It is obvious and mundane like our lives might be. Unless we do something about it.
The last line of the monologue portion of this song really struck me. To say that this is going to be the best night of our lives immediately after pointing out the negative impact us humans have had on the Earth reminded me of something I kept on hearing during this past summer. I kept on hearing about how the summer was going to be the coldest summer I was going to experience for the rest of my life because every future summer is going to be hotter and hotter in temperature due to man-made climate change. Similar to that, in this song, tonight is the best night of our lives because every future night for the rest of our lives is going to be worse than the night we are experiencing right now. And, just like with man-made climate change, the future nights we all will experience are going to be worse due to us continuing to fuck up our planet.

Dorian's lyrical depth as a musician is underrated af.
I hadn't thought of it that way!
I also understand it as a contradictory and sudden switch to hedonism after a seemingly normal day turns into an inescapable reminder of how grim the world is turning.
Particularly with how happy the chorus sounds, I interpret it as if they're turning to mindless partying and pleasure to escape from the dread that builds up through the monologue and on random moments and days.
Threatening to off someone? Illegal, done before, predictable.
Threatening them they're gonna have a long and boring life? Terrifying, real, makes you feel like a prophet

@@judestarbabypup It was incredibly fun and chaotic. They also spent like a week in Buenos Aires afterwards, going to clubs and bars and giving free drinks to the fans that came to party with them after seeing where they were on their stories!
