That chicken's been through this before and does not care that its roost is regularly moving.
That poor classic car.
Engineers exist to make everyones job harder, because they never have to put up with there own bullshit
They probably know the difference between "there" and "their" though... 😜
@@MarkoVukovic0 ooooo look at you. You speak english on an enlightened level. Well excuse the fuck outta me your royal shitness, but i don’t give a dam because this is the internet not a job application.
They are actually truthfully paid to design tasks just like explained on this video
Ford, Flip over read directions
They probably do whatever the bean counters say. Cheapest to assemble, bestest to fail soon after expiration of warranty. In a just world, all automotive engineers would serve a 3-year apprenticeship in the repair garage before being assigned to a design team.
Toilet paper probably lasts longer than that filter
Not when it gets wet 😜
I like the cheap hermonica and zip ties thing.
I had a 59 Jeep with an electric fuel pump. The switch was mounted behind the dash on the steering column. I was at a party and the key was in the ignition. Some weasel drove it away while giving me the finger and laughing. The switch was off and he only got about 30 yards. The look his face when it shut off and a dozen people coming at him!
I love my switches too!
The classics are so easy to toggle the crap out of.
I see these and realize "These people share the road with me..."
You share the road with them
Yeah, we've got your wheel balanced... Uh HUH!
It's gotta cost extra just for the sheer poundage of wheel weights required.
@@Sherman62 Boy howdy!
Cabin filters ain't cheap! Should be $7 Mine is $46
K&n now makes reusable cabin filters like $30-40 and done.
Damn, what are you driving?
@@matthewpere1975 good to know, thanks!
Been breathing what ever the road can throw at me since 72'. Feeling great.
Grew up eating off the seat and dash of the farm truck.
My daily driver has been a 70 Nova for 13 years. Newest vehicle I own is 78'.
Never owned anything with a cabin filter.
Yank it out and forget about it.
@@festersmith8352 the air quality now compared to '72 is way worse, and dirty old bangers like what you drive are partly the cause.
I died inside watching that classic hit the shop wall.
Same
When I was shopping for my current car - 2017 Lexus LS460 - I already knew Toyota made some V8's that placed their starter like the one @04:00. This type of engineering is unforgivable. The designers knew this would cause big problems for owners but designed and built it like this anyway.
Before I buy vehicles I spend lots of time on its forums of the car I'm thinking about buying. Such research is more useful than a hundred articles about the car in Consumer Reports. When I look for a car I already know most of the good points about it, so another article praising its merits is the very last thing I want to read. Such a configuration shows true design incompetence and I would not own a car made like this...

if you think that's dumb, wait until you see how the starter needs to be replaced on a kia stinger.
the ENTIRE ENGINE needs to be dropped for it to be replaced.
This was just Super! Thx.
You're welcome!
Car filled with road tar was just a warning. Cheat again it will be you covered in tar.
At least the northstar only needed the intake pulled, that other one looks like a head pull
Lexus also puts the starter under the intake.
Well done video. I liked and subscribed.
Awesome! Thanks.
You call it AGATHA ....... I call it THOR xD
Love It ! New subscriber!
Thanks for subbing!
Chipping Away needs to be a full song
Look at my videos. I made a longer version should be in my Music playlist
Nicely made video, seriously. Can see the effort into the narration and compiling of related video clips to make the whole thing.
You know… I really appreciate you saying that. Thank you. You made my day.
I think I found my new favorite ytb channel
Woooooooo!
Very funny video.
Many many thanks
I did something like the push button on the fuse box as a work around because a large voltage drop between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid prevented the solenoid from working.
Omfg the wheel balance got me shittin
Not defending the Northstar, but honestly, I'd rather take off an intake manifold to change a starter than to get underneath the car to do it. I can usually zip off an IM in about 15-20 mins.
Yes agree, try changing one on a GM - LS1 V8 when car is factory built in Australia Right Hand Drive around the starter.
Agree. Many V8's have the starter under the IM. It's a lot cooler than next to the exhaust, so in theory, should last longer.
External starters get road salt, immersion in water, rock damage. For offroad, the protected starter may be better - but I still like the solenoid up on the firewall. The underslung ones are easier to swap on the trail, especially with a lifted vehicle.
