- The official Star Tours Shutdown Ceremony at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The closing took place during the Last Tour to Endor event as part of Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Florida. The ride is closing for an overhaul and will open in 2011 as a 3D simulator ride called Star Tours - The Adventures Continue.
This ceremony took place for those attending Star Wars Celebration V. The actual shutdown date for the ride is Sept. 8, 2010.

Disney can't just close a ride, they have to make a whole show out of it. love it.
I was actually there. What's really funny is that they let people go on the ride right after this, ruining the illusion a bit.
Yes Katherine! The video is so funny. In fact, I rode the new Star Tours ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios back in 2013 which is almost 10 years ago.

it's so nice to be able to see this! I was there, but all I could see were arms holding up cameras in front of me, so I couldn't see AT ALL.
Darth Vader became Mickey's main enforcer. I don't know what to think about that.

Maybe it's because I never went on Star Tours, even though I was going to Disneyland before the ride debuted back in 86, but this was an awesome closing ceremony, although I can understand the disappointment. Hell, it's awesome it got a closing ceremony. The Mouse didn't do jack when my favorite ride, "20,000 Leagues", closed.

This really sucks. when i got to disnayland for my wedding hunnymoon in ovctober it will me closed :( it was one of my favorite ride as a child.

Yes Zachery. We have very good memories of the old Star Tours ride. In fact, I rode the new Star Tours ride for the first time back in 2013 when I was 11 years old.

@Gendarme1501 Are you kidding me, Space Mountain kept a lot of the original charm and I don't know if you rode Space Mtn in the last couple of years before the refurbs, but it was physically painful it was in such bad shape.

Sorry for the delay in response, but 1138 refers to THX-1138, one of George Lucas's pre-Star Wars movies. 1138 appears numerous times in the Star Wars saga. Snow White premiered in theaters on 12/21/1937
