I lived in Mesa for 23 years. I went to a lot of those places, but not all of them are in Mesa. Canyon Lake is about 30 miles from Mesa, but a great place to visit. I remember going there in the 1980's when there was no one there but me and the group I was with. That sure has changed.

Lots of errors in this article. Usery park is not in Mesa, it borders Mesa. Topo is not in Mesa, it’s in Gilbert. There’s not a lot to do in Mesa,it mostly a bedroom community and retirement area for mobile home park types. Downtown Mesa has a few restaurants and one nice museum. The Blue Adobe restaurant is probably the best in town. Cubs spring training is there in March. For a city of a half a million folks, it’s pretty boring.

Also, the lake is not in Mesa, it’s in the Tonto National Forest and Apache Trail is in Apache Junction, not Mesa.
