Fit may be the most important aspect of style, but color is a very close second, especially for shorter men. Here's one of the most common questions I get from men under 5'8″ who want to start dressing better: “What colors and color combinations should I wear?”

Your content is Clear, concise, and well communicated. I really like burgundy and black, or for a little more intrigue, burgundy and charcoal grey.
I love to pair my black turtle neck, with my black leather jacket, burgundy chinos, and black Chelsea boots, or alternatively, switch out the black turtleneck for a burgundy one, switch the burgundy chinos for black jeans, and sub in burgundy Chelsea boots. It is a sleek, elegant look, with a subtle accent.

Dude, you are spot on!!!👍 nice to hear someone else say what I have been stating for colour combinations for years. Side note: it is much more difficult for those fighting the battle of the lbs to wear white & tan, if they go for this combination it is extremely important to have proper tailor fitted clothing.

I've done the burgundy tee shirt/black jeans combo. Love it! I also have a burgundy sport coat I wear with a black button down shirt and black dress pants.

Black X Burgundy is probably my fav out of all the combos but never really tried to pull it off, that and i have no clothing items that are of burgundy. Will definitely try it out!

Well since I was 16 I loved the blue and grey combination, but now being style conscious I need to consider the shades for my skin tone. My second favorite is blue and green. Since I am already brown, I cannot wear brown unless it is a shoe lol. I will have to look which shade of brown will fit me. But other than that these combos are awesome for men!! Well done
That's a great point. You could also try warmer analogous color combos (think orange, yellow, red, purple, etc.). Black and burgundy would be a great choice too.
I especially like chinos and some of the best are Alpa Chinos
Brock: I have a HUGE FAVOUR to ask. Clearly, you are a superb instructor. Honestly. Your ability to materialise abstract concepts is truly exceptional. FAVOUR = is there ANY chance you might be able to tell us HOW YOU ARRIVED AT THE 2 COLOUR SCHEMES (7) introduced in this video? I would love to know how you paired the 2 colours. You explained the benefits of ANALOGOUS colours, but in some of the 7 schemes, you paired colours with BLACK, GREY and BROWN, which are not on the colour wheel ( and thus, they're not really analogous ). Don't get me wrong... the colour schemes are AWESOME! I just want to learn...

I can recommend the video made by the Gentleman's Gazette on the colorwheel, but basically black, white and grey are their own thing and work with pretty much any colour
Black and brown is by far the best color combo, especially with suede dark brown boots. great video.

What colors beside blue go with some green chino shorts? Got a few button up shirts in different colors and not sure what would work with chino? And when you mention these combos I assume it goes either way? For instance, a blue shirt and gray shorts or a gray shirt and blue shorts?
I always used to wear light color trousers for dark t-shirts Because I think that the separation between trousers and the t is important. I don't know much about colors. I need to know which one is good to follow.

One thing i see as a common assumption of these videos. Regions, some of the combinations that are often recommended fit in specific regions as well as demographic.. The combinations you are listing are nice but I see them as more of a typical 20's age group and a much older as 60's demographic.. Some of them reminded of what our grandparents would wear.. But great video and advice none the less..

Im buying a pair of white leather sneakers since u inspired me, but i am a belt wearer, even with casual outfits. Which belt color should i use? I dislike white belts

My favourite outfit: Blue jeans, brown belt with a metal buckle, grey tucked-in t-shirt, brown vintage backpack, brown boots. Not that happy about my breaking pants but eh, I can work on it.

+Declan Shaffer there aren't any specific measurements because everyone has a different build. The key is to let your tailor pin your clothes and make sure you like how they look.

+Declan Shaffer there are many guides out there, but I don't think it matters nearly as much as it does with glasses. Go with something you love 👍🏻

Really impressed with the video and learning about colours etc: is there a limit to analogous colours with what we wear? Eg: would burgundy chinos match a purple polo? Since red and purple are neighbours and say yellow polo with green chinos? Or is that just pushing too far?
Some colors are so close they're also monochromatic (like burgundy and purple). The tonal look can be cool - all shades of blue, or all shades of green. But it's probably not the easiest thing to pull off.
You just have to experiment with color and remember, it's just clothes!

Yes, they do work for females too. It is all about blending your skin tone with the right colors and your own style ;)
As a woman you can take men’s style advice and apply it in your own way - these tips aren’t completely different for the two genders. Fashions for the two genders change but many style tips are applicable to both and often have been part of the fashion for both over time. You just find what works for you.
Interesting, I always pair dark blue with light grey or light blue with charcoal grey. For me the contrast is important, otherwise they kind of blend together. Not a fan of black/brown or black/navy
I like the blend. Low contrast is good for shorter guys.

Question; what are your thoughts on pink? I've had this pink Bonobos button up in my ebay cart for a while. I really like it but don't even know if I'd wear it.
I have one pink dress shirt. Goes great with grey or blue suits. It can also work well with olive (like olive chinos). Definitely a great color to have in your arsenal, but I'd go with a light, unsaturated pink, not a vibrant, bright pink.

I have a few tweed jackets/blazers in dark/forest green, burgundy and burnt orange. Which trousers and shirt would you wear these with? I really want to use them without looking like a clown
I would pair these with neutral outfits so they’re the statement piece, rather than combine them with other colorful pieces. For example, the burgundy jacket would look great with grey flannel trousers.
@@BrockMcGoff thanks for the answer. This combo has worked. I'm having more trouble with the rust/burnt orange one which draws a bit more attention. I also like wearing pocket squares (no tie) so I need to be careful not to over do it.

Question... With these color combos, does it matter what color is top and bottom.? For example grey shirt, blue pants vs blue shirt, grey pants
Usually no. Sometimes certain combos look off...like navy top with charcoal bottom looks better than the other way around.
