In the real episode the spider alien Greta was not a predator trapping ship and feeding on the crew inside instead she cares for the trapped crew and making their last days filled with comfort and bliss
At the end when the main character has to go back in the Sim you see on Greta's face just how sad she is how bad she feels for those who are forever trapped there
