- Welcome to the trilogy of What if Anakin Talked to Padme after Palpatine Revealed he was the Sith! Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker sat next to his good friend Chancellor Palpatine, observing the Mon Calamari ballet performance, unaware that he was being drawn away from the Jedi, and into the trappings of the Sith. As Palpatine began to increase Anakin’s doubts about his allegiance to the Council, he used Anakin’s nightmares about Padme to his advantage, telling the story of how Darth Plagueis could influence midichlorians to prevent others from dying, which was what Anakin needed to hear. As they walked the centre of the Galactic City, another piece of Palpatine’s plan came together, as Anakin’s closest Jedi companion Obi-Wan departed for Utapau, and he was left to dwell on his doubts without his master. After receiving a report that Obi-Wan had engaged with General Grievous’ forces on Utapau, Anakin is again left alone with Palpatine, who finally reveals that he was the Sith Lord that the Jedi had been looking for, and pleads with Anakin to use his knowledge to save Padme. Full of conflict, Anakin return to the Jedi Temple, and there he informs Mace Windu of the revelation, and to the annoyance of the Jedi knight, he is told to remain at the Temple, and stay away from the confrontation. The lack of trust from Windu would be the downfall of the Jedi master, as Anakin disobeyed the order, and chose to save Palpatine by slicing off the Jedi master’s hand, sealing his transformation to the dark side. But what if Anakin had gone to Padme instead of Windu? Could she help him away from the path of the dark side? As you will discover, a lot could have been different...

One thing I've never really thought about is that, if Anakin and Padme both lived and stayed together, there would likely be more than just two skywalker children. Being young adults, Padme and Anakin could possibly have 5-6 more kids by the time of the battle of yavin. The sith wouldn't stand a chance

Yeah! In early concept art and drafts of the script that’s actually what killed her. I could see why the that wouldn’t work in the time frame of the movie and what not but still woulda been cool

This is the plot of revenge of the sith that i tell myself everyday so that I dont feel sad.
The one thing that bugs me about this one is Sidious still couldve went through with executing order 66 to turn the clones on the Jedi. Other than that though this was great I really enjoyed it!
He would need to still be the Chancellor for that to work.

As Dan pointed out Palpatine would need to still be Chancellor but even if he was unless something happened that could be framed as treason then Order 66 could backfire horrendously.

99% of the prequels plot is either “and then Anakin did it anyway” or “Jar Jar fucked it up again”
Id like to point out that likely the Jedi council wouldn’t have let Anakin train Luke and Leia. They would have been to close to them, more likely it would have been someone else that they trusted. Yoda or Obi-wan. It would have been a large change from the previous ways and i do think Yoda would have taken an intimate role in their training.
It be a good movement from Anakin, Padme could save him to the Dark Side.

It would meant nothing. You ever watched the Silo Beast episode from the Clone Wars? Padme was advocating for delivering the beast to his home-world but the Chancellor Palpatine was against it, and Anakin agree with Palpatine mocking the idea of his wife in her face.

I would absolutely love to see this fully fleshed out as a "what if" thing, into either a limited clone wars style animated series, or a 1-2 part live action movie
By the time this occurred the Senate had no power, Palpatine had moved all the pieces to give himself all the power, the Senate was just a rouse. Palpatine would have hunted Anakin before his power grew to something he could not beat, more than likely Palpatine was never sure Anakin would fully turn until he had nothing left to pull him away from the dark, so he more than likely had a contingency plan.

What if after her term as Queen of Naboo ended, Padme retired from political life (declined the role of Senator), to live quietly in Naboo's lake country? Would Palpatine still try to assinate her?
Most likely not as he tried to assassinate her because of her connection with Anakin. And if she never became a Senator she never had a chance to reconnect with Anakin.

main problem with this. why would palpatine NOT issue Order 66? it would majorly help his escape as well as give him plenty of time to complete the ritual. the senate didn't vote him out until AFTER he left the planet. everything else following was severly reliant on Order 66 not happening, which it definitely would have.
Perhaps because IF HE DID the clones might attack or overwhelm Anakin and he can't have that

The Jedi wouldn't have been able to convince the senate that Palpatine was evil. They had no proof beyond Anakin's word. Palpatine was respected and seen as a good man by many. He could've shown back up and admitted publicly to being a Sith, and it wouldn't have changed anything because the public don't know much about the Sith. They would see it as another branch of force users.

