    Perfect tutorials for this. I am just starting and waiting for all my ingredients to arrive. I will spray paint my pan white as that is a great tip. Also, I will move into the garage with a work sink, instead of my kitchen!

    I loved hearing EVERY detail of how you did this marbeling. You laid out all of the info in a great, easy to follow way! Have you done any more since this video came out? I think these prints are so professional looking. The difference between this and shaving cream marbeling is so apparent! People who can take the few minutes it takes to learn the basics will be able to create stunning effects! Thanks so much for showing this! It put me in mind of William Morris for some reason...the prints are just gorgeous!

    I just did a marble kit from amazon and i didnt have to do anything to my paper...thr paint appears to be acrylic and i have no idea what the water stuff was..made it kind of slippery feeling and had to sit for 6 hours to dissolve...i didnt get to it for a whole other 24 hours and it worked fantastic...bright as all get out..and floated wonderfully..

    • @ideastimestwo3522
      @ideastimestwo3522  Před 2 lety

      Hi, I think what's typically used is urea for fabric, but I have very little experience with fabric. Also, make sure the fabric can absorb paint (cotton, silk, rayon, etc)

    hi! unfortunately I can't buy from that website since I'm Italian and shipping from the US means huge taxes (i tried once with Angelus paint for leather and that was terrible). So what kind of colors do you recommend to use?
    Online somepeople say oil colors, others say gouache...any advice?

  • @colmhain
    @colmhain Před 2 lety +1

    Is there a reason to NOT treat both sides of the paper with alum? Would different paper like cotton paper hold the alum better?

    • @ideastimestwo3522
      @ideastimestwo3522  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi. The paint only needs to stick to one side, so I treat only that side. However, if you want to dip the paper and get both sides covered, I don't see a problem with that.
      The alum oxidizes and becomes ineffective, so I'm sure it would be the same on any paper--although I have not tried it out.

    • @colmhain
      @colmhain Před 2 lety +1

      @@ideastimestwo3522 O.K., so it's a matter of the alum chemically changing with age as opposed to evaporating or wearing off. Gotcha, thanks.

    Can a squeeze bottle be used to apply the paint if you want solid lines

    • @ideastimestwo3522
      @ideastimestwo3522  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Gloria. I'm not sure. I would think if you squeezed out only a small amount (so it wouldn't sink) and gently dropped it on the surface it may work. I have never tried it though, do I can't say for sure. Thank you for your question.

      it depends on the thickness of your paint and water or whatever dipping mixture you use. i do try lines but they normally just spread out across the surface no matter how hard i try to avoid it. id love to know if anyone figures out how to achieve this though!

      @ideastimestwo3522  Před 3 lety

      I haven't worked with ceramics enough to know for sure but I think acrylics can be used with ceramic, you should just have to seal it. Be sure to check other sources for this information also. Thank you!

      HI Mike,
      Thank you for your input; I appreciate the feedback. I thought I had presented each step in a logical order. I did have notes; sometimes it is difficult to express things perfectly when you only have one chance to film. Hopefully, the next marbling video (to be made soon) will be an improvement to this offering.~Betsy

      Hello Tracy, thank you for your comment. I felt I was totally prepared for this video but, obviously, it did not come across that way. It is easy to forget a detail or two when a person has to transfer all components from one place to another so as to film. I did have notes, but in the course of filming this in a conversational style, it maybe seemed flippant and not thought out. I hope you will stay tuned for part 2 and maybe it will be new and improved. Once again, I appreciate your input.~Betsy
