I have had the exact same issue and more with my A6, leading up to mine now not having a data connection so all google maps and anything online etc is gone whilst Audi Digital services look into it. I have had things like main beam assist failure, presense fail all for them to come back on after retsrting the car, locking it for 10 minutes and then trying again. Apparently there is a fix from Audi due at the end of this year which really isnt good enough for a top brand like Audi.
To reset the MMI, try holding the volume/power button in and at the same time push in the top left hand corner of the bottom screen - this worked for me - there is a hidden button.

Thank you for this. This actually fixed it. I held the power button for 3 seconds and it started. I didnt know it was a power button.

Many thanks! I'm suffering a A6 TFSi e as a hire car and the infotainment system most often fails to start properly. I rang Enterprise car hire they had no clue and put me onto the AA, they didn't have a clue either. I rang Audi support and they couldn't help then I turned to CZcams and found the solution from you. Hold the START button down for 15 secs and hey presto all is working fine again.

Later .... anyway ... press the power button for about 10-15secs and the system reboot. I solved in this way
