After looking back at the movie, i can confirm that the tip of 72's tail is fully black
Yeah the tail paint is accurate by the time of Godzilla vs Gigan. I hope Bandai can keep up this level of quality from now on!
They wont :)
@@holycow2013 their Gxk figures are actually really good with retooling so your wrong
@@ParrotsAccountthose figures are terrible lol, only good from customs imo.
@@Jvoqever seen their evolved godzilla figure? it’s literally from the 3d data they got from the movie
@@ii_ooze dawg the comment was before evolved was teased.
Idk about anyone else, but the suit design, the red gums, the froggy eyes, the silver dorsal plates, and the black and green paint fade really screams Imperial Godzilla. And I am here for it.
Fr
The silver stopping in the middle of the tail is accurate to the suit. It’s pretty visible in the wideshots in the movies it’s featured in.
Wow I’m suprised that sh would pay so much attention to the movie where such a small detail that nobody noticed would be included
I personally think Showa Goji is the most iconic and CLASSIC godzilla ever! Hes also my favorite, and he had made the most iconic move, the flying dropkick, the dance, and so much iconic fight scenes. Gotta love showa!
I just pre-ordered my Godzilla 1972 S.H MonsterArts on BBTS a few hours ago, I cannot wait to get this guy in April! He’s AMAZING!
DAAAAAMN, APRIL?!?!, Meh I’ve waited longer for a different figure, the neca burning Godzilla is worth it, it looks great
@@TheClayMann1I waited 18 days for my neca Godzilla 1964
@@Goji66 I’ve waited more, it will be worth it, Amazon sucks though and it will prob be much last figure
tbh i am so happy bandai made this figure. in my mind THIS GUY is showa godzilla, (this suit was seen from destroy all monsters to godzilla vs gigan), this is the godzilla that beat up ghidorah with rodan, gorosaurus, and others, this is the godzilla that fought his son’s bully, this is the godzilla that was able to FLY, and this is the godzilla that teamed up with anguirus to fight ghidorah and gigan. of any godzilla suit, this was used the most and did the most. tldr; i love this godzilla and will prolly buy him.
This is my favorite suit and it’s so great to get a SHMA iteration of it, especially the ‘72 specific look. I totally agree with you about the head sculpt feeling like a ‘67 and ‘68 hybrid. I think it is due to the indents/slope where the brows connect to the cheeks being much too severe, giving him that Son Of Godzilla look when viewed head-on. The ‘68-‘72 suit’s head had a much rounder look to it.
The suit’s posture was angled more than the more upright look of the ‘73-‘75 suit, but there’s definitely times where Nakajima’s posture is more upright, especially in this movie. So it’s too bad you can’t get the figure to mimic that stance.
I also think he looks much closer to the ‘71 style of the suit, as the eyes in ‘72 were altered and the eyelids were brought down to give him a meaner look. That meaner look is what I always think of when I think of this version of the suit, so it’s a shame that quite noticeable difference was ignored. To be fair though, the eyelid height does seem to vary a bit throughout the movie. I would have also liked the overall sculpt to have captured that overused and well-worn look of the suit more. He’s also a bit too skinny in the belly area if you ask me, but that’s alright.
All that said, this figure is a blessing for me and is my favorite in my Goji collection thus far. Been waiting for this since ‘94 Goji was announced all those years ago. More Showa representation please, SHMA!
PS: there is some articulation in the tongue! You can raise the height of it, but it’s prone to popping off.
My favourite Godzilla Design/Suit, hopefully gonna be my first ever Godzilla Figure. Also have a real soft spot for the movie considering many fans don't like it all that much. First had this pre-ordered through an eBay Seller, now cancelled. But now I ordered it through a bigger online Figure Shop. Hopefully works this time. This Godzilla pretty much expresses everything I love about the Shōwa Era so much, it's kinda pretty cute, but at the same time looks iconic, not as tall as others and in my opinion has a very deep characteristic touch to its face compared to others. Hopefully in my hands pretty soon.
Whilst I wouldn't call this my favourite suit from the Showa era, when I think of the Showa era this suit is the one that comes to mind especially in Destroy All Monsters and the visual of him with all the other kaiju, that embodies that era to me. It's a perfect generic Godzilla look for that era.
I do wish the mouth could close fully, that's how I usually picture this suit but everything else about it looks so good that it doesn't hugely bother me. It's still over a month until it gets its UK release but I'm fine with waiting, definitely helps the budget.
Showa Godzilla is my favorite design because of nostalgia. All his shows incarnations are hilarious. From cookie monster Kaiju, to heavy weight boxing champion, to that legendary tail drop kick; I love this era of Godzilla (also I think the 1954 Godzilla counts as showa? Feel free to correct me because I'm probably wrong).
Anyways rant over. I love this Godzilla and will def buy the figure and the others in the line once I find a buyer for my kidneys on the black market
The dorsal ridges running down the tail weren’t painted from the mid point down with this suit. If memory serves correctly, they had the paint fade at the last plate that was painted in the tail and the remainder were left unpainted.
The Son of Godzilla suit eyes was lifelike too, I suppose a lot of kids in Japan and even here in America. A lot of American fans even said the Son of Godzilla eyes are what catches the fans eyes and made the MusukoGoji or Godzilla 1967 or Son of Godzilla looks more Father like and can connect to that Godzilla because of his Eyes, Big, looking right at You type of eyes! And in the water scene in Godzilla vs Gigan that Godzilla suit was the MusukoGoji suit. So I believe Toho decided to use that MusukoGoji suit one last time Because that suit connects with kids so much that Toho or the eye painter back in 1972 decided "Yeh let's make the main SoshingekiGoji suit have the same eyes as the MusukoGoji 1967 suit eyes." So I believe that's why the 1972 Godzilla suit eyes look so similar to the MusukoGoji suit eyes. Also the MusukoGoji suit eyes look tired and exhausted and guess what so does the 1972 SoshingekiGoji suit eyes.
