    First of all I cannot explain how thankful I am for this. I have been in pain for a full year, couldn’t sit for longer than 5 mins because of intense pain streaming through my left leg. I’ve had a MRI which turned out positive for disc hernition between L4-L5 and L5-S1. Everything I’ve tried hasn’t improved my condition except this. My life has changed and it has been only 3 days since I’ve started with this exercise. I feel reborn and once again thank you so much for making my life feel worth living again. Greetings and lots of love from Croatia!!!

    Jokes aside, this feels really good! I've been stretching and grabbing my feet, but that ended up hurting my back badly a few months back, so I was afraid to stretch it anymore. Just did this and it felt amazing! Thank you!

    • @AdamJStoryDC
      @AdamJStoryDC  Před 6 lety +2

      If you grab your feet, you're likely flexing the spine, which produces strain and could tear the backside of the disc and create disc herniation. Don't do that. Keep the spine neutral and it's safer.

    Wow, I just thought of this stretch today exactly how you described it and then the same day I see your video of exactly the same stretch. So weird how that happens lol. Normally I do the stretch on a hand rail and pull back with my arms, but today I thought to myself I think pushing on the hand rail while pushing my hips back will be better than pulling with my arms. Tried it and the release in the vertibre was amazing and way better!!! Made some really good cracking noises and felt amazing.

    What I've been doing for spinal decompression is less an exercise and more "lazy man." I discovered, if I lay across my bed perpendicular to the length of the bed, have the Edge rest just under my arm pits and my legs hanging off the other end, my entire spine stretches/decompresses especially in the lower area. While doing this I can read a chapter in a book or goof around on my phone/tablet - maybe watch a YT video. Doing this a couple of times a day helped tremendously.

  • @7316bobe
    @7316bobe Před 6 lety +21

    This exercise was very helpful when I had my bad back. I had a herniated disk and it took 36 days to come right again. All I did was pick my very small dog up and put her into her chair and the next morning I could not get out of bed for the pain in my back. When I put her into her chair I twisted around with out moving my feet. If you have to turn/twist around just move your feet as you do the turn so that they follow your turning body and all will be ok. You have to think EVERY time you bend down to do something. Bend down STOP bend up again and then decide the best way to do what you were about to do. How you will bend what will be the position of your feet in relation to your back what is the load weight do you need help. This sounds like a lot of stuff but you can go through all this in your mind in just seconds and having made your decision you can now bend back down and do what you wanted to do safely. Once you have had a bad back you will do anything to never have one again. Grown men don't cry well get a herniated spinal disk and we will see about that.

      Surgery fixes some parts but there are unwanted things that happen. It's best to wait until the benefits outweigh the risks/side problems that are inevitable with surgery (continued stiffness, less motion, unstable segments, the same problem happens at the level above, more rapid progression of arthritis, etc)

    • @AdamJStoryDC

      Why don't you get the MRI on Friday and find out what happened first? Then ask your doctor what the diagnosis is, then ask if this exercise is appropriate for your condition.

      @Kingsusa Před 6 lety +2

      Sonia Pilla , modify by rounding your low back (like the pelvic tilt).
      Often women with increased lumbar "arched" low backs require opening intervertebral space by curling pelvis under (rounding the low back) while stretching
      That opens the joint space and decreases disc, nerve and vertebral compression.
