I want to express my admiration for Ali Abunimah. I've recognized the USA as it is since before I joined with Iranian students to protest the Sha's visit to USC. My lottery number was very high the year I was exposed to the draft. I did not go. I went to college and learned from honest instructors who had knowledge of history and of the history of ideas.
That's where we came to demonstrate. USC. "Remember Vietnam? Same thing in Iran." For too short at time an Iranian student befriended me and my wife. I was glad when the Sha was deposed. Carter escalated and then failed. He was an idiot at more than that and now does penance. Like Franco, who lingered for the fact of shame. And I smiled when Lebanon defeated Israel in the field back in the day. I've watched Ali and his organization deliver news I find impossible to articulate. That they all can? And do. Each day? This is heroic, a diamond for the whole world to see. Will they?
In my country of course we see things foreign in terms of tribes, we not recognizing that our domestic factionalism is tribal. Oh the Democrats. Oh the Republicans. With this horror of genocide in which we citizens are directly complicit as Ali says, a man who takes care with his words. All this horror and, should I vote for Biden to not have the horror of the other side in power? OH MY. Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY. Or the converse. It's the other side that is to blame in these small factionalized ignorant and irreligious minds seeming dominant in public life. Well its our country! Can't we unite in honest SHAME? Everyone hunkered down in their bunker and the men who never outgrew their loudmouth domineering teenage years haven't matured mentally one bit. They lead us! It's disgusting. It's inhuman because in human cultures men grow up. Here? No. Loudmouths or nice guys. All weaklings in reality and the leaders worse. A mental morbidity seeming countrywide by degrees. What future is there for the USA in that? Have we no shame? What phrase could convey the power of that phrase years ago? Idolize the warrior abroad, it obvious to anyone else what the USA has wrought.
My bet is on Ali and those he inspires toward sanity.

He was a Marine and joined up very idealistic and, like you, realised that what he was part of wasn't good. The fact that you are still suffering and full of regret, indicates that you are a man of conscience.

Ali Abunimah is like many Arab who are not capable of looking at the large picture.
They can only see what is happening in Gaza and the Middle East but fail to see the seismic shift in geopolitics where the Middle East will benefit substantially.
And China and Russia are driving this shift.
So how can he say that China and Russia are not doing enough?
