As a saiyan warrior myself I can confirm this is how our armor is made
I'm not a huge Dragonball fan, but this has so much to it for inspiration for other armor pieces. Awesome as always! I love your content, very professional.
Looking forward to seeing the influx of Saiyans at Dragon Con whenever we're allowed to gather again.
Solid video as always, Steve!
Thanks Kev and yeah I hope this gets people motivated for future gatherings!!
Love the look of this! I'm not a DBZ fan myself, but I know the armor, and this is just a great evolution from the standard white and yellow design from the show. That gold REALLY pops, the same finish would look amazing on some gold accents on medival armor, or even on an Iron Man armor. Really great work!
Thank you very much! Yeah I like to put a different spin on things that have been seen time and time again. I really appreciate it 👍
Thank you for including where it should fit relative to our body, that's incredibly useful!
You’re welcome!
I'm using your video to make my own 1/6 scale Vegeta action figure. You're very easy to understand even for a beginner like myself. Thank you for your tutorial!
Awesome! Glad I could help 🙌
Another great build, can’t wait to see part 2. This is already being shared!
Thank you very much! part 2 is in the works!
Amazing job! I saw this over on your Instagram and could not wait for the video to come out. 👍👍😀
Fantastic! and Thanks for the support! 👍
Amazing work! I'll definitely be making this for my cosplay in September! Can't wait
Fantastic 👍
That looks amazing. Thanks for keeping busy with these projects. Just ordered my foam so I can start this build. Can't wait to see the battle damaged one. Keep it up.
Thank you very much!! And thanks for the support! 👍👍
Baseball bat foam anvil! 🤯 mind blown!
Whatever works!!
Awwwwwwwwesome!!! Can't wait to do this, good thing about this that this could also work for Madara's armor (Naruto Shippuden) and just random Samurai Armor!
Super keen to attempt this.. and you've done an amazing job
Thank you very much! and I hope you have fun with the build!
First time viewer, instant subscriber. As a bit of a bigger dude, (similar height to you, just heavier) I've often had issues with scaling and such. I've wanted to do a Saiyan build for a long time, so this will definitely be on my list of projects in the hopeful near future!
That's fantastic to hear I'm glad I could help you out!
Love it!! Definitely making this one!
Good to hear be sure to tag me so I can check it out 👍
Amazing build as always!!
Thank you very! 👍👍
This is just AWESOME !!!!
Thank you very much! 🙌🙌
Awesome work!!! I need this armor for my nephew birthday of Dragon Ball and this is exactly what i need!! Thanks! 👏👏👏
Glad I could help!
Yeeesssss I been looking for a 1st project and this is it!!!

This is awesome, might have to go as nappa to dragoncon this year
That would be awesome! Lots of people have put this pattern together 🙌
I tried making this armor a long time ago, can’t wait to try and make this some day! I challenge myself to build my first version in a day using only what I had, and it only lasted about a day! But it got the job done!
That is great to hear, Always keep challenging yourself! Hope my tutorial helps you out!
Someone posted your vids on reddit! INSTANT SUB! Awesome stuff!!!
Thank you very much!
this is so well done, champ👍
Thanks! 🙌🙌
Awesome build, I really like that armor and show
Thanks man!

Thank you quick reply! You a savior
Esa armadura está increíble!!!
Me gusto tanto que trataré de hacer una igual 👍

Thank you! Have fun with your build 👍
Outstanding once again!
You and I are very similar in stature so hopefully I dont need to modify it too much :D
Thank you very much have fun with the build!
This is awsome. Would love to see the old style too.
Thanks! It's in the works because everything is cooler with shoulder pads 😂
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
I need to use the round dowels for a project soon so this was really helpful!
Awesome! Glad I could help!
wow so cool !
Thank you very much!
Excellent work and the template is awesome, everything is there, no need to ask any question. My only wish would be for a version with the shoulder part, it would be awesome !
Thanks! I have it on my list of things to eventually make…but it’s a looonnngggg list 🙌
Thanks for this, im making a vegeta video and i will use this armour to recreate his final flash vs cell.
Thanks!
I am a huge dragon ball fan
I’ve got to make this!
Do it!!
I'm running out of adjectives to describe your work Steve, so I'll have to go with "awesome".
It is interesting to hear that you wanted to do a red primer for the metallics, but when you show of the armour after the 3 coats of bronze, it is actually wicked, and although flat, I don't know if I wouldn't just run with it as it was.
