My wife was a primary school head teacher here in the UK. One day a school inspector came in to make sure the RE (Religious Education) section was being taught properly. The children had all been briefed as to the nature of the visit and to behave respectfully.
Almost immediately upon entering, the inspector went over to a nine year-old boy to ask him some questions. “Do you know what morning assembly is, young man?” The boy answered, “Yes sir - it’s a hymn, a prayer, and a bollocking.” 😂
The inspector turned to my wife and said, “What do you think about that?” Knowing the damage was already done she replied, “He’s not wrong.” 😂😂

We used to call religious education, RESE. It was a private joke amongst the boys because the teacher was so hot that we got religious education and sexual education.

I love Billy Connolly, when he tells his stories he meanders off into completely different trains of thought before going back to what he was saying. My favourite ever story of his is about a dwarf on a bus, I'd love to see you react to that one

Love this can't believe I haven't seen it so thanks! Going to an all boys High School in Australia in the 2000s and there was never a power struggle. You could get sent out of class for having a shirt untucked or ties not properly done, but of course there was a lot of piss taking. It went both ways but we knew what lines not to cross. I remember one teacher telling me to "tie a knot" when I asked if I could go to the toilet with 10 minutes of class left. When I said I had no clue what he was on about he told be to go because if I couldn't visualise what he said than he just felt sorry for me. I still chuckle about it, of course the entire class remembered that one for a while.

Billy at his best leading the audience down the path to a killer punchline. You can take the boy out of Glasgow but 'Ye Cannae Tak Glasgow outa th'Boy!"
Billy now lives a more sedate life in Florida with his wife Pamela who some time ago was herself a commediene. She's now a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor.
    He's expressing himself through Art.
He's done a series of travel documentaries from around the world. One of the best, in my view, was when he rode a trike down route 66. His interactions on camera with local people were magical.

Actor Billy Connolly had a lifelong dream of travelling the world's most famous highway, picturesque Route 66 in the United States. There is a programme that follows Connolly as he traverses the 2488-mile road that stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif. While travelling the road on his Boom 3 wheeler motor cycle, although I am not sure if it is only shown on CZcams UK.

Scotland’s national treasure - even though I don’t like that expression it certainly is true for Billy.
    The original and the best.
My dad being a Glaswegian loved him which is saying something cos dad was a chief medical officer. Billy touched everybody regardless of who or what you are .
The 60’s changed everything- in short, our philosophy.

May I recommend Billy telling the story about prank calls when he was playing a gig with the late, great Gerry Rafferty when they were in the Humblebums together.

Interesting as teachers you mentioned not creating a power struggle with the children and I totally relate to what you said because in the past 12 months I've become a trainer of adults within a railway track worker discipline at a railway training centre. Many of the people I train are of a similar age or older which can be odd to deal with for myself still. Even Adults like to push your boundaries. I have a much greater respect for teachers across the world. It's really tiring trying to explain stuff.

That's Billy before he went TT and settled down with his wife Pamela a famous Australian comedian .His reputation early on as a wild man along with Gerry Rafferty a musical genius .who wrote and performed( Baker Street) .and (Stuck in the middle with You.) from the famous movie scene by Quinten Tarantino .was well deserved .both were special talents who started out in the same folk group

You have to understand that Connoly was trail blazing here. Stand up comedy as it exists now was yet to come. He was one of the first to do it. No one had ever told stories or used language like that before.

  • @gary8491
    @gary8491 Před rokem

In life you have to laugh, Billy connolly made me laugh in the 70s, his language was brilliant, you had to swear to tell your story, it sounds better, a story without swear wurds, isn't a story, until some swears words were added in, Billy connolly is brilliant, A proper Glaswegian, I love that guy,

Whenever you say "Nick here, Jodi there." it always reminds me of the Two Ronnies as they used to say: Ronnie Corbett: "And it's goodnight for me." Ronnie Barker: "And it's goodnight from him." Both: "Goodnight.".
Tried to post this a few times but it isn't allowing me to post on your comments for some reason but look at Les Dawson and Shirley Bassey clip. Les Dawson was a British comedian who I think you will like.

Good clip 👍👍, Billy has had dementia for a number of years ,as you say when he was younger he was more angry young man and ,more feisty,he doesn't take those detours as often here ,when he started performing he played in Banjo in a duo in the sixties ,he used to sing "comedy " songs as well in his act ,his take on Tammy Wynette song "Divorce" is hilarious 👍👍❤️.

I always find it so bizarre when Americans just discover a person who is world famous and widely considered the greatest ever in their field.
It’s like having not heard of professor Hawking. I get that the USA lives in their own little bubble & does their own sports and TV and things by itself and pretends it’s the only nation on planet earth - but it’s 2023 and they have internet access, why do they choose to live like North Koreans and just watch HBO all day lol.

You need to stop bleeping out the swear words as it really degrades the comedy, sometimes a gosh n darn it doesn't cut it,Iv seen this vid elsewhere and I know how it goes, even if you don't like profanity you kill the humor that comes with it.
