    I just watched a dermatologist break down Niacinamide. They explain that more is not better. Niacinamide should not go above 5%. It is supposed to help keep the skin barrier intact and at 10% and higher it can do the opposite and cause inflammation instead. I'm glad you've had no problems with one Niacinamide product that is 10% but it's not recommended by dermatologists. I use a serum by Bauer Beauty that is Niacinamide 5%. I have found Niacinamide in other of my skin care products so I now don't feel I need to buy another Niacinamide serum. I'm still definitely using up what I have left. Hope you have an open mind to this information. I'm a big fan of yours.

    • @maalikserebryakov
      @maalikserebryakov Před 2 měsíci

      skin barrier is not the main purpose of niacinamide lmao.
      Its so funny watching derms release nonsense when it comes to this type of stuff,
      Cellular Biologists are the ones who actually understand what niacinamide does.
      It is just an energy production accelerator. It makes celld work faster and healthier. It works just as well in brain cells as om skin cells.
      The texture improvement is just a sign of that cellular energy.

    I wish more poeple would talk about palm oil derivatives, it's so harmful to our world but I don't see anyone really discuss it. It's in so many skincare and food products, some skincare products that also call themselves cruelty free but how can they be if they are deforesting the amazon jungle to get their ingredients? the skincare community needs to have a serious conversation about it, we need to take action against brands that use it.

    If you are looking for a good niacinamide serum try Tiam’s Vita B3. The texture is unlike most niacinamide serums, it’s watery and workable. No pilling. Not only is it 10% niacinamide, It has 2% Arbutin and does a great job at brightening. This is the first niacinamide that I’ve used and actually love and enjoying using. As a dry skinned person, it doesn’t dry out my skin which is a relief. It needs to be more popular❣️

      I also got some Azealic acid in my Curology formula but I like CDB serum better. So if any of you ever get a Curology prescription I would try directly asking them for a high _(10%+)_ amount of azelaic acid. My custom formulation only had 7%

    Ehhh... Cassandra I'm a big fan of yours, I just want to lead with that. But I'm disappointed that you are highlighting a Naturium product. I know you are likely friends with Susan and consider her a colleague in the YT space, but what she did was really wrong and is more than just "drama" and "politics." It was an FTC violation. She knowingly promoted products without disclosing that she was a co-owner/founder of the brand. If we're going to hold other brands accountable for fake and misleading reviews and other questionable behavior that impacts their consumers, we also need to hold our friends accountable when they screw up in the same way.

      Are people seriously still going on about this? It happened over a year ago, and honestly, I really don't think it's something that we should "cancel" the brand for. She made a mistake, apologized, and explained her original intention. Was it wrong? Yes. Should we never ever ever forgive her and continue bashing the brand forever? I really don't see how that is helpful.
      I think she made a genuine judgment error, and we can evaluate the quality of the products rather than of 1 mistake that happened a year ago.

      the ordinary has a parent company that tests on animals. Therefore the ordinary is not cruelty free.
      There is a huge misconception about cruelty free topic. Be careful about cruelty free certifications, recognise if they are fake or recognized! Also be careful about peta's cruelty free pink bunny - that does not mean anything! To germans- balea and dm test cosmetic ingredients "somewhere in the world" as they stated. Ethical elephant site can explain why you have to be very careful about cruelty free certifications and why the pink bunny doesnt mean anything, Only the leaping bunny is good. You need to ask the questions to the companies by yourself by email as the certifications can be just simply fake and those recognized can be false also.

    My personal favourite is actually the Glossier Super Pure niacinamide serum (I've also tried The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Naturium, and Good Molecules for reference). It's 5% niacinamide (the perfect percentage IMO, clinically proven to be effective and not irritating at all) and has zinc PCA. The serum is lightweight and hydrating, doesn't cake up, and layers well with other products. It's also fragrance free and has a super simple and solid ingredients list (it does have honeysuckle extract as an anti-oxidant if herbal extracts cause issues for you, but the serum itself has zero scent/no fragrance or essential oils). I appreciate that there's no hyaluronic acid since it's so hard to find products without it, and some people are bothered by it. Also no phenoxyethanol which is like a godsend for me since it irritates the hell out of my skin.

    Currently using the Inky List- I just saw the Ordinary one at the store and put a bit on my hand -- and didn't like the feel as much as the Inky- so I stuck with Inky for now. I do use the Ordinary for other products over Inky - but for nicinamide and vit. C - Inky beat Ordinary in my book. Just want to say thank you too- I only started trying these things after finding your videos - at age 39. Within just 2-3 months my parents who are in their late 70s even noticed a difference in my skin. It's smoother texture/look, less redness, and overall fresher look. I think my skin almost looks better now at 39 than it did at 30. I honestly thought most skincare products were scams- I have been disprooven and I love that you include the science.

    If you have roseacea or sensitive skin DO NOT use the Ordinary niacinamide serum! Treat your zits with something else because it could give you contact dermatitis. 10% niacinamide is frankly unnecessary given that scientific data has proven that 5% niacinamide is the ideal percentage for attaining one's desired results. Additionally, too much niacinamide can react negatively to vitamin C, so do your homework before pairing different products within your skincare routine. Try finding a moisturizer that contains niacinamide and other great skincare ingredients.