First off thanks! The red primer would have just made coverage a lot easier I could have done just one coat of the bronze then moved on to the gold.
@@SKSProps Steve, I just rewatched your video, as I'm doing a samurai armour and I have another question for you: any particular reason why you used 10mm for the base and not 6mm? I was thinking of using 5mm (which is what I have and got at an online shop in Belgium) which will have 2 layers after the details, but after watching your video, I'm not sure if it is a good plan. My doubt is if with 2 layers of 5mm it won't be to flimsy, but I'm afraid that going with 10mm and 5mm that it might get too bulky...
@@diogo.rodrigues.1884 if you’re layering 2 5mm sheets that might be fine for stability. That’s why I used the 10mm vs the 6
Thank you !
You’re welcome!
New to your page and I can't wait to try your tips out! I never used the HD foam but I love creating pieces. Thanks for the tutorials! #NewSub
Awesome! and welcome to the channel! 🙌
Cool
Thank you!
Good stuff. I know a store in my town that carries that foam.
Thanks!!
This looks awesome, I hope that one day I will be able to make something looking this good. Question, could you please consider meaning Hazels mask/helmet from The Umbrella Academy, because with the helmet you need only a suit and the full cosplay is done
Thanks! Maybe on the mask.. it was a pretty cool design...worse case you can usually buy those online pretty cheap 👍
This is very helpful. You should also do the version with the shoulder pauldrons for other saiyan characters
Thanks! It's on my list...but it's a long list 😅
@@SKSProps I can't wait. I also run a dragonball cosplay charity group and make alot of the cosplays for my members so having an easy to follow pattern would be super handy
Esta muy padre :o
Thank you very much!
I'm a average dragon ball fan and I find this epic. Now the only thing that comes to mind is can I make Digimon armor from this
Thanks! and I have seen several people use this pattern as a base for other armor builds so good luck
200 likes none dislike. I said that is perfect👌
👍👍👍
Wow
Thanks!
Yay!!!🙌🤘😎💪
Thanks!!
@@SKSProps sure thing buddy!
looks amazing! have you made one with the full shoulders and lower half like in the sayain saga style? that's what I'm trying to build
Not yet shouldn’t be hard to just add them to the build several others have done that with my templates to make theirs
I'm going to use the pattern for a Star Wars Build(s).
Muito massa
thank you for this!ive wanted my own armor ever since i first saw vegeta!i bought a shirt modeled like it but it isnt enough!thank you again!will you also make the pauldron version too?both versions are cool!
You’re welcome!! And yes I want to try and make the other versions as well 👍
@@SKSProps awesome i cant wait to watch them all!
This is really great, me and my husband are looking to make it for his cosplay, but quick question, what scale should we print the templates out at, were new to this 😅
Thanks! It’s already scaled check out my how to print templates video
Hi. Btw i love your videos!!
can you make a ken kaneki mask?
Looks really great. *Adds obligatory over 9000 comment.*
Thanks Wayne!
I'd like to make a replica of Raditz's Saiyan armor, and I'd like to see a replica of Fasha's armor from the DBZ movie Bardock: Father of Goku.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! 🙌
I'm not gonna lie, as someone who not only loves DragonBall Z, but is very critical when it comes to good cosplay for it, I couldn't help but be skeptical from the start of the video.
But no, much to my surprise, even though the finished product is what inititally made me skeptical, after seeing you go through the process, somehow that made it look better, more accurate. And I have to hand it to you, this IS probably the best pattern and design I've seen implemented for this type of Saiyan Armor.
But I do have one very importabt question: how truly flexible is it? (As in, when you're wearing, how flexible are you and the movement you can do while wearing it?)
Because for me, that's 100% when it comes to cosplay; that my movement isn't restricted.
Thanks! Foam is flexible there shouldn’t be any issues with your arms. The only thing that might be hindered would be your spine in bending over depending on how far you have the armor coke down. But honestly I don’t think that would be bad either.
Be sure to check out part 2 where I show how to cel shade
I would love to see you do one of the saiyan armor from the saiyan and namek sagas. The one with the jutting shoulder plates and the possibly bottom parts that I don't remember what they're called
I've started those patterns just need to finish them I build week to week depending on what is inspiring me at the time
@@SKSProps I can't wait to see that video
This is awesome! How long would the build take approximately?
