CLAUDIO ESTAY
Claudio Estay began his percussion studies at the conservatory in Santiago de Chile. In 1999 he transferred to the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
During various engagements in South America (symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra of Chile, symphony orchestra "Simón Bolívar" in Caracas/Venezuela) he worked intensively with popular Latin American music.
Since 2002 he has played in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
He can be heard regularly in solo recitals and chamber concerts. From 2004 to 2010 he was principal timpanist of the Hofer Symphoniker. He has been a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich since 2010 and has been principal percussionist in the Bavarian State Orchestra since 2013.
He is a founding member of OPERcussion, the percussion ensemble of the Bavarian State Orchestra. (Status: 2018)
