Getting a ton of hate on this video for whatever reason. Yes. I know I repeat myself a lot, reason for that is because people always miss something in videos and I have very severe ADHD and ADD so I can’t help myself sometimes.
Next, the video wasn’t meant to degrade my brother or father, they both thoroughly enjoyed the video and said it was great.
The kit is 12-14 years old. I don’t know the exact year it was made… So if I get the numbers mixed sorry…
The items are also old and most of them need replaced, and some of the items are very cheap, nothing wrong with that if they work.
I filmed this more for fun than anything else and will be doing a follow up video.
I liked it nice kit
Don't sweat the haters, pal. You did just fine ! 👍
The best part of this video is that your dad loved you guys enough to put together a kit for some kind of God willing unforseen issue. Something is better than nothing. My dad wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire that's only thing that would save me. The best part is you all can sit and watch this video together and laugh make improvements. I think this video was awesome on many different angles. Great job!
@@Foxfire-traditional Exactly! We were talking about this just a little bit ago. He will straight up tell ya that some of the stuff wasn’t optimal at all and that he wasn’t gonna spend more than a certain amount, but it’s fun to see his what his mentality was back then!
This was a great video and really cool, ignore the haters and keyboard commandos. You’re doing a solid job and that kit was cool to see. Thank you.
Nice retro look at the emergency / survival gear from so many years ago. It shows how much your dad believed that every youthful driver should have survival gear in their vehicle for emergencies. Outstanding video.
14 years ago that was a well thought out kit. I’m 58. Should’ve seen our stuff 40 years ago. Lol. Times change as does gear. Great video
Your dad was right on it. Great kit in my eyes
Be fun to see your complete from scratch 2024 version of a truck kit.
You should do an overnighter with that kit! That would be a cool video! 👍
sounds to me your dad is a smart dad and a good dad
There's nothing better than going down memory lane. You both must have a wonderful dad to be concern about your well being. You keep saying the word "cheap", we never knew there have to be a certain price or number to survive the unknown. No doubt what's inside that bag that your dad had prepared with pride, may not be to today's standard but we are very sure if needed, your brother would have done well with its content. Never under estimate the ability of an individual to perform miracles to survive. One of many words of wisdom from Mors Kochanski. Maybe it's time to do a survival overnight video of you & your brother conquering the unknown with minimal gear. Stay safe mate. Cheers from Australia.
Cool video Jake , really enjoyed !! Thank you 👍
Do an overnighter with the kit
Thanks for sharing, fun to look back !
Always interesting to see kits like this, to see what was packed into them at the time. Great video!!
Had a great time today at the expo
Definitely cool ideas. I like the blanket, water, and food. I usually carry a budget sleeping bag in my vehicle during the winter. Definitely not convenient but it's colder where I live.
Not bad, you got the basics. Nice😊
I understand the repeating yourself I do that in my videos you just keep on what you doing brother I think you're doing a great job
Cool video 📹 always interesting to see survival kits.
It was definitely interesting, thanks for watching!
That mountain house meal could still be goid if the package wasnt compromised
I think it had a little tear in it. It was hard as a rock in some spots lol
Pretty cool to see what others put in kits, especially 12 years ago. Is it the best kit ? No, Would it work in an emergency situation? Absolutely ! I think your dad did a good job for what he had available years ago !!!
I have went back and looked at some of my kits over the years and thought to myself... why did I put that in there ? LOL
I still keep a bag like that in my car
Your pops is a smart man!
I bet big money that mountain house is still totally fine, life on those things are normally like 25 years
I thought it would still be good to, but it had a small hole in the bottom and I didn’t catch it until after this video lol
Great family heirloom jake but when are we gonna see you take the mark of a true survivalist and navigate a stormy winter night with minimal gear and live to tell the tale?
Man been there and done that more times than I can count😆
Alright I believe ya buckeye
@@neilleggatt7729 Check out some of my other videos, I do quite a few overnighters!
I did and they are great I need more just sayin
@@neilleggatt7729 Lol wait until you see what’s in store 2 weeks from now!
Don't toss that meal that you said was "no good anymore". They test old, old, stock at Mountain House every year and now they know that they will keep for 35 years, so it has lots of time left on it. I disagree with you on the sharpener. I've been using one just like it for over 10 tears to keep an edge on a 6" Rapala filleting knife. I works great!
The meal had a small hole in the bottom so it was compromised. Those sharpers work pretty good one filet or pocket knives, never really did me any good on a belt knife tho
I think mine needs an update!
Weird, some of the items look brand new while some look 100 years old.
The stuff at the bottom was pretty well protected
I want to know if anyone has ever caught a fish on those gimmicky “Survival fishing kits”. 😅
I’ve caught a bunch off of hand reels. Basically the same thing just a different container
Yes I do it all the time.
I must be omly person who hates Moras
That entire video was entirely insulting to whoever made the kit. They had a real good start point, covered the 5 cs. The only real mistake was not routine checks for items that may degrade over time. Pick an age 16 or 14..clearly the dad note...is now a family kit...ok. You don't know why they wrapped duct tape around a metal container?
It’s funny that you say it was insulting when my father enjoyed the video. It was just a fun unboxing, quit trying to read so hard into something that isn’t there or true…..
How was this insulting?
It's my kit and the video was great, and I knew what I was doing big time when it came to survival.
