    Hi doctor,
    Thanks for your useful information. I have a question about my condition. I have teeth irregularities which I think have been a major factor leading to my TMJ, but unfortunately there is no dentist in my country with specialty in TMJ to confirm this. So what's the best I can do? Go ahead and get orthodontia hoping it helps with my TMJ and, keep doing physical exercises or avoid fixing my teeth irregularities until I find someone who knows about TMJ?

      @@theTMJdoc hey! Thanks you are a great doctor! I have learned so much. I’m 29 and been dealing this for 2 years the whole time I was pregnant in 2020 with my 3rd baby. What do you think about local anesthetics for a temporary added relief. I am in PT and have gotten Botox. I have been almost miserable as I have 3 children and a husband and this has affected my whole life. I have a pain management appointment Friday and probably Atlanta ga is my closest tmj doc. I live in mountains about 2 hours from atl and we are so rural that we don’t have a good tmj specialist. I am hoping to get local anesthetics Friday am to keep relieving me from all of the symptoms you mentioned. I am self diagnosed and have done all the work myself with making the doctor refer me wherever I need to go. Some doctors are so poor at what they do and it’s frustrating. Thank you so much for your effort here sharing knowledge and giving people an understanding. You are so beautiful by the way. Thanks!

    Thanks for covering this Priya, I've done neuromuscular dentistry and it has helped tremendously with the orthodic but unfortunately I need a permanent solution which requires crowns and it's sooo expensive. It comes to a cost equivalent of a car/suv - with no guarantees it will reduce my symptoms enough to justify the cost. I AM considering it because while I wear the orthodic I get relief so I would love to have that permanent alignment but it's a HUGE financial investment with little to no insurance coverage. Super disappointing that the majority of insurance companies turn a blind eye to TMJ and deem it cosmetic and experimental. Anyway, thank you for all you do and these videos. I highly recommend neuromuscular dentistry, it has helped me and I was blessed with a very methodical and caring TMJ Dentist who had been doing this for decades.

      Mark, I’m looking at the same situation long term. They’re basically going to have to rebuild every crown on my lower palate. Major $$$. Insurance will only pay for jaw surgery, and that’s not going to solve my problem. It’s insane that insurance only considers this stuff "cosmetic." I don’t care at this point. If it solves my issues I’ll do it. Wonder if we’re seeing the same dentist…

      @Mark-ql5ni Před rokem +1

      @@jenniferhankinson1910 If your orthodic from the nueromuscular dentist helps you get a good amount of relief - the next phase is to have the jaw in that position permanently. The cost is def ridiculous, I could buy a new car instead. It's likely if the jaw is in that optimal position all the time (crowns) it would help much more than just temporarily wearing the orthodic. I don't blame the dentists, 99% of the dentists I've met are super caring and they're always small businesses, it's these big insurance companies that have lawyers on staff that know how to word policies to not cover these high costs procedures and classify them with no research or objectivity to back up these decisions. Big business is not our friends, they're looking out for shareholders and profit statements. Bottom line. I believe things will get better, I hope you can find a solution that means not living in chronic pain. If you have to take out a loan it could be worth it depending on your symptoms. I would get a long term loan then always pay more than minimum - then if something happens you have flexibility you can then pay the minimum and go back to paying more than minimum when you're able to.

Now, I still clench at night ON the orthotic, which is more painful than clenching on my teeth. Do NMD practitioners make occlusal guards that keep the majority of teeth (especially the larger molars) from clenching at night, while still achieving NMD (muscle-calming) results?