Thanks! It took me a bit longer because I had to create the templates and film. But with the templates complete should only take a couple of days
If you had primed the ribs first, what would you have painted it with? a spray can? air brush? hand paint? enamel? acrylic? just curious. Thanks for the vid man. Working on mine now. The HD foam is fantastic too btw.
Thanks! I would have sprayed on some Krylon red oxide primer
Can you do sayian boots next
Love your painting methods. How do you avoid those pesky brush strokes when hand painting acrylics on something that's supposed to have a uniform finish like that armor?
Thanks! A lot of it has to do with the quality of your brush and the quality of your paints. The cheaper the brush the more rigid the bristles and the cheaper the pain the lower the pigment count. Plus I've been painting for 30+ years so technique of handling the medium is important as well.
you should make the sword blue exorcist
It would be interesting to see a shinobi flak jacket using foam XD
I have though about doing some punisher type vests that might be good for several different versions!
@@SKSProps That would be awesome to see!
Can you possibly do a Madara Uchia? These are all awesome!
I’ve never watched Naruto but maybe I’ll check that out 👍
@@SKSProps awesome! It's a bit more than the Saiyan Armor as it covers more of the body, shoulders, waits and frontal area. I have seen others do it, but your attention to detail, and explanations are a whole lot better to follow.
Also thank you for a quick response! I commented on another DIY creator nearly 4months ago on a question about how they made something. Still have yet to get a response.
Your work is awesome and fun to follow!
You think you could make Vegeta's boots to go along with it? I would really appreciate it!
Next Halloween I'm gonna make this. Gotta make sure it's steel cuz there's a kid in my class that HATES Dragon ball
Have fun!
@@SKSProps I'll try🙂
Amazing work as always team!! Can I ask what scissors/shears you are using in the video?
Thanks! They are actually a pair of old leather shears from Tandy leather. I bought new ones so I tried these a while back on foam and they work great!
@@SKSProps cheers mate! Appreciate you taking the time to reply. I’m definitely buying a pair for sure! Love your work!
Do you think your foam would be dense enough, specifically the 6mm, to use for larp armor? Or should I use tnt cosplays eva 70 foam?
There is a difference there in density and shore hardness. Tnts Eva 70 is a shore hardness of 70 which means it’s harder but not as dense as my HD-Foam which like most others is a shore hardness of 38. Basically mine will be smoother and hold details better but it won’t be as rigid as a higher shore. So a technique you could use would be to have a stiffer foam underneath for protection and a foam like mine on top for all of the details. Hope that helps 👍
Amazing job! Hey, how would you fit or modify the template to make it fit a kid?
Thanks, You’d needed to probably scale it 25-30% down
But it depends on the age and size of the child
@@SKSProps Hi! What is an easy way to scale it down by percentage? My kid is 6yo and is about 3 ft 6 in, usually wears a 6T t-shirt size
Excellent video...approximately how many sheer of HD foam are needed for this build?
Thanks! One sheet of each 10mm and 6mm and 1 pack of each half round size 15mm and 20mm
How to make saga sayan armor just like broley
Please make King Bradley's sword pleas
Any chance of the shoulder pad version?
Already in the works
I’ll try to make the armor with your templete but not have measures.
Open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the printer settings that will scale it to your paper then cut it out and fit it to your body type
Hey would you be able to create a vegeta chest armor exactly like this one in your video? If so what would be the cost?
I no longer take commissions I just don't have the free time that's is why I put out the build videos and free templates for other to make their own
Is there a reason as to why you should use foam? Wouldn’t plastic be better?
No, foam is inexpensive, forms well, is a good thickness, and is lightweight. I don’t know what kind of plastic you are considering but even if you were to vac form some shells. The cost of the vac former, material, and overall comfort wouldn’t be worth it
Hi! I tried printing your pattern off of your website, but I don't have the option to print it as "poster" size, do you have any recommendations for this?
You need Adobe acrobat or adobe reader, Watch my how to print templates video
Halloween party is Saturday and I need to hurry
Can't wait to make this with battle damage lol hole in the chest
Fantastic! Be sure to tag me so I can see it!
They didn't have the smaller foam tubes as they are OOS. Do you have any suggestions on what I can use as a substitute?
Sorry, We’ve got a bunch on the way just waiting on the boat to get here. Michael’s used to have some as well. Their foam sheets are terrible but their dowels were a different density. Before my half rounds people used to try to use window insulation rounds and cut them in half. But they are very porous so they won’t have a smooth finish
@@SKSProps Thanks!!! I appreciate the help!!! Currently about to start making I just need that one thing smh! I may run to Michaels and see if they have some.
when, kamen rider will have a template?
