Shane was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair. He is the author of several award-winning books, the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.
Hannah just graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. Her future aspirations include attending graduate school and owning a goat sanctuary. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog.
Shane and Hannah have been dating for 3+ years and living together in Minneapolis for a year. On June 15th, 2019 they got engaged!!!! Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.

Hearing Liz speak Polish brings back memories of three classmates that I had for most of elementary school. Two of them immigrated from Poland with their families and the third was born in Canada to Polish parents. They often spoke Polish to each other and I always thought that it sounded beautiful! Unfortunately, like kids often do, they only taught us the "naughty" words, lol!
Obviously language barriers has resulted in charades. 😂😂. Liz you’re my hero.

is Shane just as funny off camera ? I only ask because I literally belly laugh so loud I find you hilarious. if I was with him as much as Hannah is I'd have a constant aching belly from all the stitches that id get from laughing. maybe thats what Hannahs tummy problem is?

I have a chronic pain issue that cannot be solved and a diagnosis of borderline disorder (sometimes I think too much about myself and how I am and will always be a burden to everyone...) so I'm treated with opioids and some things to keep away the anxiety when it shows and I'm not even at my 30s, but to see you both is TRULY inspiring. I also have a girlfriend that means the world to me and we've been together for 8 years now. Hannah is Shane's angel and I'm happy to have my own angel too. I just have to kick out my insecurities and keep going for as long as I can. Hugs to both!

I just started watching your content recently and I just want to say, she is precious and you are awesome. I understand that people shouldn't look at a disability as a negative but some people do (as shown in your Dr.Phil episode) and the fact that she can look past that, while it should not be necessary to commend that, I still will because it shows good character. And you sir, are so funny! It makes so much sense why you two are together, thank you for sharing your positivity!

My family is Czech, my grandmother & her family spoke fluent Czech. At a reunion in Shiner, Tx this gentleman told my grandmother she was speaking Moravian Czech & are many dialects. The hotels will provide you with guides for whatever language and interest at low cost, of course also for people in a wheelchair. There are wheelchair taxis like your own car if you get stuck or the weather changes. A big part of the city center has no more cobbled stones on the sidewalks. They do keep many ancient cobbled stones on roads.
