- ABC's new series, "The Rookie," follows small-town guy John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.

How many seasons can you be a rookie though?
Basically This show continues with the Castle formula, which isn't a bad thing. Nathan Fillion is in best shape of his career since Castle season 3: OK Let's see the similiarities
1) Castle observation powers and snappy quips
2) Ability to distract villains with "Ruggedly Handsome" banter
3) Ability to bed attractive women in record time
4) female counterpart partner who is intelligent, ambitious, got your back even though she doesn't admit it
5) Empathy towards victims
6) Black Captain who is not a big fan...and looks to humilliate you
7) 2 sidekicks of ethnic background
8) Nice house....perfect for bedding attractive women (See #3)
9) Nathan Fillion as a divorced dude with a good job, playing cop and solving crimes that detectives can't

Nathan Fillion is one of my favorite human beings in the known universe.

That is one version of the story...I’ve never seen Nathan be mean in any way to anyone. We don’t know what the underlying situation was....maybe they just rubbed each other the wrong way? Can you imagine trying to act all doey eyed with someone you don’t really like for whatever reason every day? No other person has had a rude thing to say...they just didn’t get along and you are angry because the show was cancelled. We had many awesome seasons of Castle....lucky cuz we didn’t even get a full season of Firefly
His cast mates in Firefly love him (both male and female), Penny Johnson Jerald who played Capt. Gates, Molly Quinn who played Alexis, Susan Sullivan who played Martha all have good relationships with Nathan and so did the other male stars. His co-stars in Dr. Horrible also are good friends with him, Niel Patrick Harris and Felicia Day (who is a known feminist).
That said, I do believe he got beef with Stana, something happened that caused a rift, I don't believe it's as bad as the rumors My theory is that they hooked-up and broke up (this is just my theory and not fact). The rumors started when both of them stopped following each other on social media (but they seem to have followed each other again). To be fair though there's another version of the rumor where Stana was being a diva and Nathan put her in her place. We really can't be 100% sure what really happened or if something really did happen, the source stayed anonymous.

He was mean to Stana
It was a rumor, the source was anonymous without being confirmed. I do believe that something happened between the two though. My guess (and I reiterate the word "guess") is that they hooked up and it didn't end well. I remember it became a news item when they unfollowed each other on social media, they have since followed each other again. I remember reading somewhere Stana's rep saying there are no issues between the two.

As much I love The Rookie the concept has been done before with a show called Rookie Blue which was also about rookies who had just passed the academy and what their first year on the job was like

Interviewer tried pitting Nathan Fillion against the police but Nathan wouldn't go there. Nice to see that my favorite actor is also so respectful of law enforcement.

I hope he does play as Wonder Man in the MCU, I don't care if he's too old for the role! After hearing that his scenes were sadly cut from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, the guy is a really underrated and talented actor, and a nerd icon! How does the MCU not have a nerd icon as big as Nathan Fillion in the MCU?! If he gets recast I will be so pissed off...
Note to host Garcia: Stop hitting on Fillian. Even a female host wouldn't have come on as strong as you did. Felt sorry for Fillian but he handled your inappropriate remarks very well.
LOL He was sickening, he kept saying "you're looking good" and talking about how fit he was,I almost felt like looking away at times. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

I like the show, love Nathan, loved castle, was mad when it ended. Miss Kate, Ryan & Espasito, was kinda hoping, Stana Katic, plays his X wife, be cool. Hope 1 or all might make a appearance 😉
so happy he's on tv again, being a big fan of his, but i didn't rly enjoy castle. SO FINALLY i get to enjoy him on a weekly basis
I thought the pilot was nuanced and compelling. The secret romance was the only weak aspect, IMO. Some really excellent performances too.
The pilot was incredible!!! Had me at the edge of my seat(literally) Gave me a lot of different emotions too. The romance didn't bother me, but it wasn't necessary, or believable. Thought he could've used someone more his own age to hit it off with. She seemed to much like a kid for him to be with.
Melissa Kern I agree the age difference was off and it seemed to detract from Lucy's strength. Because until she had to look scared and upset for John, she was a straight-up badass. I hope for her sake she takes the advice she was given and ends things.

Watching the show with interest; one point LAPD uniforms are Dark Blue, not Black.
His weight has has made him look soooo much better!
Nathan in the best shape since Castle Season 3....after that, he started looking chubby and never chased down bad guys anymore....when he chased down a much younger crook in The Rookie....it was obvious that he knew he had to get in shape this time. He almost in Firefly shape now, but he's an older dude though.

probably won't last that long. In the first episode he had more things happen than would happen in the first year. That'll get tired really quick.
Rookie Blue starring Missy Peregrym lasted 6 years? She was still a circulation cop at the end, but got promoted to FBI agent on her new show called......wait for it.....FBI
Yes, in different departments. Undercover, detective, department lead; as long as they don't rush his growth. 2 seasons per area of interest will get past 5 seasons.

@@robin2007 Agree 100%. There’s nothing wrong with being middle aged and being middle aged weight. Society still wants middle aged actors trying to look like actors in their early 20’s and this is so wrong imo
