- As skincare has become more popularized, many people have asked Dr. Karam what Niacinamide is, what the benefits of Niacinamide are, and whether or not they should be including it in their skincare routine. Niacinamide is Vitamin B3, and as an active skincare ingredient, it works at the cellular level to make true, biochemical changes to the skin. Niacinamide helps with skin hydration, calming redness, decreasing oil production and pore size, pigmentation and so much more! Honestly, Niacinamide is a powerhouse active ingredient that Dr. Karam recommends everyone include in their skincare regimen! As always, consistent use of this active ingredient, and pairing it with sunscreen will ensure that you are getting all the benefits Niacinamide has to offer! As an added bonus, Niacinamide is included in the KaramMD Skin Trifecta, which is a 3-step skincare regimen that makes nourishing your skin and preventing skin aging easy!

If we speaks the truth.. tretinoin in cream is the only thing that really has effect on the skin besides injections lasers, pdo etc. Regards MSc
No it’s not he has several different skin houses
what about the skin around the eyes
My husband has had several skin cancers removed…His Dermatologist recommended that he take ORALLY 1000 mg of niacinimide daily…..The research they were citing, showed that taking it orally will reduced the number of PRE- CANCEROUS LESIONS BY 25%……
Wow! Incredible! Thank u for sharing as I’ve never heard this.❤
The science says to never separate the b vitamins orally. Taking one without the others will surely be a problem later in life.
My husband visits the dermatologist every 6 months, and has done so for 20 years. Almost every time he has some basal or squamous cell cancer removed. He has had MOHS surgery twice. Two years ago, his doctor recommended he start taking oral niacinimide. It has now been two years since he has had any skin cancers. Although his experience might be considered anecdotal, it is consistent with the research.
My derm gave me the same advice
hi. would you mind sharing what brand he has been taking?
Hello, Im a licensed Skin Therapist. Before I even look at this video I would like to comment that when I saw the thumbmail, it made me smile. The reason is that I love this guy. I've noticed more and more how he challenges convention and gets into the nitty and gritty. I've learned so much.
Love how you explain everything with so much detail.
I love Dr. Karam's videos. I trust his knowledge. I use Niacinamide too, but I think I need to be more consistent with it. I do like it.
I’m so glad you covered Niacinamide so extensively. There isn’t this kind of deep dive out there!
Great video, have been adding this to my lotions and it's made an amazing difference in the hydration and suppleness.
I am an RN. Thank you for this educational video. I have been using this once a day and will increase it to twice a day.
I've learned a TON from him. For free. I don't buy his products, but I certainly am not at all "offended" by his promotion of such. Is anyone on CZcams not promoting SOMETHING that would benefit them? NO. BIG. DEAL. Scroll right past it!
Haha. Thanks!

Thanks so much! Just started using Niacinamide a few months ago. So glad you did a video on it. Already was using Retin A, Vitamin C and mineral based barrier sunscreen religiously. Your videos are some of my favorites and share them with friends. We appreciate you.
I’m confused about when you use what … please give me a run down of what you use when …
Would love an in-depth video on your polish enzymatic exfoliating powder. I LOVE how it makes my skin look.
Prefect timing! I just bought some last week. Thanks doc.
Thank you for all the education you’ve provided us! It occurs to me that I think of hydrating and moisturizing as the same thing, but realizing it is not. Would love to hear your thoughts on how the two work together. Thank you!
Niacinamide is probably my favorite skincare active. I’ve used it in serum form for years, first in La Roche Posay’s Pigmentclar (now d/c’d 😢) and now in their 10% Niacinamide serum. It has refined/ minimized my pores and is the only ingredient that has had a significant impact on my hyperpigmentation/sun spots.
Thank you, Dr. Karam , for emphasizing consistency and long term use. I found it took me about 4-6 weeks of daily use before I could see my sun spots fading. I had one spot that even makeup wouldn’t cover and now, years later, it continues to break up into smaller parts and lighter parts so I barely notice it anymore. My overall skin clarity is so much better when I use it, I never want to be without it.
Ive tried other products for hyperpigmentation like vitamin c (I do still use it) and tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin without real results.
Niacinamide is my skincare hero!❤
Niacinamide makes my skin red and bumpy. 🥲
I use LaRosay Posay too and love their products. Niaminicide also helps calm my very sensitive Rosacea fair skin.
@@jenxsj3902 You should not drink it 😛
Deeford which brand use please suggest
I have the ordinary one, should it be used on dry or damp skin?
This is why I love using the Trifecta Skincare System. What an excellent skincare school video Dr. Karam. Very educational and informative and I enjoyed it very much. These are the things we need to know about to do our homework. Thank you very much for this video to share Dr. Karam.
