  • I'm sure many retail workers can understand the horror I had to go through. But we at least we can be proud that we don't have American customer service, thank god that stuff doesn't work in the UK!

    I work at Tesco in Liverpool and if we don’t have something customers want I’m supposed to tell people where the closest Tesco is but that like 8 separate directions away so I tell them about the Sainsbury’s just around the corner, a 2 minute walk away 😂 I got pulled into a ‘meeting’ with my manager when he found out I was doing this, not gonna stop because we are right by the Albert dock and so we get a lot of tourists who don’t speak English well, why would I confuse them with a lot of confusing directions when I could say ‘that orange shop around the corner might sell what you want’?

    I have ME. Though we are the iPhone version of a friend in that we run out of battery super fast and unpredictably, it is also true that we are great guys :) living with this illness for a long time seems to often turn people into deeply compassionate, wise people, who can get joy out of the small things. We won't survive long away from our beds (the iPhone equivalent of phone chargers!) so we can't often go out with friends, but we are well worth visiting

    Worked in a supermarket. Was restocking soft drinks. Customer comes up to me and asks where the Coke is. The Coke has 3 shelving bays dedicated to it. And a giant sign above announcing to all who can see where the Coke is. And said Coke was right behind me such that the customer was looking at both me and it as they asked.
    After a very brief dumbfoundedness, I took 1 step to the side and did my most enthusiastic implicitly sarcastic jazz hands towards the colossal bays of Coke behind me.
    The customer apologised for their blindness, I imagined them on fire and got a story out of it.

      Invisible medical conditions frequently cause a form of panic blindness, usually from sensory overload in my case. During an attack the shelves look like 2D jumbles of colour and I can barely see two feet in front of me while fighting to breathe. In that situation I am forced to ask for help, but now knowing what a burden doing that is on the employee I should just stay home and shop online instead. Retail workers are so busy as it is with everything they have to get done to please their unreasonable bosses (I know because I was one before I got sick). Thanks for clearing up once and for all my concern that I was possibly being a bother. I hope you have a great day.

    • @PlebNC
      @PlebNC Před měsícem

      @@celticphoenix2579 Mate, don't blame me for being unable to see the invisible. The customer didn't have sensory overload or any form of panic attack. I should know, I get them too so I know the signs and we have training for that sort of thing.
      She just wasn't looking very hard.
      So keep your patronising BS to yourself and don't offload your unrelated grievances onto me.

If you can't handle the internet then you have no place being on it!
      For the record: when someone thanks you for something, the correct response is "you are welcome" or "no problem" of "any time" or silence. You going off like a limpet mine because a stranger took a positive life lesson from your post is not acceptable or appropriate.

    when i did work, at the former gallery space for where I've been at for most of my adult life, there'd be people who'd show up during my lunch break and insist on asking me questions about things like, the number of magnets in a two, four or six pack. it was on the label, in big letters and they still asked. one other annoying thing, was people would ask for things like sponges or weirder things like the phone number for my supervisor. a couple of times, some random lunatic attacked me and i fought back, they called the cops on me. i had to spend my weekend in court houses all over the state, one of the other times it was somewhere in northern Washington, near Canada. i got treated like crap at work, for showing up after that, so i ate a walnut loaded banana muffin and landed myself in the hospital. it happened, i don't regret it and i'm happy i don't have to put up with it again.

    "hey has anyone here worked in a shop?" Said the guy desperately trying to be relatable to anyone who didn't go to a private school 🤣
    Old purple are annoying mostly because they act like using cash to pay in a shop is some lost tradition like they didnt realize the till does all the maths for them and think I'll be shocked and inconvenied by them being the last gereatiom to use cash but while it was more common for younger people (well under 40) to pay via Google/apple pay its not a surprise seeing someone of any age using cash or card. But young people don't give you cash and say something like *last of the big spenders" would hear that every other shift sometimes more then once a day 🙄
    Other than being rude or abusive id say he worst customers are people like me who will go in and know exactly what they were getting and counted out all the loose change and just dumpvit all on the counter and maybe I'll be 79p short for my £3.65 so then I'll just pay that little bit by card.
    The hest on cardsomeone comes in with Scottish money never stopped funny telling them I dirht think I could accept this foreign currency before Scottish person would magically appear to tell me "that's legal tender" and if your really lucky a brief explanation on the Scottish free banking system

    For some reason this is the first clip of you I didn’t remotely enjoy, customer service is supposed to be an experience where you are the focus and you actually matter for a few short minutes, I get you’re anti-social but I assure you dealing with people is no easy task as I’m sure you’re aware from performing, but wasting a solid 4 minutes going on a moaning tangent is ridiculous 🤣
