Shawarma is a type of Middle Eastern street food that has its roots in the Levant and the
Ottoman Empire. It is grilled meat in a special way, where the meat is grilled by heat and radiation from the heat source, which can be an electric source, gas or coal. Shawarma is sold in fast food restaurants.
Shawarma meat is usually beef, camel, lamb or chicken, where the meat is placed on a metal skewer, and the meat prepared for grilling is of different diameters and may reach half a meter in diameter. Although the method of grilling meat with a vertical grill has an ancient history, the method of preparing shawarma by grilling pieces of meat vertically and cutting it during grilling first appeared in the form of doner kebab in the nineteenth century, in the Ottoman Empire known today in Turkey.

One of my most beautiful meals I will remember for the rest of my life was in Iraq. It was during the invasion in 2003, I asked a little boy would he get me a kebab and he did, The food was just perfect. I gave the boy $20 USA for the kebab because I really appreciated what he did for me, anyway his father found me to bring back the money incase the child had stolen it from me, I thanked him and explained that I asked the boy to help me as I had been living on rations and the meal made me so happy that I gave him the money.
It was right then I found out just how honest and kind and beautiful Iraqi people are.
I am sorry for the war in your country and what my country the UK did and I hope Iraq gets the real peace it deserves. Your country is beautiful and I would love to visit one day but I know this will sadly never happen.

everbody does it but i think they could leave the dress cutting in the beginning .... cause also it must be more yummy meat .... more crunshy and well done wehn it gets the first heat on the outside where its not so tightly packed ... and once its cut off it automaticly looks more trim , right ? i just always see that and think : what a waste , literally !
