Hilariously, they’ve just announced that the £1 promotional fare is being extended to August, so if anyone reading wants to visit, there’s still time! Anyway, great you’ve finally done that line! ~ Daniel
Of course, the day I finish editing! Agh
meanwhile, me who rushed it and went on day 4 of the promotion (and i cant go again)
You planning on visiting every station across the UK?
😂 I was so amused about 'bye road' when Jen and I were filming I got her to do the outro there. Good minds think alike
Can't believe she beat me to it!
2:59 - The level crossing lights (or ‘wig-wags’ as they’re officially called) at Marston currently use the halogen lamps - not a sight you’d usually see nowadays on non-heritage lines.
Rather bizarrely, only 3 of the 12 public highway level crossings on the Marston Vale use LED wig-wags (those ones being Aspley Guise, Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick).
Probably they haven't gotten around to replacing them yet!
I’ve just had an idea for
Point to point Ridgemond (Marston Vale) to Richmond (Overground)
Stratford to Stratford upon Avon via Fenny Stratford?
"Bye Road" ... Genius! 😂
I did this recently but had a different route to you. This was my route if you're interested:
Start at Bedford
Train to Bedford St John's
Walk to Kempston Hardwick (I was regretting my decision part way through)
Train to Stewartby
Train to Woburn Sands
Train to Ridgmont
Train to Bletchley
Walk to Fenny Stratford
Train to Aspley Guise
Train to Bow Brickhill
Train to Lidlington
Train back to Bedford
Nice vlog Nick. I finished doing the Marston Vale Line just under 2 weeks ago and I did do walks between some of the stations to save time but I chose ones specifically with public footpaths and not main roads. Ridgmont is definitely my favourite station on the line!
Oh Nick how you have to suffer for your "job", having to wait in the fresh air for 30 mins for the next train hehe. Great video as usual good content and information.
As I commented when Jen did this trip, it's going to take something to upgrade that line when it becomes a part of the Varsity line again.
Brilliant video Nick, good to see the 2nd attempt was successful. I find it hilarious that there's a road called bye road lol.
Yay you did it! I can confirm that those level crossings use halogen lights; not many left at all now!
At Bow Brickhill, on the red plate, their seems to be a ghostly figure wearing a helmet
Hey Nick, you should do Worcester Fourgate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill in another way. Ik these stations are connected with a line but you should do it. Here is the route
You get a West Midlands down to Hereford then a TFW train to Newport. Then you get a GWR to Bristol Temple Meads and finally get another GWR back up to Worcester Shrub Hill
Good to see you finally visited the remaining stations of the Marston Vale Line.
I remember doing Lidlington a few years ago, but I walked over to Flitwick on the MML. There’s a very wiggly path which passes close to a vehicle proving ground.
Millbrook, home of the car proving ground/test track that fails to convincingly be Montenegro in Casino Royale (for the also car nerds on here).
4.05 Peugeot 306 d tub love it
There's a footpath from Lidlington to Millbrook Station off-road that's much safer
Great video Nick. They have extended the £1 sale now on the Marston Vale line.
I have no idea why I subscribe to your channel and watch your videos. But I just enjoy them. You should get a job on the telly Nick?
Thanks Nick for another great series, if you had gone to the line earlier in the year you would most likely have been ankle deep in muddy puddles walking the unpaved section. BTW the hair looed good😄
2:58 NRS halogens, getting extremely rare now :)
Lol it was great meeting you on that day on the train going back to Bedford! About an hour after u left the gates failed and were stuck down for 30+ mins at Millbrook Amusingly I was stuck there for a bit as it threw the service out due to drivers having to contact the signaler for clearance to go through the crossing while the Network Rail engineers had to manually operate the gates. Shout outs to the team who came out btw they were really nice an were happy to chat while they figured out what was wrong and repaired the gates.
Ohhhh dear! Looks like I got out just in time!
Nice to meet you too!
At 65p a pop, no great pain to do that second run to fill the gaps - well done on finishing the job! \m/
Really well done on completing the line, LNWR should be congratulated for their marketing of the route, it's really rather impressive - and you did it without reprising your amazing David Tennant impression (the highlight of the first video).
After the failure, you were finally able to tick off the remaining lines, and did it before the original £1 scheme ends, but as someone pointed out, been extended.
Thanks for your content.
Many thanks :)
Nerd here! Those lights are halogens, I think
WAIT A MINUTE!
I believe, You not recorded any "in train" footage and try to trick us with kina a "green screen sorcery" from inside of Norhern 15x ;)
Halogen I think for the bulbs
The Class 230 used to operate on the Marston Vale Line before they were stopped because of Vivarail went into administration and didn’t survive. Such a shame that London Northwestern Railway didn’t keep the Class 230s but the Class 150s are very nice that some were being cascaded from Northern.
Probably would have been a better deal to skip getting the 230s and stick with 150s in the first place
Bow Brickhill used to be a small village station but Milton Keynes has gradually encroached
Pointless journey idea: Southend Victoria to Southend Central. Less than 500m apart but takes over 2 hrs by train to get from one to the other
Crazy.
awesome
That level crossing uses halogen lights at 3:10
Nice
I was watching your first one until I got a notification saying that you're uploaded a new one
could you pls do scotrail express next
I thought you had to bring a guitar and an improv artist to visit Aspley Guise?
You missed a brilliant opportunity to rickroll us at Aspley Guise, just sayin
Hi nick
do you miss the 319s?
Visit Paris leave a love lock
Visit Bedfordshire leave a love teabag
Not again!
yooo
bow brickhill is redbull f1 hq
Oh yeah! We saw that in Jens video ☺
Be aware of messages from a C Horner.
yes very short walk from the station, a but longer walk is the parish church in Bow Brickhill but thats worth it
