3 days ago my E60 523i had the same problem after driving in heavy rain and through some light flooding at full speed, after stopping in the parking lot for 1 hour I tried to start it couldn't, finally I saw where the battery had water seeping from the body vent, then I try opening your youtube and following how to remove the blue cable and return home safely after going through a fairly long road jam, then until the cable house is installed again and until now with the cable position installed it is still safe to start. Vroom Vroom no Broke My Wallet this week however I did just dump 2200 for a steering rack and front hub and wheel speed sensor
I had the same on a 2017 F15 X5. The mechanic said it put itself in transfer mode and was draining up to 18A of battery charge. The transfer mode was disable and problem disappeared. It took 4 mechanics and nearly 2 weeks in the shop to reach this conclusion.

my bmw does the exact same thing only when it rains and when it dries up it starts again, which i thought would be somewhere electrical but i never thought it would be the ibs. i am going to try this the next time my car wont start. thanks for the help.
I have a 2006 745i look similar same issue was running fine we took of she hit sport mode bc I had been bitten by a venomous sake car has done it a few times I was able to slowly get it to work I’ve chargers batts.. must see tho..
You need it plugged in the sensor tells the computer how much voltage too send back to the battery too keep it charged correctly too avoid over charging or under charging the battery. The computers in the car rely on the battery to produce correct amount of current for the car too function at its best.
So just pulling random fuses and wires....a lot of "I don't knows" going on. Maybe you should "know " what you're doing and maybe your car wouldn't be breaking down. This Def is a "user malfunction " rather than a mechanical one. Ignorance is bliss.

I never put mine back in :) if you want to then you need to replace the sensor (BIS) which is around $100.
You need it plugged in the sensor tells the computer how much voltage too send back to the battery too keep it charged correctly too avoid over charging or under charging the battery. You need to get a new cable or else your battery will always drain...
