This Weed Eater rider came to me with flat tires and broken steering. In part 1 I address the issues with the steering as well as try to get it running and driving.
Kinda funny they said these were throw away mowers 25 years ago but there still around and better than the new ones 4 times the price
😊😊😊😊
Good one mate for what it is it runs good looking forward to the fixes hope all is good your end
Thanks Mick, ran fast because I found the governor was on the way out. Doing great and hope you are the same.
Nice job, Briggs sounded nice and strong. Man, you guys must be the pine straw capital of the nation down there!
Thank you, ran strong until the governor went out in it in part 2. I have a lot of pines in my yard but yes that is the state tree of NC!
@@EllisMowersandmore you seem like a decent man. I just bought a weed eater off market place and I've never driven a ride on mower b4. Is the blade cageing supposed to radel around on these? I'd really appreciate your experienced advice.
He needs a heard of goats to keep place clean
Hey nice job really like watching oh Im sure you know but that fuel line needs to run through that hole that's cut out in that side panel it helps with gravity of the fuel from the tank the way it is now when engine warms up that line may sack a bit cause the fuel to have to run upward
Thank you! It's interesting because some I see run through there and some don't. The newer ones typically don't. That hole is cut to provide an outlet for some that have a blocking plate to protect the steering and solenoid from grass buildup leaving the hole as the only outlet for the fuel.
I acquired a working old weed eater like this one. Mine is a 13.5hp 38" deck. No model number or anything. The sticker was removed. Where can I find parts for it? I'm looking for a bagger and a mulching cover. Among other things. Thanks!
It is exactly like a Craftsman from the same era. If you search "Weed Eater 38" riding mower manual" you may find a manual for it.
Where do you get the seat cover like that ??
Never seen those before
Looks like a living room chair 😊
Or never mind I keep forgetting you film odd I guess that weed eater one probably already sold and gone but good one
If people would put a new motor on these they would last other 25 years and operate extremely cheap and easy to fix every thing
I should do more tractors like you.
They're lots of fun Bruce, a lot of crawling around on the ground though for decks, blades etc. And they sell immediately!
My governor did the same thing fortunately had to replace the engine
What kind of differential oil do you use?
Never had to use diff oil on a mower. But I'm not brand specific for anything.
I have a weed eater ridin mower like the one youre working on. When I lower the blade it wont engage. I would appreciate some advice.@@EllisMowersandmore
I'm working on a John Deere LT 133 38 inch cut getting gas in the oil got put a solenoid on it changing the oil & air filter shreareaarpen the blades also I meant a igtion coil not a solenoid ggreat that mower was made by AYP product,s
Actually I have a John Deere LT 155 and they came from a John Deere dealer or not made by ayp
@@kajlerdog628 thanks for your reply man
No problem
@@kajlerdog628 😊😀😀😊
AYP is good they’re so much better then MTD! AYP Is craftsman Husqvarna Poulan weed eater park hill etc.....FIX THAT RPM!
I love working on AYP mowers, simple and easy to fix compared to some MTD stuff especially the older ones. RPM fixes itself in parts 2 and 3. Governor issue rears its ugly head!
Sounds like you had a govern issue?Sounded really high revved or maybe it was just the mic pick up...
You would be right, I discover it in part 2 and fix it in part 3!
Sounds good even though it was revving on the high side at that time u filmed this
Thanks John, turns out to have governor issues later on in the series.
@@EllisMowersandmore hopefully that is my issue but i am thinking this repower engine i have is no good i think
What size is the battery
U1 230cca
@@EllisMowersandmore cool and thank you
Battery a 12v or 6v ?
12v
@@EllisMowersandmore ok awesome thanks very much I have to get a battery and a starter they both are missing. But it was free so I can't go wrong hopefully
At 8:47 is a big spark when the key is turned.
I saw it too. Solenoid most likely.
Sure was, wow! Thanks for catching that!
Rich people junk running riding mowers
To many they are a throwaway item.
It’s ok with me, I enjoy fixing them and making a few bucks
The more they throw away the better for us poor folks to fix and use 😊😊😊😊
Right ❤
