Nice review! Very good. That's a lot of play! Like it. Yeah, it is what it is. A lot of fun runs. Tamiya has actually made a lot of Stadium Trucks/Truggies before this (The Falcon STs for an example). The Mad Bull chassis is a DT-01 Buggy Chassis. The first was the Fighter Buggy RX. It's the last of the Hopper-line. (first was the Grasshopper/Hornet chassis, second was the Grasshopper II/Super Hornet Chassis). It's not a identical GH2 body. It's modified to the DT-01. Great to see the Mad Bull. Good review. Thanks for sharing. Gonna check out your channel.

With those tires I wouldn't expect much control. But I think you could install wheels from other kits, like the Raising Fighter? This would give you much better control, add to that an adjustable joint/knuckle linkage between the servo and steering, and you got yourself one a lot less mad bull.
Also I'd install rubber stoppers on the front damper rods so that the wheel travel never goes past your accepted range. This will definitely limit any unwanted camber and toe at the front.
This car is pretty cheap! .. I just bought one for myself on ebay. I'm also curious about it, and about what the Tamiya designers were smoking at the time.

Looks like the same chassis as my Mad Fighter. I checked the steering linkage on it to see if it’s loose like yours and it’s not. The link between my servo saver and bell crank is snug. Maybe your linkage got bent or the holes are getting worn from use? Those big tires have a lot more mass than the little ones on the Mad Fighter which might explain why it’s getting loose. Ball joints (like you mentioned) should fix it.

The speedo has a LiFe cutoff which is way to late for Lipo, running lipos should use external voltage watch. Your servo saver has some play on the servo, probaby plastic gear servo. That adds to the slack as well.

    What's a better kit?

Martin It's not that it's a bad kit by any means, it's just such a strange machine. It's almost "toy" like, rather than "performance" if you know what I mean, which is what I think Tamiya was going for. The Bull is still a blast to drive and build. I think it's one you kind of take at face value and have fun with. I hope this helps you.

Many thanks Jay. I dio have one BNIB, built it but never ran it. I am interested in a budget rock crawler kit, any recommendations?

Martin The only crawling I've done was with a Traxxas Summit, it wasn't really my thing.

Probably not, I've got my last name shortened. I'm square in the middle of the country if that helps.
