A couple of years ago. thought I was going to use it on our trails in Michigan but it turns out that this bike is more for two track or dirt roads and country roads than it is for our single track Michigan dirtbike trails that have quite deep sand in about 85% of our trails I ripped the 650 L through them and decided it was just too heavy and to nice to put into the woods and went back to a Yamah426 WR m which is way better for our type of trails in Michigan. big red is always going to be with me though it is my adventure bike it’s great for camping and carrying luggage for those country adventures where you’re not on the Sandy single track trails great bike you’re going to love it.
Thank you. I am having a great time with it. It is a tank in the woods. Please see my Orange Lake video and you will see me use it as a tank lol. I really love the bike but it is really heavy which could be good and bad but I am getting used to it. I am having a lot of fun riding the streets with it also. Excellent road bike. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
I laughed at first: I thought you bought the XRL for your 4’8” wife. I thought for sure you were trying to kill her.
That would definitely kill her lmao. I could barely sit on it and touch the ground and I am 6 foot 3. She would need a step stool and a jumping start. Your comment made my day Kilwager. Thank you for watching.
I really miss Grandma and Grandpa! I haven't been near their old house in about 5 years. I last drove down there when I was learning to drive, before I got the car. (Recently paid off my car, thankfully.)
Didn't we shoot fireworks in the woods where you were riding?
Glad you like the new bike!
I miss my parents too. The street is not the same. I am glad that you paid your car off. That always feels good. We shot tons of fireworks off in those woods lol. I Drank lots of beer there too 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
That looks like a really nice Bike! Glad to see you enjoying yourself on it, looks like fun!
Thanks Grepid. I really like it. It has been a long time since I was on a dirt bike. I feel like a little kid again. Thanks for stopping by.
Does it have bar risers on it? I'm looking to buy one of these and I'm also about 6'1... Did the reach on to the handle bars feel good?
No bar risers but it feels very comfortable. I don't think you need them and I am 6'2". It can be a little hard to get on but the bike lowers to a very comfortable riding height when you sit on it.
@J Ashley I have one I'm the same size as you. You don't need them but they are cheap if you need em.
If you ride much dirt you'll find the bar risers a very good mod for when standing and riding. The stock bars are too low for me to have a proper position. I got the 2 inch rise and wish I got the 3 inch rise. Im 6'4" ex motocrosser of open class bikes so Im no noob... For what its worth.
what size is the hande bars
I am not sure. The previous owner put them on. Sorry that I couldn't help you.
the Royal Enfield is a very low seating bike 411 cc
I will have to look into that for my wife. She can only ride a 3 wheeler at the moment because she is only 4 foot 8 inches. I appreciate the info.
Get your wife a Honda Hunter when its available. She can handle that and will love you for it.
Great vd (y) sub
Thank you so much. I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Too big
It is a very tall sitting bike and a little heavy. It is a little hard for me to get on to and I am 6 foot 2 inches. I have to say though it takes me anywhere that I want to go. One of the heaviest dual sports that I owned but I really like it.
