What do you think about the new PYXIS 6k? Is it worth buying for $3k or is it a miss? 👇
Agreed. The L-mount is the most flexible option. It's the version I preordered. They also didn't build in NDs because it would have added cost, changed the weight, and added to the time to market timeline. Blackmagic has already said the display on the side is a setup and menu screen. The little 4" screen is not meant for monitoring. Also... ProRes is not an issue. You can export ProRes from Fusion Studio with the Saver node. Your Blackmagic Studio license works with Fusion Studio for free.
yeah, L-mount def makes the most sense for cross compatibility!
And yes, it seems like they tried to keep the cost down the most, then size and time to market.
I don't like converting footage to another codec if i don't have to though. i'm hoping they add prores support!
I preordered mine! Really looking forward to it. However, no official release date for the month announced yet…
Waiting to see footage you produce with it

I'm waiting for the launch of the Pixies 6k Pro, with a nice flippy screen, variable ND filter, and 10G Ethernet, to support BlackMagic's own new 2110 IP protocol.
Agreed
It won’t be called a Pyxis. The camera big enough for all that will be the next generation Ursa.
Even if the menu/setup screen was articulated it wouldn't be useful for pulling focus and monitoring. Even URSA users only use the articulated screen for setup and menu. Everyone will be using an external 6" or 7" screen for monitoring with the Pyxis. Internal NDs are way overhyped. You have more creative freedom with screw-on, matte box, and lens blade ND filter options. I will be using the NiSi Athena Primes with drop-in ND lens blades for my Pyxis.
@@andynonimuss6298 You're right, it's certainly no bad cam, but I just don't get it why users will have to carry a second screen when there's already one there on the cam. You're right about the ND, sure you're more flexible with external solutions.
@@shareyourfare I don't see why anyone would want to monitor and pull focus on a little 4" screen that's locked in place. I would much rather use my BM 7" Video Assist where I can focus easier and see everything better. I can also swivel it and tilt it to where I need it.
I have one on preorder. It will make for a better light shoulder rig than the CC and it’s a lot of camera for the money. At the same time, the ISO 3200 on this sensor is a noisy mess and I’m still thinking about what comes next for my kit. The triple native ISO of the C400 is interesting (but only one CFExpress slot!). Though maybe Sony will have a cine update out soon, or maybe BM will surprise us with a killer Ursa rework. We will see.
Guys anybody know why black magic cameras dose not support LOC ?