They wouldnt banish anikan. At least not yet. Not until he 'fullfilled' the prophecy. Then they'd probably kick him out & sensing the potential of the children take them.
Don't think so. I believe that Palpatine had too big part of the Senate under his control to be voted out like that. It would not look plausible, but the vote would go in Palpatine's favour.
Instead, I believe he would leave a note in his office that he is in a different part of the Senate (not Jedi, I will be there, but a reminder - go to the chamber XY to inspect something), where he would be together with a lot of clone troopers and his senatorial supporters. There Jedi masters would attempt to arrest the Chancellor and the chancellor would refuse, based on that they do not have permission from the senate. If Windu would not attack, Palpatine would bait Anakin into attacking by mentioning Padme. Then Palpatine would activate order 66.
And can you say, that Palpatine had not this backup plan prepared? (and some another backup of backup, in case Jedi decided to take matter in front of the Senate first, before arresting Palpatine)

I don't think Palpatine would give up that easily. I would have bet that he would use Padme to enrage Anakin to make it look like the Jedi were trying to overthrow him, and still would have executed order 66, and that would still cripple the Jedi and undermine their authority for a very long time. It may take a few more thousand years before the Sith could try to exterminate the Jedi again, but I am sure Palpatine had a plan for if he could not corrupt the chosen one.
Lets remember The Chosen One was not part of Plegas's and Palpatine's Plan from the start. They were still very much ready to take control and eliminate the Jedi

What if Palpatine had been killed by General Grievous during the attack on Coruscant? What if, during that mad chase, Palpatine's concentration had slipped, just for a moment, while he was pretending to be powerless, and a careless strike from Grievous' lightsaber had killed him, right in front of Mace Windu and Shaak-Ti. Suddenly unburdened and with the Jedi Distracted, The crafty general escapes in triumph. The Separatists would see the death of Palpatine as a great victory, not knowing that he was really Darth Sidious. Only Dooku knew the truth. The Republic would be reeling. How would the war progress when it no longer had a puppet master pulling the strings on both sides. With Dooku and Grievous still controlling the vast Droid armies, it would be a perfect time to press the attack, supposing that the now masterless Dooku, saw his best path to power in winning the war and assuming power in his own right. Knowing the secret of order 66, he would find a way to issue the order himself, but only when his own forces would be in a position to take advantage of the chaos. With clone troopers suddenly abandoning the fight and turning on their Jedi generals, Dooku's droid armies seize the moment and inflict crippling damage on the Republic. The Senate, now leaderless breaks down into bickering factions, fighting over who will lead and how they will move forward. When they find Coruscant blockaded by Separatist ships, they have no choice but surrender. Dooku imposes martial law, as he promises peace and freedom, fairness and justice to the new members of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. But they are just words. He becomes Emperor in all but name. The Jedi remaining on Coruscant are tried for war crimes if they are captured, with various and sundry atrocities attributed to them. Dooku would probably not order the culling of the younglings, playing the role of the protective father figure, rescuing their impressionable young minds from the deluded cult that he had once been a part of. He would mold them into a new sith order, but never call it that. The remaining Jedi, would go into hiding, taking the blame for Palpatine's crimes, which would be leaked to the public as "investigations" continue under the new Confederacy. Many Jedi would lose their faith as the realize the monstrous cause they were fighting for. Some will begin to believe that Dooku was right all along and join his new Jedi order. The new teachings are very different. Training in the dark side is now called balance. Those that reject the new ways are quietly culled, in "training accidents". Resistance cells persist, but it is harder to organize massive resistance to something as innocuously named as "The Confederacy of Independent Systems" with each state being at least nominally, independent and free to govern themselves as they wish.
the only thing that contradicts a part of your headcannon is that sith ritual requires 2 sith not 1 and here only palpatine is the sith who would do the ritual and also the sith ritual also needs a drop from one of the sith. The only other "sith" was maul but he doesn't call himself a darth but just a maul and he doesn't consider himself a sith plus he hates palpatine, is imprisoned, and if palpatine did free him by some raid maul would never work with him but rather work with the jedi to end palpatine

He woudln't kill the separatists when he lost control of the clone army. He'd need all the help he could get. And why would he randomly toss Padme on the ground?
