Just watched " Strangers When We Meet"... Kim gives the best performance of her career. Terrific movie! Vertigo a close second.
Performances in Vertigo, she took the role because it reminded her of Hollywood trying to remake her when she arrived there.
I love Kim! Such a wonderful free spirit and down to earth. I wish her all the best.

Aaahhh... I think of the pictures by Hitch, a #MasterofCinema one in particular is VERTIGO (1958)! Yes, Kim was great! And So was Jimmy! (APPLAUSE)
Stewart's performance in Vertigo has always creeped me out, yet he's the same actor who played Elwood P. Dowd for decades, 1 of my favourite performances ever!
@@unowen-nh9ov Oh yeah, HARVEY (1950) 👍 Did you know Jimmy was a Brigadier General in the United States Air Force? And that he had some dark experiences serving during the war that he drew on in his Acting performance? So yes he is one of the greatest from a great era of Cinema, The Golden Age of Hollywood. 👍
At long last Kim Novak is getting the respect she deserves. When you revisit her films it is an extraordinary experience. Her performances are timeless and ahead of her time.

I fell in love with Kim Novak when I was 15 years old while still living in communist Cuba. I didn't even know who Miss Novak was and, as it always happen in totalitarian regimes, specifically a communist one, censorship and obfuscating the truth, seems to be paramount to their existence. I knew who Alfred Hitchcock was because I had seen Psycho and The Birds, but he was not looked upon favorably after he made the film Topaz. But I digress - I had a friend who worked for ICAIC, the Cuban institute of art and cinematographic industry. I went to visit him at the archives while he was working on selecting Hollywood movies slated to be destroyed. Vertigo was not among those, and I wanted to see what it was about. It was a used copy that was in terrible condition, missing sound, faded color, and the subtitles were nearly impossible to read. Nonetheless, he showed me how to setup the reels and off I went to see Vertigo. Obviously, to a 15 year old a lot of it didn't make sense, however, Kim Novak was so amazing in this movie, that she was able to mesmerize me, even crossing the language barrier. I was bewitched, and have been ever since. 20 years later when I was already living in America, I watched Vertigo on a full screen theater. A beautifully restored version in all its glorious technicolor and in the 70mm stock. With no language barrier this time I then fully understood the plot, the obsession, and I was once again bewitched by her performance. I hope one day I can tell her in person the impact she had on a 15 year old boy, that her magnificent art of acting, was able to even reach someone who didn't even understand what she was saying with words but was able to say it with her eyes, and her body language.
Novak & Dame ET are HILARIOUS together in The Mirror Crack'd, playing 2 Hollywood divas trying to outbitch 1 another, look fabulous also (of course!). Also get to watch Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple preparing for JB Fletcher. Lovely period piece, Taylor's last movie with Rock, lots of great work from '50's icons & early appearance by Pierce Brosnan.

Scorsese is a huge fan of hers in Vertigo. I got the feeling listening to her that she may be in frail health.
@@Scorchy666 She's 88 and she lost her husband last fall so, yes, I'm sure she's frail.
Vertigo is my second favorite film. Only Lawrence of Arabia is a better film IMHO. Novak was positively arresting -- stunning -- in Vertigo in every sense I can think of. Clearly a superbly expressive artist.
