- We’re in New Hope, Pennsylvania for a rare look at the live/work property of the late, great George Nakashima -- one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. George was a leader of the American craft movement. He was also an architect, artist, innovator and humanitarian who spent much of his life building what is affectionately now called the Nakashima Compound. His daughter, an architect and designer in her own right, takes us on a tour.
The work carries out by George Nakashima combines art, architecture, and form, and function. It was minimalist, simple, and honest. Clear inspection reveals that the joint was carefully crafted. Each piece is uniques and timeless.

Wow just amazing I miss him a lot. I got to meet him in the early 60's with my father and uncle they both had several pieces of furniture made by him back in the 1950-65 period. He made me a simple tea table back in 1967 very kool loved to use it for many years.
Those architectural renderings are something else, the man was a multidimensional artist.
