    It’s the damn negative battery sensor!
    My cousin and I got stranded after work and he has a 2006 550i BMW. We spent hours trying to find out why the car won’t start… locked steering wheel? Battery dead? Alternator? And so on.
    Thanks to this comment section we unplugged the negative battery cable sensor wire (thin little set of wires connected to the battery black wire). After that it started up immediately.
    The thing is that he also replaced his battery 2 weeks prior to this issue. I guess programming it with a BMW technician is crucial.
    Thank you CZcams!

    Just a foot note... did you run a vehicle test to see if you had any faults present to be found before beginning to run any tests and diagnose good idea to run faults.. good video.

    Yo, that would be legit if you can tell me what was wrong with my 02 525i BMW I'm. I was driving down the road and it kind of started sputtering and then it died it won't even turn over and show - lights after it has been sitting for about a year and I charge the battery for over 8 hours on a trickle charger, the lights still won't show up on the dash warning what could be wrong with the car. It would be freaking sweet dude if you got a hold of me bro

      To get into neutral remove cover on stick shift, there is a cover to the upper left that can be removed with the key, under it is a slot, pull down the section in the slot holding it keeps it neutral.

    Check and replace the cas relay it is behind the globe compartment it is only $ 20.00 original from BMW that may fix your problem. I had exactly the same symptoms on my 06 325i and fix it replacing this relay thanks to a video that I watched on u tube from electric car repair

      @tznutz4824 Před 3 lety

      I think the 3series and 5series has different location for the relay as yours might be in the glove compartment, the 5series would be in the rear trunk.

      @@doggboy6688 its literally where the battery is located along with the fusebox. All you have to do is follow the positive cable that connects to the box and the relay is literally next to it as it sticks out you can’t miss it.

      @@narbehakanikominas3226 Not sure about the lights, but BMW should disconnect that wire on every car! I sold new BMW'S for years, I wish I would have known about this years ago. The mechanics are clueless about this problem and it cost me a fortune. I haven't had a starting problem since I disconnected that wire in over a year. It's a free solution to a big problem! You should have registered the battery, the computer remembers the old one and tries to handle it the same way (meaning the charging will be messed up and you can destroy the new battery or burnout by over charging, ie feeding high voltage to a number of other systems). Also when you disconnect the battery you wipe the memory on a number of the other systems on the car, you should jump the car from the engine points to keep the systems powered while you swap out the battery. The Internal Battery Management System (IBS) which has an explosive safety disconnect on the red (plus) connector on the battery can get triggered, the accessories will still work but power to the starter is cut, this normally happens after triggering the airbags but can happen by doing other stupid things to the car (you can check this by jumping from the red post on the battery to the red post jump point in the engine compartment, which will get power to the starter, although the engine will stay running once you disconnect the jumper cable, the charging system will not work unless you leave the jumper hooked up, I did this to drive the car to the shop for service).

    Bmw suck , keep them in Europe along with all the shady mechanics and manufacturers. These cars are designed to fell and have the owner pay just as much in repairs and parts as they did for the whole car.