Niacinamide is and will forever be my favourite active. I tell of my friends to use it, and also the importance of sunscreen EVERY day! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! 💕
Thank you dr.karam! I really enjoyed your on depth video about niacinemide. Thank you for your time!!
Thank you @drkaram for taking the time and doing such informative videos! 👍🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for watching!!
Excellent video. Thanks Doc. Always superb presentations. ❤❤❤
I have such oily skin! Even the most matte products can't hide it for more than a few hours. I used to have normal skin when I was younger, but now that I'm 42 my skin is so oily. Luckily I have no acne issues, but I have noticed my 10% niacinimide really slows down the oil production. It's amazingly helpful!
Erno Laszlo sea mud soap is awesome for oily screen. Marilyn Monroe used the line. I started at 17 and now 62 and have great skin. I use sea mud soap and shake it/foundation won’t use anything else for cleansing. I do add niacinamide. 😊
Same here
If your skin happens to be dehydrated like mine, wouldn’t niacinamide make that issue worse? It’s confusing to me!
I have it in my RX Tretinoin mix. I was wondering what it did. Thank you. Been using it for a year. Things improved.
Thank you for this great information. You’re always very instructive
Thank you for all of the information that you share. I do use Niacinamide and I definitely see a difference. I am 76 and I think I am doing pretty well for my age. Also, I scrub my face every morning and then use my creamy cleanser. At the end of my shower, I turn off the hot water and rinse my face and body in really cold water and my face feels uplifted and bright.
Wonderful!
This was incredibly helpful and keeps me motivated to continue with my skin care. Sending you love, light and appreciation. 💜
I use Dr. Karam's Trifecta, and endorse his products because I see an improvement in my skin. The Illuminate is an all-in-one moisturizing cream that includes niacinamide. I appreciate the in-depth explanation in this video.
How much is the price of trifecta ?
@@petitpetit2928It's extremely expensive ...
I would like to check further into the Trifecta.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much doctor for sharing your knowledge ❤
For anyone asking why Dr Karam's products??? Well, I can tell you that the formulation he uses is spot on. Cheaper products make my skin red raw, but not Karam MD products - they are AMAZING!!! I promise you will achieve that elusive 'korean glass skin' look with his products.
So happy to hear that my products are working for you. If you have a minute… I would really appreciate it if you could write a review for us. Here is the link: karammdskin.com/collections/products/products/karam-trifecta
THanks Dr. Karam. This is very helpful. I have been on Trifecta for about 6 months. I love how much better my skin looks.
Thank you doctor! I love all your videos you teach me so much of how to care for my skin 💯🙌🏼🥰✔️🙏🏼‼️💪🏻💕
That was informative and well presented. Thanks so much.
I started using Niacinamade and zinc serum (along with retinol) over 6 months ago and it has changed my skin tremendously. Folks think I am in my 20s 😂I am much older than I look ❤
@quinmcmullen9437 which one are you using please?
Yes pls do tell us which brand are you using ?
@quinmcmullen9437 which products do you use? Thanks
@@s.n.e.8941 I use the cerave sa cleanser, the ordinary’s niacinamade and zinc serum, rosehip oil, ponds face cream, sunscreen, castor oil (at night) and differin adapalene gel (retinol) 2-3 times a week. I just turned 47! No one believes me 😊 I also use a facial steamer a few times a week.
Fantastic, informative videos as always … I enjoy them enormously… I too use niacinamide & yes it’s a fantastic skin ingredient… ❤
Thanks for the info. Is Niacinamide okay on the delicate under-eye area or above eyelids?
Thank you for this explanation.
I took a Niacin tablet, disolved it in water and rubbed it on my face. It turned my face really red. Then I applied some aloe Vera and the next day my skin looked great.
I use Niacinamide in my morning skincare routine and it’s been a game changer for my 63 year old skin, I incorporate it with my other skincare products, all medical grade products, I don’t use his brand of products but can get the same results from the brands I do use. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dr, I appreciate it very much. 😊🇦🇺
I use it morning and night. The ordinary is what I use
@-nellie-m3711. Which products do you use?
@@s.n.e.8941 I use a number of different medical grade skincare brands, currently I’m using Rejuvuas Niacinamide, it’s an Australian 🇦🇺 company, not sure where you are but I love all the products from that brand but often switch it up, NeoGenisis Recovery, TruOlogy Retinaldyhde, Photozyme DNA Repair serum, MDAir eye cream, MDAir neck serum (love that), that’s basically my nighttime routine, in the morning, I use Hydrinity mist, MDAir Vitamin C serum, Calecim multi action cream, Niacinamide serum, eye cream and sunscreen, that’s basically my morning skincare routine with products, I hope that helps, I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and it costs me a fortune 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ to get my skincare shipped from the USA 🇺🇸, but it’s worth every single dollar, I won’t use anything else on my coming up to @64 year old skin…☺️.. I also use Hydrinity Renew serum in the morning also, thought I might as well give you everything I use on my one and only face…😄
Can you tell me if Niacinamide actually helped you with fine lines and wrinkles??
