Came over from insta after seeing the rear mounted turbo on my explore page. Have seen a rear mounted turbo prior just makes so much sense
I appreciate you being here!
I have other question about cooling. I figured I will ask you because it looks like you think outside the box..
What about mounting the intercooler in the rear trunk? I see pro drifter move there radiators back there. If you mount the intercooler in the rear, the radiator will get all the air flow. Water cooling is more important than cooling the air from the turbo in my opinion. I would run no intercooler before blocking my radiator air path.
Another cooling issue is using the same oil from the motor. The turbo is just adding extra heat to the motor oil, breaking it down faster. Would it be wiser to put a dedicated external oil reservoir? This way also lets you change oil weight without having it mix s with the oil motor. Putting the external oil tank in the rear of the car will eliminate the long oil lines running to the front. With a long/wide differential cooler that fits under the rear of car.
Cusco race ramps are a game changer!
I'll look into them!
Checking in on the scavenging pump
I literally bought the same one in plans to do a rear mount on onr of my outbacks with an h6. And i seen how much it flows and wasnt sure it was enough. Your link linked me to the same one i purchased lol
Still going strong haha
No Caleb, YOURE AWESOME
4:30 for the system but I like to see everything.
Have the same pump. Needed some minute machinework swarf in the gear end as precaution before installation, but otherwise been flawless...
Where do you get the oil pressure from for the turbo feed? Isn’t the scavenge pumps job just to pump the oil back to the pan after it comes out of the turbo?
Can you clarify how you are feeding the turbo oil? I only see one line coming off the oil pan spacer how is it feeding and returning ?
I have the same oil set up on my rear mount turbo g35. Just doesn’t have a breather line or check valve. Super informative video I will probably update mine with those changes. thanks!
I'm glad it was helpful! Good luck to you and your build!
Does the check valve go on oil feed or return line?
Can you do a video on the plumbing for wastegate and bov for the 350z rear mount
Sure can!
How is your turbo oil feed set up? Have an oil restrictor installed, and if so, where at (at engine or back at turbo) ?
Thanks man ✌️😎
Check out 4:40 on the video!
How’s it coping so far? Noticed that the pump you’re using is only rated to a max of 140f 60c. And I’d assume on the track days your oil temps would be higher than that. Just wondering how the heats effecting the longevity of the pump.
So far so good but I haven't done a track day so far this year :(
I'm looking to mount 2 2JZ turbos on the rear of my FJ Cruiser however I don't want to feed them with oil from the engine. I would like a reservoir that feeds them only. Do you think that would me more expensive and add more work?
I've heard that's an option to have a reservoir in the back but You would have to fabricate something that would work for your specific application and then also you have to think about cooling that oil
I use an RB racing oil pump
How are you liking it??
It’s 12 years old its seems be working pretty good
What type of line are you running? And where did you get it? Also you are getting your oil feed off of the sandwich plate or is it off of the z1 spacer?
-10 AN lines I believe you can get them from Amazon and it comes from the Z1 spacer
@@blackpearlmedia7797 Thanks man
Cool build, scavenge pump tech should be lower then turbo or as much as can but noise might be cavitation from air bubbles pending if oil comes from top of engine or bottom huge diff, oil drains down once car is off
Appreciate it!
Link for that oil reservoir off the turbo?
Custom made!
Who made it!?? I need one 2!! Lol
you think running an oil system separate from the car would be beneficial? in otherwords creating some form of reservoir separate for turbo oil, attaching a pump to it and feeding that directly
id assume you'd need some form of individual cooling system as well for that but its just a thought, trying to build my own kit for my 09 328i bmw trying to figure out what i can and cant get away with
wont it cause issue when your pump is upper than you turbo drain?
That's why there is a sump added and a check valve to decrease oil rollback
@@blackpearlmedia7797 i saw the sump but it still sucks uphill from there.
@@winha1435 can you please clarify? I'm not sure I'm understand. I mean the overall answer is that I don't have any issues 🙂
@@blackpearlmedia7797 you have pump above fluid level, doesnt it suck a lot of air aswell when its like that?
@@winha1435 oh I see what you mean. No no issues with that. I think the Check valve has a lot to do with it. Instantly cuts the back flow when the oil stops circulating
Have you seen jay33 on here?
I have not!
How did it blow your turbo if it's job is to only send the oil back to the pan? Sorry for the stupid questions I'm only trying to learn. So far I'm understanding about 70% of this.
The scavenge pump was not circulating the oil properly. And before the check valve and reservoir was installed the oil would roll back and seep past the turbo seels
@@blackpearlmedia7797 BROOOOOOOOO that literally was my guess 😅. Thank you for the response. I appreciate this very much. I couldn't see where the feed line separated from return line nesr the scavenge pump but it doesn't matter. I'm starting to get a general understanding of it.
@@blackpearlmedia7797 one more question though, please 🙏; where would you install the check valve in this setup? I just looked up what that is and how it worked but I'm trying not to make any mistakes lol
@@ErectkyleDysfunction anywhere on the return line. So like after the pump on the passenger side if that makes sense
@@blackpearlmedia7797 thanks again man. I'll watch your video again to gain a better understanding. Now that you told me where to install it, that part is in my brain now. I just have to figure it out.
I just found this car on tik tok thinking about a butt turbo 😂
BUTT TURBO!!!
Get a turbowerx oil pump... you wont ever have a failure like that but they cost $300 bucks
I had one. It failed haha
My pump is so loud, louder then my engine
Same! But I like it that way. That's how I know it's working
Your pump it to hight
No it's not
