  • In this video we diagnose a P0205 fault and confirm a faulty PCM. We use our Picoscope for injector control confirmation and our Cardaq 3 to program the new PCM.
    Both the picoscope and cardaq 3 are available in Australia from Mount Auto Equipment www.autoequipment.com.au/

    great vid, but you should go through the whole reprogramming process and what's required. that's exactly the kind of info that is hard to come by and tricky to learn without good guidance.

      In my part of the world, V8 & V6 are very rare (sadly), but I get to do KEI car's a lot (which are just cart's on steroids), mostly Daihatsu's & Hondu's (like Eric O says), especially the TCM coding goes bad on them quite often, usually I'm flashing 4 TCM's a month😉

    Nice video. One question, doesn't the autel let you link ecm, bcm and pim? I noticed you had to change scantools.

    • @romanosautomotive
      @romanosautomotive  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Rob! I linked the BCM with the Autel because it gave me the BCM 6 digit code but it wouldn't give me the 4 digit immobiliser code. Then I tried the Snapon to see if it would give me the code and it didn't. I ended up getting the code from the dealer and linked the PIM on the Snapon because I already had it connected.

    Hi rob. I’ve got a VZ with 335k on the clock. I’ve repaired the ECU/PCM (it was misfiring). My ECU/PCM repairer said I had under-load for all injectors and a hard fault for injector 5 which he has fixed. I’ve never replaced the injectors (in 15 yrs of ownership) and they seem to be fine. I note you mentioned you replaced the injectors also. If I don’t replace the injectors, is there a risk that it could damage my repaired ECU/PCM? I’m just trying to work out the merits of replacing injectors also.
    How long do injectors normally last?
    Please note I’ve also had a check powertrain dash warning for a few years and could never figure out the cause, car was running okay during this time.

    • @romanosautomotive
      @romanosautomotive  Před 2 lety

      Hi Shazib, the biggest killer of drivers in modules is the load that it's supplying drawing too much current. Not to say that it has caused the failure of your PCM but hard to say unless the repairer has tested the current draw of the injectors. It's more preventative maintenance considering they are a relatively small cost compared to the cost of a PCM. In regards to how long injectors last, that's not something I can really say. It's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. Hopefully that helps.

      Hi Maria, if you're in the US, I got them from aeswave. If you're in Australia like me, you can still buy them but they are a little bit more expensive due to the shipping. They are the best piercing probes I've ever used, just in case that helps you decide if they are worth it.