Hi Dr Karam ! I truly enjoy your educational videos on skincare and aging gracefully.
After watching many of your videos I’d like your opinion on Clarins Double Serum, would you say this is a product to have in my anti aging arsenal or just a pretty bottle full of fluff ?
Thank you in advance and I look forward to your reply.
Thanks for such valuable information always. Can you please suggest a remedy for neck pigmentation please. Thank you
Hello Dr Karam, thanks for the useful information! Can I apply niacinamide under my eyes, or is it too dry-ing?
I’m 42 I hope by the time I need a face lift or lower neck lift you are still practicing. I’m saving my money!!!
Dr karams loving your videos 😊 xx
Hi Dr Amir🤗 firstly i congratulate you for ALL your uploads you are a genius with healing beauty hands😍😘 secondly i would like to ask what percentage in niacinamide serum is correct?
Thanks so much for your time & all the best🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻
You explaining it so well and it is so easy to understand. Thank you so much ❤
He's a wonderful and honest doctor!
Thanks Doc Karem 👍❤️👏🙏
Great video !
You're the best doctor
Love your videos Dr. Karam. I will be 81 years young in few weeks. I've been using the Trifecta along with the Polish since the beginning of June, faithfully in the AM & PM I never had a problem with breakouts but I'm having some breakouts recently. Should this be happening, very frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Trifecta has fragrance. Skin irritant. Niacinamide dries the skin so I can’t use it - my skin is dry mature age 51. I would avoid fragrance and niacinamide in products for sensitive dry mature skin.
I usted to use it as a sérum, but I don.t use it anymore, and I don.t miss it at all!
I would love to use Trifecta and made enquiries about having it shipped to Spain where I live but this was not possible. Hopefully, the Company will reconsider shipping to Europe.
Thank you for this great video! The trifecta looks perfect for me! But also wondered if you could please comment on another ingredient that seems to be all over the place, tretinoin. Should that be a part of a daily routine too?
Hi. Tretinoin is a retinoic acid, a very strong form of retinol, and in the Vitamin A family. Dr. Karam says it is an absolute must in the skincare regimen. I have used Tretinoin .5 strength at night for several years. So yep, you should be using Tretinoin every night on cleansed, DRY skin…don’t apply to damp skin or you could experience an unpleasant reaction. Hope that helps a bit.
Thank you so much - I really appreciate your comment and help! @@GirlNextDoor1103
Thanks for the imformation,👍
Great vid! Can you use Niacinamide with UVB treatments for vitilago? I have used it for years. thank you!
I just started niacinamide on my aging skin. For the first time in my life my oiliness and acne has been greatly reduced. I use it with 10% aleziec acid during the day with sunblock.
That's great!
What about fine lines and wrinkles after using Niacinamide?
Thankyou so very much!!!❤❤❤
I put Niacinamide serum on every day, plus it's in my sunscreen, Elta MD.
Thank you doctor AmirKaram for sharing these wonderful skincare tips. Im from the Philippines, and using barsoap with niacinamide ,may I ask if niacinamide bar soap will help my skin?
Excellent educational video!
Great info❤
I just ordered this a couple of days ago I can't wait to see the results
The only concern is percentage. Some board-certified dermatologists like dr Shereene Idriss do not recommend more then 5% since it can cause irritation.
Dr Amir you're amazing
In previous videos you have recommended that retinol be used at night and vitamin C in the day. Can Niacinamide be used at the same time as either retinol or vitamin C, as it is recommended to be used both morning and night?
I have always been told not to use niacinamide with vitamin C. This youtube is very interesting! I have always done niacinamide at night and vit c in the morning! Going to try both together day and night and see the outcome! Thanks for the information!
You should rotate vitamin C with Niacinimide. For example, use Vitamin C during the day and the other at night. This will help to avoid irritation.
I just saw my GP today, she suggested a NAD IV infusion. Would this form of niacinamide work from the inside for the skin? Anti-Aging was not the reason she suggested the IV infusion but would this form have any effects on the skin? Thanks!
Hi doctor...just a question.. with niacinamide being an ingredient present in a lot of skincare products, do i need to use the serum or using a moisturiser with it would suffice please?
Hello Dr.
I have a question? Where are your skin products manufactured?
This is so informative, thank you. Please talk about Glutathione supplements on skin
Loved the video. But please tell me isn’t combined g with vitamin c and niacinamide is too much on the skin ?