Wow… those wheel weights…. 😳
Please don't let that be a Chevelle... Aw man that's my dream car.
Don't knock Northstars! Replacing starters might look like a pain, but are actually easy & don't go out very much. It's just scary for most people because you have to remove the intake manifold (easy). Replacing starters on other cars, like Lexus/Toyota trucks is scary! I think some of them take 8+ hours!
North Star is a hell of a lot easier than a Toyota v8 starter
That’s for sure
1:45, “it’s a Ford”. Please tell me that’s not a MT82.
When working on light aircraft, the worst thing I could call someone was Cessna engineer.
Lexus also put the starter in the valley under the intake of their V8 motors
Luckily it's not a GM product and my original starter still works after 25 years and 377k miles.
I love the songs you come up with!
Thanks! I’m slowly going to be release slightly longer (60 second) versions of the one people ask for.
@@NoobMechanic then I vote for the “road construction girl” song.
I’ll get it done!
Longer song uploaded today... "Fire" song coming soon.
@@NoobMechanic you sure delivered👌
1:50 ITS TIME FOR CHANGE BEAR
That chicken is for the new kfc commercial
I am a retired mechanic, and I got to meet an automotive engineer thru mutual friends. As soon as he told me, I kicked him in the shin. Then told him what I do, we both laughed and had some beers. I wish I had seen the harmonica trick, that would have been really good retaliation.
Toyota V8 pickup has starter under the intake manifold
Yep, even though it's more labor to replace, they are not a commonly replaced part as suggested. It's a lot cooler there than near the exhaust so, in theory, they last longer.
That's a paddlin...
$100 worth of wheel weights !
GM transmissions aren't the bed. Look what happened to the Pontiacs.
I used to work for a government fleet that had hundreds of GM pickups and sedans. Got to see how well they run (badly) and how (UN)reliable they are. I only drive Toyotas...
That filter would have run another year. Wouldn’t make much difference on the smell….
All brake rotors MUST be turned before using them. It doesn’t matter where you got them. Yes the American made rotors weren’t anywhere near this bad, but a few thousandths off is still enough to make the front end wobble of the brake pedal vibrate. Chinese rotors are the worst of the lot! The only way to do the job right is to machine the rotors and remove any run out!
Dumping her loads💀💀💀💀
Tha amount of times I seen my dad fix a fords is like half his life like 20 years half of the cars he does for body work he gets fords all year long and in general fixing them but the rest is most crashes not rust like dodge or ford.
Thats why i hate automatics, too. You are in gear and just the right amount of revvs turn everything to nothing, lije with the chevelle ss
Northstar? Those starters are easy. Come talk to me after you've done a couple Lexus LS400 starters.
Done them… but those starters usually don’t have issues so it’s rare to replace one. The northstars seem to have a ton of issue with theirs
@@NoobMechanic you're right about the ratio. However between every piece of plastic and rubber getting destroyed during the disassembly and my hands getting shredded f****** with that stupid rear water crossover manifold/pipe. Not to mention using a stubby 14mm to break loose the bolts that they got a sumo wrestler to "torque". I would never even think about complaining about doing a Northstar. (BTW. I'm sure you're aware, but always remember to price out that weird flanged intake collar. That rubber boot doesn't like to be manipulated after 100k miles. You know what I'm saying. P0171 & P0174. F**K!🙄
0:48 I don't think your observation about the rotors is what you think it is.
I assume the rotors were heat warped, then turned. What I said was just a funny take on it.
wtf is a cabin air filter
No one knows for sure
If u got $20,000.00 to $30,000.00 to spend don't purchase anything after 1972 Problems solved .
I see you have a hate on for fords.
I love fords. I have a 69 and a 2011. Love Chevy. I have a 2012. Also a VTX 1800. I love cars. I’m not a fanboy of a specific manufacture. I was just clarifying what it was for the people that didn’t know.
Your job was to balance the things that goes "round and round", ie "The tires"... not to balance entire Planet Erf, are we clear?
I can tell you don't like Fords .....
I actually love fords. I own a 1969 and a 2011. And a Chevy. And a Honda VTX1800. I’m a car enthusiast. Not a manufacture fan boy
AI Garbage...
Lol… what was AI? And stop liking your own comment. That’s what’s garbage 😂
