  • This is how I got more pressure and volume out of my Explorer 5.0l power steering pump. I don't have any numbers to share. Only that it made a big difference in my steering with the RAM assist and 40" tire's.

    Thank you for this! I'm going to have to figure out how to do similar on my Jeep WK pump; it's a bit different than these, but you gave me a starting point!

    Finally! I hate how stiff my steering is

    Would I be able to achieve the same with a reducer on a smaller hose. I’m lookin to put in a power steering cooler. But it’s a 5/16 fitting not the standard 3/8. What’s ur thoughts

    Ive pulled apart several later 4.0 c3 pumps and they dont have the node sticking out, its a smooth shuttle valve. I imagine they have a smaller hole than these too

      I have found that the node was on 97 and up as a rule. I think the node is there to limit flow in a stock application.

    I did this to my F250. Steerings way better when its not moving. The pump is loud now. Lets see how long its lasts. Did ur pump get loud?

      My pump did not get loud. Is it possible you have air in the system?

    Can I do this without removing the pump and/or draining the PS fluid?

    Question on a stock application my explorer has a new rack and pinion, reman pump, steering assist is lacking at idle, would just removing the restrictor nipple keep the pressure the pressure the same but help with the lack of flow? Not trying to blow out a new steering rack from excess pressure.

      I'm not exactly sure. It couldn't hurt it. You may consider putting an underdrive pulley on it to make the pump spin faster at an idle

      Any idea where I can get one?

    So a year later is there any down side to this mod or still working good?

    I have a 5.0 from a explorer and a crown vic front clip. The steering is kind of hard you think this may solve my problem?

    How did ypu get the shuttle valve out, Mines stuck.

    • @Low_Key_Offroad
      @Low_Key_Offroad  Před rokem

      You should be able to pop it out fairly easy with a small punch. Not sure why yours is stuck.

      @Low_Key_Offroad honestly, I think its the "reman" pumps I'm getting, there rust residue inside. I did get it out through the bottom with a punch, shouldn't these move freely?

    • @Low_Key_Offroad
      @Low_Key_Offroad  Před rokem

      @@VileMisanthropy yes it should move freely.
