Song reminds me of my youth it takes me back many years.
pain in the ass is what Canadian youth from June thru September were, and always will be. Thank you Kim for doing the soundtrack for almost every summer since, I am still singing that song and I am 67 years old now and living on the beach in Uruguay
This song always reminds me of my canadian childhood summers
me to
Perfect summertime song, with stuff cooking on the BBQ, cold drink in hand. Miss those days of so many great songs on the radio, one after another, glad I grew up in that era of music.
No Kim, as you said it's a moment. You've made millions of moments with this one. Thank you for making it, we've had no problems digging it.
Patio Lanterns is a truly special song that is burned into the memories of millions of Canadians and had a transformative effect on our lives. I assure you Kim, it was worth the pain!
Thank you Kim, you among a few others will always be part of the soundtrack of my youth growing up in T.O.
This song always takes me back to teenage summertime parties in Sarnia Ontario.
Great song
Love these renditions / artist reviews. Ty boom 97.3 from Canada 🥰🌿💕
Patio Lanterns is one of my all-time summertime faves. Kim rocks! Keep it up Boom! #BTV
Love this interview format and hearing the back stories. Keep up the great work, boom 97.3
I grew up with those patio lanterns and unfortunately they are hard to find now
Love the song Kim - glad you kept it.
U made a timeless amazing CANADIAN jam bro !! People who say they dont like it, they secretly like it and when im somewere and patio comes on i always make sure we crank her up !! Love yah KIM !!
I remember the 1st time I heard the song and it has stuck with throughout my life.
I love it as much now as I did when iy first came out
Hey buddy!!! It’s your song. Go back to it and remaster it. Every song I’ve ever done backup for I have revisited and come up with different versions and often better ones. Patio Lanterns was one of my absolute favourites.
Loved the song when it first hit the airwaves. Then after hearing it about 7000x I wasn't so in love with it. Now in 2018 (32 years since it's release) I think I love it again. Thanks Kim 🎸
kim Mitchell reminds me of Expo 86 saw him there and it was awesome those were the days to be 22 again on second thought no thanks
Always loved this song , I could listen to Peter Fredette sing the alphabet and enjoy it
Kim did a lunchtime concert for WBCN in Boston to support this song/album. I was right down in front with the one or two diehard fans who knew his stuff. They finished with In The World Of Giants.
...the outro is my favorite part. Sometimes I listen to PL just to hear the end. Wow, love Kim!
I actually heard this this song first before discovering all the kick ass rock songs of Max Webster
Thanks Kim
Kim. Rules.
I think sometimes you gotta know when to stop and let your children just go out into the world! Great Song! Overworking does not add mojo! Cheers!
Great to hear these stories, I go ten takes before I get a decent one in my living room. Broken Street Blues
Inspiring story!
Haha..that's so funny...Always loved this song...my mom is 84 as of the time I write this, and she has always and still does love that song as well...it crosses generations....glad you stuck with it Kim..and also glad the record dudes didn't listen to you in regards to not including it.
Classic!
great backing vocals on this track Nice one TY
Just goes to show you how emotionally attached and critical a musician can be if someone neutral with a good ear and pop sense is not there to balance things out and bring it into perspective. You hear that so much when a band or artist hated something they recorded and it went on to be their biggest success
He sings it different today.
I knew about this song before
“PAIN IN THE ASS!!” LOL! That last sentence made give a thumbs up to this video. Perfect, Kim.
What about Go for Soda?
We have an episode of that as well, do some digging, you'll find it.
Thought it was Paddy O'Lantern, a song about my late great uncle?
Just like Go For Soda, the melody is all off beat kind of funky.
haha gd music as usual kim long time ago i use to party with u on liberty street n bowmanville where u use to live hugs tc kim keep the gd work up
Kim, if you read this... please stop messing with it live, and sing it like the record... its what we all love!!
Not my favorite song by Kim, but the man is a genius nonetheless.
Scrap the scarf
Beautiful song. The artist / creator always so self critical 🙄 🙁😏😋😚👐🏼
My dad hated this song.
I total lost interest in Pearl Jam when they recorded Last Kiss. I loved Max Webster and Kim Mitchell but Patio Lanterns was Kim's Last Kiss for me. He still rocked but this song was lame and Kim was right, it shouldn't been on the album despite all the radio play time.
Not surprising since the song sucks. this is why if a song isn''t working and becomes hard work, Rush just threw it away.
Bet it wasn’t a pain in the ass to collect royalties from. 🙄
Much deserved