Do you get the same benefits from niacinamide taken orally?
awesome. thanks so much. very good. do we need a dedicated niacinimide serum or can it be in a moisturizer? and if we do use a serum, what percentage is best to start?
Not enough in products I should think. The Ordinary has it, probably 10$. I use several of their products. Btw, sunscreen in your cosmetics is a joke - not near enough. Use a sunscreen!
Is your 3 step skin care a 30 day supply? Or does it last longer than 30 days? If anyone knows how long the 3 step trifecta last please let me know.
How should you use niacinamide in conjunction with your daily skincare routine? What are the steps? Can you use it with retinol products?
Hi Dr Amir i would like to ask in which order do i layer Niacinamide ,Retinol & hyaluronic Acid?
Thanks loads & hope to hear from
you soon🤗
I bet that you will never Hear from him, Ever.
Hello. Thank you for video! I have a question "How we should clean skin after SPF" ?
You explain so well 🥲
Promoting and educating.
Very helpful. I would like to order your products.
Thank you!! You can purchase our KaramMD Skin products through our website: karammdskin.com/collections/products
I am loving all of your advice Dr Amir! Could you please tell us the order in which to use the products…ie am…cleanser, toner, vit c serum, then niacinimide, sunscreen, then moisturizer? And pm..cleanser, toner, retin a, hydraulic acid, niacninimide, then moisturizer? I am a skin freak, so I don’t mind doing the steps, but want to get them in the correct order!😊
In the morning, cleanse your face, apply serums, moisturizer, and finish with sunscreen. In the evening, start with a cleanser, apply serums, and conclude with a moisturizer.
You’re the Best! Thank you thank you! 😊
Thank you Dr. Karim! I wish you could speak to using several things on the face at night.......ie. can I use Niacinamide, and Cera Ve together.
Hi doctor! I love you 💕
Does it do anything for elasticity? Tighten at all?? Ty
Hello dr. I don't know if you have the time to read the comments and answer us.
Is niacinamide and peptides interfere with the use of retinol and vitamin c?
I read that use together make the one cancel the benefits of the other. Thank you.
Thank you.
Ponds Clarant B3 cream worked very well at removing dark spots & you
can't find any products w/ 5% B3 ( niacinimide) that costs less. Safe for
under eye circles & works faster than the eye creams I've tried.
All those symptoms seem to be from fortified iron overload in the diet over the decades. Just take raw material minerals and copper and donate blood regularly. ❤
I just ordered the skin care from him and it's on the way! My question is do I need sunscreen on days I don't go outside.
Yes! For more info on why, check out my blog post here: karammdskin.com/blogs/expert-advice/5-sunblock-anti-aging-tips-most-people-get-wrong
Le soir vitamine A en crème. (tretinoine 0.05 %)
Le matin vitamine C en sérum (booster C15 Paula's choice)
Puis Vitamine B en sérum (niacinamide 10% Paula's)
J ai tout bon et ma peau me remercie.
J adore vos vidéos, merci
How does this compare to ELEMIS collagen and ELEMIS Matrix night? Is ELEMIS effective for the price?
I love how Niacinamide is much milder to the skin and less prone to irritation (versus Ascorbic Acid) but what I don't like is that there can be a build up of white powdery product around the openings of the containers especially with higher percentages like 10%.
I agree it’s all about his products. I want his professional opinion on other products as well.
Will you do a video about licorice root oil?
Hello sir ,
Can I apply vitamin c, hyaluronoc serum and retinol serum on eye area? I have eczema on my upper eyelid.
Thanks
Is there such a thing as using too much Niacinamide? I'm already on the Trifect program...just wondering if adding more Niacinamide would help, hurt or not matter?
So, what's the order here ?
You already recommend retinol, Vitamin C as well as others.
That's quite a bit of stuff putting on your skin.
When do you apply Niacinamide amongst all those products, what is the exact order to put on your skin ?
@dramirkaram I have been on Trifecta for 6 months and while it is great for most of my face, the pores on my nose are as large as ever and I can squeeze stuff out of them every day - even within days after getting a facial/extraction. What do you recommend for this isolated issue? I am about to be 53.
I always get confused with this ingredient: is it ok for dry skin?
You are awesome Dr. Karam
Thanks so much!
Where in the roitine and how do I layer Niacinamide?
I’m using retinol at night, and vitamin C under my sunscreen during the day, interested to know which layer would I apply, below the vitamin C during the day, on top of the retinol at night?
Doc, if we are using serums like Vit C, retinol which comes first in application, is it before using Vit C & Retinol?
it's fun to learn new things 👍
In your videos promoting retinol and vitamin C, you talk about spacing those out 30 minutes. If incorporating Niacinamide, how would I do that (if not using your brand)?
