One of my favorite things about the whole trip was that Olivia said she learned more on that trip than she felt she would have learned in traditional school. So excited for all of the adventure and opportunity you’re about to experience, not just with the future RV journey but the home building as well. 💛
I’ll be honest. I was home schooled and I’m wary when anyone says they’re going to home school their kids. It’s not easy. Unfortunately, what is easy is for the kids to miss out and be left ill-prepared for the real world. I’m 22 and still feel barely able to function, it’s like I’m constantly playing catch up with everyone else. The structure of a school day conditions kids for a work week. It may be sad, but that’s what it is. So the absence of that can make it very hard to adjust.
Love this channel and wish you guys the best but if you ever feel for a second it was a mistake, don’t be afraid to admit that.
I so admire this. It resonates with me how Joel spoke about promptings and opportunities that may never come again. The way you spoke about praying together as a family more earnestly, that’s where’s it’s at. We can’t always control things but we can instill the best things into our lives and those are the things I think that sticks with our kids. I will more than likely never have the opportunity to travel like that but I’ll for sure go along on these vlogs when you do. It’s amazing to see what you capture and it’s more that just pretty places and interesting things along the way. It’s that feeling also and I so appreciate you guys more than I would ever be able to put into words.
"Amen", to everything you've said. As I mentioned before, I homeschooled for 15 years and have never regretted a minute of it (my adult kids say they don't either). I am not a credentialed teacher, but my husband and I had the desire to raise our kids with our Christian values and the Lord helped us do it. There's so many options for good curriculum. I'm excited for you.

Being present with your kids is never a bad thing. Hiding/shielding the reality of what’s happening with their peers is a tough thing. Balance is tricky. Good luck xx
Personally I’d rather expose children to the hard realities (as is appropriate) so they know how to empathize and help others that are not fortunate. Children that are sheltered become adults with unregulated emotions
@@Kranzinator28 some kids might be more sheltered as a result but not these kids in this family. They also do a lot of service work within their community with their children. Look at their Christmas vlogs from last year. I agree with you some might be too sheltered but definitely not this family. 😉
I think there’s a MASSIVE difference in keeping your kids safe, literally and figuratively from the garbage in this world and having them know and understand the realities of what’s going on around them. I wish so badly I would’ve had this kind of guidance from my parents at their age. I think Bonnie and Joel are giving them the most perfect balance!!

I'm all for what ever makes you all happy. Just know being in small places for a long time being cramped up will eventually get old. Especially if ur used to having space. I am so happy when yall are happy and it's amazing to see how excited you both are about your future plans. 💗

In a world that's stressing a culture of busy-ness and de-emphasizing family values, it says so much that you're choosing to step back from it all and focus on what really matters. I've seen a lot of families start homeschooling since COVID. If I had kids, I think I would be doing the same for some of the reasons you touched on. I love your day to day videos. I respect homeschooling the kiddos because school is very difficult for all children that are even slightly different. I sincerely hope you will continue to teach your kids important life lessons through your new adventures. This is incredible, a dream lifestyle but for all of the right reasons. Not often can you live a dream lifestyle with it having healthy impacts but this is it. A healthy balance, which will bring amazing memories. I am so happy for you all, and I am excited to watch you on your journey ❤️❤️
Good for you guys!! That's why we loved living on the East Coast. We were ALWAYS going everywhere with our kids! Now we live in Oklahoma, and we say all the time how much happier we were when we lived there. I'm getting ready to start a business in hopes to get out of some of our debt and perhaps be able to afford an RV and condo (someday soon), so we can do more things with our kids before they are grown and gone. We have 5 kids, and feel exactly how you feel about the directions the schools are going in and the things kids are seeing/doing these days. Monitoring these things and letting them be kids, they will someday thank you for that!! Keep being you! You guys are awesome!!
Btw, that is one of the reasons I enjoy watching your vlogs. The way you raise your kids is almost exactly how my husband and I are with ours. My 11 y.o. just got his first "phone" for Christmas. It's actually a watch we got from T-mobile. I absolutely love it because he can only call/text with people we've authorized him to. He's been very responsible with it, and plan on getting him a real phone, like you got Olivia, when he's a little older. We also don't allow the kids to watch YT without asking, and they are only allowed certain shows. Anytime they watch something new on Netflix they have to ask first so we can see if it's appropriate. There is so much crap hiding in shows that are supposedly for kids, you have to be proactive. Anyway, we do talk to them about other things, like guns, drinking, drugs, etc.. That way they hear it from us first. It's all in the way you treat them. Unfortunately, my parents were a little awkward about everything, so we've been completely opposite about everything with our kids! Ok, sorry for the long post! Just wanted you to know you guys are doing good! Love that you are taking a step back on your vlogs and just want to be in the moment! Keep up the good work!