I think the issue with this figure is it looks like a hybrid with the water suit in v Gigan and the land suit, which as you pointed out, is 67 for the water.
Question, for the Dish soap method of loosening joints do you only to apply once to get the joint to move or is it every time you need to move it? Also now they have no excuse to not nail 74 Godzilla.
The only time where the goofy looking eyes make sense on a SHMA figure.
I might have to put on my tinfoil hat here, but I can’t help but notice that there are some remarkable similarities between this Godzilla 72 sculpt, and the figure that Bandai America released back in the late 2000’s. This applies to both the liberties that were taken with not only the sculpt but also the very generous size that was given to this SHMA release. So part of me wonders if this is a slightly recycled mold but remade and updated as a super articulated version
This is one of my top 3 Godzilla SHMAs. My only complaint is size....this dude is huge. Too big for Hedorah and if you have him in chronological order, he dwarfs over '64, NECA '84, and even '62. I really think its just the proportions, especially his massive head. Ive heard a lot of people talk about the unpainted tail, but looking at stills from '72, I think thats accurate. Still, awesome figure and it really makes me wish Bandi would remake '64 to scale with the other figures. That original plan they had with each era of Godzilla was so stupid.
hoping this is the return of the amazing era sh monsterarts
Probably not
Hopefully SHMA keeps up this quality! They’re loosing customers to Hiya (rightfully so) and hopefully they take the hint to stop being to lazy!!!
You my sir have just earned a new subscriber! And I am going to get this figure!
Just waiting for a 1973 announcement at some point. If it’s anything like this figure I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.
Love your reviews! Can’t wait for this figure.
love your videos especially Godzilla toy reviews since it’s my fav kind of figure I would buy
Amazing figure, needs more accessories though. The right arm is sculpted differently from the left one for some reason, and when you bend the elbow his arm explodes, this isn’t just mine, almost every copy is like this.
Yes, I showed the range here and disassembled it. The sculpt is indeed different and it isn't an assembly issue, sadly. Aside from that 👌
Love the review, definitely getting this!
I found a few very blurry stills that looked like the dorsal paint ends about at that point but im still not 100% lol
9:45 Since you mentioned disassembling the both of figure’s arms, how did you dissemble the right arm at the lower elbow? With heat? I’ve been trying to do that but it doesn’t want to come off and I’m afraid of breaking it. Mine is so tight it basically doesn’t want to move. Might try shock oil but idk how I’ll get it into such a tight space without removing the joint.
Yeah heat is best practice. I was comfortable with my own hands.
I need help my 1972 godzilla figure came with a popped off figure i tried popping back in but it wont click in place what do i use to fix this?
What part? If it’s a ball joint try heating it up a bit.
Watching the movie I don't think we ever see his plates charge up, I am buying an extra to get a spitfire version and I have no visual references
Is there any way to disassemble the jaw? Mine is too loose, he has pacman jaw.
Serious question. Where and when do S.H monsterarts (especially Godzilla) ever go up for a sale price?
Stevens gonna kill me but
1. Haha i only watched 66% of the video before i commented
2. Convinced me to order him, thank you
I am going to buy this figure
Manga Word bubbles would have Ben a nice extra
This came in today for me and I love it!
Whooo a new Showa g now time for 500000000 repaints and a 73 goji
I think he looks great..🎉
It was a nice review, but in the scaling department, I was hoping you would have scaled it with your Diversity of Life Preying Mantis since that would have been the Kamacuras stand in of sorts. 😢
That could be arranged in the future~
Steven where is the new Transparent Blueraspberry review please 🙏🙏🙏
Love this figure
This looks cool, but I’m waiting for my 1973 Goji figure to be created.
I didn’t know you already made the review 😂
Great review. Ever considered making a effect part collection video?
I just bought this figure, but unfortunately the tongue fell out of the battle-damaged head. Is there a way to fix it without damaging the figure further?
You can use hot water or a blow dryer that’s the only way I can see u not really hurting the figure
Same thing happened with me. Only problem is that I lost the tongue
Good golly miss molly youre back and you came back swinging!!!
So... Showa Godzilla's neck's really wide
Edit : nvm most godzilla's necks are kinda wide lol
What is the ghidorah figure?
And it wasn't painted on the tip of the tail because it is accurate
yay
I don’t quite understand how it’s okay for a $100 figure to fall apart while you’re handling it. The sculpt is great but it seems like all those loose ball joints will become even looser over time.
There's nothing really loose though, just the hand on the wrist which I don't think is seated in there right.
I saw this figure originally for like ten dollars I thought it was fake though so I didn’t get it I regret that big time
Bruh 10 bucks? Of course it’s a scam 💀💀
Clicked this video the first second It released.
I got this figure like a week ago and the jaw can fully shut
Like-
What happened to Steven’s?
It cannot. Only if it's modified. The teeth will always show, this is on all units.
How are y’all getting this thing this early!?
I order mine from Kurama, crazy high shipping tho
I might get one soon this figure looks amazing!
I feel like hiya could do the same thing for half the price
What is that showa Ghidorah? Is it that one sh monster arts bootleg?
yeah
50% of the articulatetion is from the tail
Shma with good teeth? O
😭📈
2:33 bro it is literally not how you pronounce that
It is. Sorry 🤷♂️