I want to try and recreate this for my 6 year old, any hints on resizing scaling the pdf to fit him?
That's great1 It's hard to say but maybe 15-20% you're just going to have to play with it as you can see it is even big for my face but that is on purpose
sorry for the stupid question, but i'm a complete newcomer to this. what't the rough size of paper i should print the template on? i rather not waste too much material with try and error
Open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the printer settings that will scale it properly across 15 sheets
@@SKSProps aaah, i see. thanks :D
How do you alter the size for Larger body size
For height increase the percentage scale it’s printed out. For width you’ll see on the template armor side where you can extend or cut down the foam to fit you
best channel ...
i live in brazil, how would i make the HD-Foam Dowels? because I didn't find it here to buy. I tried to do it in some ways and it kind of didn't work. would you know how to do? and maybe teach to do?
sorry my english is not very good, so i used google translator.
Thanks! I’d look at a hardware store for pipe insulation. It usually comes in a package rolled up you can cut them in half. It won’t be as smooth as hd-foam dowels but you gotta work with what you can get 👍👍
thanks
Would a single roll of 10 mm HD Foam be enough to make the armor? Or is more than one roll necessary? Thank you!!
Sheet of 6mm and 10mm would be enough with plenty left over for your next project
Hello! I have the templates downloaded, but the additional material part causes me some doubts, whether I should leave them or not, in my case I am not a very robust or wide man, I am 1.80 cm tall and weigh 73kg and I have an athletic build, but I am not width, so, I have cut those insoles with additional material in case I have to adjust them to my measurements, the problem comes from the fact that I don't know how to adjust them or if I really need that additional material for my complexion, I have never done anything similar and that causes me doubts If you can give me some reference I would appreciate it, maybe for my height and build with the standard measurements it would work? My question here is how to adjust it. I can even give my chest and waist measurements. 91cm chest and 80cm waist, which I understand are the parts that can vary the dimensions of the vest. For exemple part B, part C and E.
What If I don’t want the chest part to be raised or the abs to be a different piece. What if I just want it to be completely flat?
Then modify it to make you own templates so it's flat
Also, how would I scale it to fit me?
Always wanted one of these but didn’t want to pay £300
and all the other videos it either looks crap or is explained terribly
yours is finally a good one
but I’m 5”11 and 240 pounds and in a wheelchair
how would you suggest I scale it
Thanks! You need to open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the printer settings then you can scale it. With the added material I have on the template maybe increase by 5%
Okay thanks
With your foam clay, is it possible to make a mask with the push mold method? The thickness would be about 10mm.
You could but I’d still back it with contact cement and 2mm foam or felt for support
@@SKSProps ok cool! Thanks a lot!
Your dremel sanding bit, did you deliberately wear off all the grit? I have never found any way of dremeling that didnt end up getting real fuzzy and not being able to fix it. Does it just work better with your HD foam?
Also super glue vs contact cement. I usually try to steer clear of super glue because every time i tried it, it ended up just cracking and breaking the foam. Was I likely just using it super wrong?
Yes I wear down my drums and I actually have a video planned where I show how. Also yes my HD-Foam will sand and cut smoother because of how it’s designed. The lower the density the more fuzzies you’ll get. If you ever have a chance to try my brand you’ll see the difference immediately 👍
I use contact cement for large or heavy flex areas but I’ve always had really good luck with bob smith gap filling medium super glue. Works much better than regular locktite or zap. Also the type of foam makes a difference. Tried so foam from Michaels for comparison it didn’t like superglue at all would either crack or crystallize and not hold
@@SKSProps Alright awesome thanks! Have you considered having like a sample box of WAY small samples of each of your foams for testing purchasable from your shop? Found a friend that is just trying to get into foamsmithing, so I said id give her a bunch of my massive over stock of TNT foam for free to start out. Nothing against TNT, especially their super high density 2mm rolls which I love, but I REALLY want to check out all of yours too so I can compare. And just to be clear, I'm asking if I can purchase the foam samples, not begging for free shit lol.
As far as super glue, ill assume the problem was using cheap crap like the cheep stuff you find at the hardware store and even the garbage from dollar stores lol. Ill definitely try to get some of that Bob Smith stuff and see how much better it is. So thanks for that too! Have a good one!
