    What a fun protolance layout tour! Ship & travel SANTA FE - all the way! The AT&SF names my favorite fallen flag railway. Gordon has modeled it so incredibly well. He’s aptly captured the essence of Santa Fe’s mainline between Chicago and LA. Modeling it in N scale represents a no brainer since its 1:160 size triumphs as model railroading’s best scale ever. Take that, all you HO modelers! (Just pullin' your brake wheels, hee hee!) 🤣
    I enjoyed how Gordon took creative license by time-warping a 1950s-era steam helper locomotive to assist pushing the westbound Ash Fork freight manifest containing an incongruous 1970s-era UP "We Can Handle It" boxcar. Talk about a "Back to the Future" moment! Somehow I missed seeing all the Aussie kangaroos, though. To where did these miniature N scale marsupials hop off? Maybe they jumped "down under" the layout. LOL!!! 🦘 😅 😁
    I thoroughly enjoyed this video tour. Gordon’s modeling skills rival many of the best in our hobby.

    My hat's off to you for capturing this amazing Santa Fe layout on video. Before watching this N-scale layout here, I've never seen one that spanned the entire Super Chief route from Illinois to California. While presenting this shiny silver streamliner passing through Arizona, though, you inadvertently misspelled Holbrook as "Holbrooke." Oh well, we all can't be perfect. Great shots of the Super Chief, though! 👌

    In the Kansas City roundhouse scene three 4-8-4s can be seen in the foreground.
    Those all appear to be very nice brass models first off and I'd love to see them running. But coincidentally it provides a bit of contrast in the difference in size between 3751 and 2926.
    Their numbers are obscured but the foremost 4-8-4 is a 3751 class (pretty rare in N scale might I add, as a fellow ATSF n scaler)
    While the latter two are either 3776 class or 2900 based on the tender.
    All three look absolute gorgeous.

    Beautiful Layout. I was 12 years old when I rode on the Santa Fe El Capitan train from Chicago to Los Angeles and back to Chicago and then back to Philadelphia. It was a fantastic bi-level Passenger train and it was a great trip seeing my Mother's brother in the Marines at Oceanside, CA. I would like to get an O scale El Capitan Train set for my collection. Having trouble finding one. Can anyone help me?

    Very impressive layout there. I’m an N scaler myself. I’m in the early stages of my model railroad which is the Pacific West Coast model railroad. I’m focusing on from 1974 to the present from Tijuana,Baja California Norte,Mexico to Vancouver,British Columbia,Canada which will focus on the West Coast of 3 nations & all railroads that serv the West Coast. It will cover the San Diego & Imperial Valley, the Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Union Pacific, Western Pacific, Burlington Northern, Milwaukee Road, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, British Columbia railroads.

    Amazing layout and clip. Thank you for the post. I know about this layout from an old issue of N Scale Railroading magazine. Has he completed any new sections in the past year? Maybe you can do an update clip in the fashion that you did this one. Or maybe a clip with runbys of different passenger trains in different locations on the layout. Thumbs up!

    Awesome layout and gorgeous train! When I was a kid my stepdad ran HO and had a Santa Fe set. I'm thinking of going to N gauge due to space limitations. Does Lionel produce N gauge or is there a different N gauge producer? I'm wanting my first set to be modeled after the 1950s - 1960s PRR; my grandfather was a conductor on their passenger service, hence the inspiration. Any suggestions where I can get started?

    • @christopherorourke6543
      @christopherorourke6543 Před 2 lety +1

      Lionel doesn’t make any N scale as of yet. N scale/gauge is your best best in getting started. Kato has the Pennsylvania Broadway Limited set. I would go with Kato if I were you. 7 members of my family worked for the Lehigh Valley railroad out of Coxton Yard near Pittston,PA. If you live in the Philadelphia area buy your N scale/gauge train set, freight cars, locomotives, cabooses at Nicholas Smith Hobbies in Broomal on PA3 the West Chester Pike or at Strasburg Train shop in Strasburg,PA if you live close there.

      @@christopherorourke6543 Thanks! I started looking at the model produced by Kato. Could I purchase directly through Kato? Unfortunately I don't live in Philly so getting to that shop you mentioned would be difficult.

  • @kornellred
    @kornellred Před 3 lety +1

    This is an enormous accomplishment, especially in N Scale. But I have one question for Mr. Bliss, which I do not expect an answer to, but I feel must be asked. The Santa Fe transcon is predominantly double-tracked. Why is most of your layout single-tracked?
