    Thanks for sharing, Sasha. I have been a follower of your channel almost since the beginning, and it is an honor that you are talking about my script.
    I enjoyed your comment about our video 😁. Our channel features two friends chatting, which is why our videos are very, very long - we just chat and have a good time.
    We will have more news and scripts soon. Thanks again.

      what does the script actually do? especially with the "4" OIII channels (GB) present in the two pictures?

    Hello, Sasha. I’m Teo, the second half of Astrocitas. You have no idea how thrilled Raúl was to see you highlight the launch of this Script. A million thanks for this video.
    We found your comment about not understanding how we could talk for 45 minutes about such a small script very amusing. The truth is, when we decided to start the channel a year and a half ago, we had two main ideas in mind:
    1- It had to feel like a chat between friends. Our philosophy is that we’re having a beer on a terrace while talking about these things that interest us.
    2- We wanted to delve into the technical aspects. We’re not content with just repeating what’s being said; we aim to understand the scientific reasons behind it.
    That’s why our videos are long. First, because as you mentioned, we’re chatting and having fun while talking about something we’re passionate about. And second, because we provide lengthy explanations of why things are the way they are.
    For example, in this video, Raúl explains in detail how the different emission bands of the filters capture signals that are part of a different emission. This explains the mathematical formulas that need to be developed for precise extraction of each band.
    So, between the chat and the explanations, our videos end up being long… We even have videos up to two hours long where we talk with various colleagues about different topics. We love it, what can I say… Haha. Interestingly, in the Spanish-speaking astrophotography community, they are very well received, probably because of that feeling of chatting among friends that we enjoy so much.
    Anyway, after this unsolicited explanation, I just want to thank you once again for your support. And for bringing such a big smile to Raúl’s face. Thanks to you, we’ll see him in a happy mood for a while 😉

      Hi Teo, I'm happy that you and Raul liked my video!
      It is kind of great how many different styles we have on CZcams and so the same topic is covered in many different ways and there is one for each viewer type. And as you state, there is also a huge cultural aspect.
      Much luck for your channel and keep having fun!!!!!

    Hi Sasch, first of all - your Spanish is great - but seriously - I am fluent - if you ever would like/need some translation into/from Spanish - let me know - there is also the AWS translation and transcription service - but my service if free to you 🙂
    So, at first I was very excited about the DBXtract script, I have the Optonlong L-nHance, L-uLtimate, and the pricey Radian Triad Quadband filter. I have used Lukomatico tutoridal, which is quite involved but works - so having something a bit more systematic and methodical, the way you always do it - would be very welcome.
    So here is the thing... while you covered the basics of using the script, it left me with the devil-is-in-the details, meaning (a) what ratios or further tweaking to I combine them, (b) do I create a synthetic luminance, (c) do I do it pre or post stretching, (d) do you just use ChannelCombination, LRBGCombination or PixelMath to mix - what post mixing processing do you recommend... I have been added for over 2 hrs trying to mix and match combination, ratios and not getting near as good as with Lukomatico's approach.
    I am hoping you do a follow-up part two - to see how it all plays out end-to-end - you know: the Sascha Way :-) Danke.

    I have several dual band filters for Ha & OIII. IDAS NBZ, Optolong L-enhance and L-extreme. Would one of these work in place of the C1, thus enabling me to get away with just purchasing the C2? If so, which one would you recommend? Thank you for the excellent video.

  • @MrGeert1972
    @MrGeert1972 Před měsícem

    Would you be able to use this script if you only have the Optolong L-enhance? To extract Ha and OIII? And create a synthetic SII? From your Red and Blue channel?

    • @viewintospace
      @viewintospace  Před měsícem +1

      I guess you can do it to extract Ha and Oiii, and you can create an H-O-O pic afterwards. BUT: There is NO such thing as synthetic Sii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I don't care how many other CZcamsrs want to sell such a concept - you can NOT create something synthetically that you do not have! To explain: You can create synthetic Lum by combining your R, G and B pics - together it creates the full spectrum and hence is equal as if you would have shot without filter (regarding mono shooting). But with Sii - if you do not shoot with an Sii filter you can not know how the Sii emission looks like. This information is not in your Oiii and Ha data. So all you can do is create something fictional to make your pic look pretty, but that is a clown show and no synthetic Sii 😁. Hope that helped.

    A question - I have just acquired second filter so now have Antlia ALP-T and Altair Sii/Oiii 4nm filters. I am new to the idea of using more than one data set. I have watched the processing video you mention and note that star alignment needs to be taken care of. Should I be stacking data from both filters together in WBPP, or separately? How do I do the star alignment? Many thanks Sasha.

    • @viewintospace
      @viewintospace  Před měsícem

      You can do it somehow in WBPP, but I'm not a specialist as I stack in APP. But what I can tell you is that in PixInsight you can align multiple pictures with the process ImageRegistration -> StarAlignment.

    • @viewintospace
      @viewintospace  Před měsícem

      From my perspective it does not have to be better, but the same good, given it will remove the work to combine the 4 Oiii pics from you. And I would assume it is equally good....

    Is something wrong with the script now? A few days ago I had it installed and it was working fine. I have just now tried using it again after watching your video and I have found that the script has disappeared from my PixInsight and when I try and re-install the script nothing happens, it won't reinstall even after removing the script from repositories. It is very strange problem that I am having.
