SIT REP! :) Well done mate. A awesome shake down run for the big one in September. You will be fine I'm sure. Maybe consider salt tablets just to take like you would take a flu capsule. Something like PH salt tabs. Really work for me. BTW your body transformation is so inspiring mate, it always blows my mind when you show footage from RTTS just how far you have come on your weight loss journey. Its just incredible. Hats off mate.
💪🏻
Well done Ryan! Great video too, even though you did forget the sd card 🤦♂️
Good luck with the Thames path training.
Still can't believe I forgot the SD card. Won't happen again, can't be doing with the Blair Witch effect.
God damn, that must have been bonkers tough, especially in that heat. At about 1pm it must have felt like you were running through a furnace. Absolutely gnarly.
I have no idea how you could stay hydrated in that, too. I'd feel like I wanted to carry an impractical amount of water. Not sure I could get through that. Huge kudos, mate.
Im normally alright in the sunshine and heat but even this wad too much for me. Just kept on drinking and running. Good event and nice to run through south east London.
Well done Ryan ,it was a great event ,would love to do it again or even the northern side ,but a watch is a must .Was a pleasure having a chat with you at about 15 miles walking up another steep hill .
Great to see and meet you too Steve. Was a hot day. Would love to run it on a "normal" day 🔥😅
Just come across this video. I also ran this race and found it flippin tough in the heat. Ordinarily a 55km race would take me 5hrs to 5.5hrs but this ended up being nearly 7hrs! By the checkpoint in Wimbledon I felt so ill. All I could do was shuffle my way to the finish.
Great channel by the way.
Thanks Liam. The heat was unbearable. Awesome you finished. Well done. Pleased you found my channel. 🙌
Your super awesome! Taking on these big challenges and doing Zwift races is how I found your channel. You manage to make the mendane interesting and somewhat entertaining. Anyhow I am enjoying following your suffer fest! My only advice for you is to slow down your breathing as you run rather than faster shallower breathing.
I do sound like I'm on a ventilator don't I. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Fantastic authentic vid, nice one. Ive signed up for this as my first Ultra in June. Need to get Manchester marathon next week out the way first 😆
Good luck next week. The 55k Ultra London is a great route, which is why I'm running it again this year.
Well done super strong effort. 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks Aaron 💪🏻
Well done 😊
Thanks 🙌👍
Effort Ryan, big congratulations. A week to go for me. Drawing inspiration from you. 🎉
Cheers! Good luck for your race. A week to go! Youll be in taper mode now 💪🏻
@@RyanCondon A lot of hill work ☑️ Walked a marathon ☑️ Some big runs☑️. Park Run tomorrow but on the 5k. Might cycle instead of run.
@@Jeleivers1 good idea. You'll be grand. You won't lose any fitness in a week. Best to turn up fresh. 💪🏻
@@RyanCondon I’m camping in a field with no showers, I’ll be camping fresh. 😂
The Blair Witch footage actually seems fitting, makes it seem more real / grimy / difficult.
NB: As someone from a hot climate, a liter of water per hour isn't a bad target to stay hydrated. Might require carrying more with you, though. Also, alternating snacks between sweet and salty helps keep your appetite and hydration up.
PS Your attitude is contagious, can't agree with you more that sprinting to the line is a must!
Thanks for the tips! You should watch my 100k attempt video. I nailed the water and messed up the nutrition. Every day is a school day. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@RyanCondon The 100k was incredible, pushing through in the dark for hours past your target, you just don't give up! On the topic of nutrition, 60-100 grams of carbs is a good hourly target. I like sugar water for cycling because it doesn't get much cheaper than that. Add a bit of table salt and 20ml or so of lime juice and it starts tasting decent, too. IDK how those running bottles do with carbs in terms of getting grimy, but the Specialized Purist cycling bottles are the only ones I do this with. Make sure you rinse them out well as soon as you can, then air dry completely. I've started researching trainers, you make Zwifting look fun, though I definitely lean towards getting outside.
@@redkeyspoke I needed to take on more than energy gels or electrolytes. I needed more, high calorie food earlier on in the run. I learnt from my 55k that I needed to carry more water which I did. Next time I'll eat more actual food high in carbs.
Smart trainers are fun but as a indoor armchair Zwifter I can't advise on IRL riding.