It's an awesome thing! We went through something in 2019 that forced us into living in an RV full-time for a month. We loved it. We also got closer with our kids and had deeper conversations and prayers together. It was very spiritual.

As this new phase of my life is beginning as a single divorced Mom, you have no idea how much your vlogs have made me smile on the darkest of days. It’s really interesting seeing how other people’s lifestyle is in different areas in the world. Utah seems fun to visit, getting a look at it by watching your videos. Just the same as here in Alaska. I love going on trips to different places and then look forward to not as well returning home from whatever area your visiting. And some places I’ve visited really suprised me!
Bonnie and Joel…you two are some awesome parents. I am 28 and have no kids, I am completely career focused right now at this point in my life. My younger sister has a son and I am grateful I have my nephew and have enjoyed watching her change into the caring person and mother she is today. I admire you and Jole (like the spelling there? 😆) But really though, you guys have a phenomenal balance of fun and supportive parenting skills. I appreciate you and your family putting your lives out there for everyone to see, even though we don’t see every second of everyday- I have gathered so much knowledge and appreciation for how you and Joel manage to keep everything afloat while filming and editing everyday. The kids are so respectful, loving and caring and that’s from the examples and support that you two have displayed for them. I enjoy watching your family channel and watch you guys everyday. We homeschool to! We went on a trip in august/September this past fall and it was amazing! They did so well and we know we can travel with them, so that is our goal as well! Get our businesses going and get set up to go! So excited for you! Can’t wait to see!
Oh I love this video. You guys are amazing and my family of 5 did just what you all are wanting to do. We homeschooled for 13 years and dis the RV life for a while.... they are all grown now. (Bitter sweet) Enjoy it because it really is so wonderful being CLOSE to your babies. People said we were crazy! While I don’t really agree that kids are too young to learn certain things in school, I do think it’s amazing that you are able to travel with your kids and show them nature and to experience everything that comes with being on the road and visiting different cities and parks etc! Memories are what we have at the end of the day, and you and your kids will have so many from doing this!

I don’t think you should have to worry about what you post, I and most others will continue to follow your journey. Having your home built as a home base and homeschooling will be a great blessing for your family. Homeschooling on the road will be a good way of learning geography and will create many memories.

My kids come home from school and immediately go outside to play. We don't allow video games or youtube in our house. Our family gets outside, walks, rides bikes, gets dirty, etc. every evening together. We are taking advantage of our time with them. We connect spiritually and have deep conversations. I just want to encourage you that you can keep that connection you felt in the RV at your home, you just need to make changes & have boundaries.

I’ve been a viewer since 2016 and have been full time RVing for 10 months now. It is incredible!!! It’s just my husband and I and we’ve never been closer.

When my son was 9 we did a year on the road living in our RV. We did something called unschooling. By the end of the year we did 6 more years completely unschooling. My son is now in college (pre med) and is in the top 3% of his class at U of M. Unschooling is field trips, museums, exploring, investigating and then learning about it. Math was done in the grocery stores or outside. It is amazing - it would be worth checking it out. Your kids will LOVE it.
YES!!!! Fulltime RV family here and my advice is definitely DO IT!! it's amazing to simplify your life, and experience so many new things! I'm so excited for you and your kids!
I think it’s a good idea as long as you are intuitive to your childrens feelings. My parents pulled us out of school to travel and while it was fun for a while we really wanted to return to school and I remember it causing issues..
They only get one school experience, you have loads of time to travel once they grow up x

Just a heads up to look into the various styles of home education - unit studies, Montessori, Steiner, unschooling, natural learning, nature based, forest schooling, Charlotte Mason, travelschooling, carschooling, world schooling, eclectic - there are so many styles = most of us end up eclectic = taking the bits, and pieces from each style that work best for our kids, and family.
The beauty of home education is that you can create a completely individualized curriculum for your kids.
I have 5 kids aged 9 to 26 years old I've home educated - my favorite time was 2 years traveling in a tent - just my oldest and I.

Wow, it’s been months since I last checked in on y’all but OMG this is SO RELATABLE! We already homeschooled our kids and hubby can travel for work so we sold the house 4 yrs ago, bought the RV and have been traveling ever since. We are coming to the end of our traveling days though since our oldest is working now and guess where we ended up at?! Yes, Salt Lake City UT 🙏🏼. This state has stollen my heart. It’s the only state I left (this is our 2nd time here) that I bawled leaving. We returned a yr later and have been here for the past 1.5 yrs. You guys will cherish these moments for the rest of your lives. Can’t wait to see this next chapter!
