Henry Cejudo is a wrestler where crisply polished technique is key and it is common to scout your opponents to see what they are good at in wrestling. Then you prepare for them, for their skillset, body type and tendencies. Both defense and offense. I can see how that translates nicely into MMA.

It was a very useful kick but often not used because you have to be able to flex during the kick and a lot of people had a hard time w/ it. Personally, I loved it and I even used it in a couple of forms and even used it in fights and sparring.... It was a fun kick until you over extend it and hurt your knee and that was easy to do when you kick at full power but miss your target. LoL

You'd have to assume that he wants to carry that same style up to hw. Whether its intentional or not... will he lose muscle during those 3 months? Also... cereal is a very mobile hw. That extra bulk may not serve its purpose like it would have against Francis. I dunno man... I was A LOT more excited to see Francis vs bones. But I'm still tuning in. Toughest fight for Jon at HW is Blaydes and no one's even remotely interested apparently. Sucks to be Blaydes man lol

@@lastdefenderofxhotl Meh Blaydes got handled by Lewis and Jones has WAY better grappling/wrestling than Lewis.

@You've Got a Type So much about this thought process is just wrong 🤣. One saying Lewis handled Curtis is such a gross misrepresentation of what happened. Lewis got a one punch KO after getting his ass handed to him on the feet like the Volkov fight. If we're talking about what Jon could do to replicate Derrick's performance, it's infinitely more likely Jones gets his ass handed to him in the standup than landing a one punch KO.

@@lastdefenderofxhotl oh yeah so much wrong? You didn't say anything about Jones' wrestling/grappling experience. I didn't say a one punch KO. Think about Jones beating Cormier 2x - and DC is a far better wrestler than Blaydes (and probably a better striker as well). Blaydes will bring zero eyes to a PPV - so this fight will never happen anyway since it's a business first and foremost.

@You've Got a Type I didn't talk about the wrestling/grappling because this matchup will almost certainly be decided on the feet, like basically every fight between two high-level wreslters/grapplers Which to be clear favors Curtis because he's a deceptively good striker in exactly the ways we've seen cause Jones problems. If you want to bring up Jones history with DC cool. Just remember DC explicitly stated he did not want to face Curtis Blaydes after beating Stipe despite the fact Curtis was the clear cut number 1 contender, and instead was only up for defending against Lewis. DC is a far better credentialed wrestler outside MMA, but he's definitely not drastically better at utilizing wrestling than him inside it. Jones hasn't been particularly effective at utilizing his wrestling at all recently, and if we want to talk credentials outside MMA, Curtis and Jon are both American JUCO Champs.
