Holy cannelloni, this is amazing! Such an impressive instrument and player. Really liked her song.
But can't help but wonder...70-something strings - that'll take a while to tune. And it has levers for changing the pitch and the bridge is mounted on fish skin? That's not helping with keeping in tune, isit? :D

It means law because the name is coming from the Greek word "κανόνας'' which has the meaning of law in ancient Greek also the Greek word expressing this instrument is ''κανονάκι" which has the exact same meaning.
The origin of this instrument must be from Israel, I am not 100% sure.
This kind of music system with sub-notes originates and was established in Byzantium in approx. 800 A.D.

Bayan Izzani guys yes the Arabs play it very well
But you find it in Greece since the antiquity until now
      Κάνων is a Greek word
is an ancient instrument that comes from Pythagoras time
and all the old ancient civilized people in east mediteranean used to play
      and everybody is happy

      Fady Al Qaisy
Sorry my friend but the word is κανων
      in Greek
and it is the κανων of Pythagoras
Do you know anything about Byzantine music ?
      We have the same scales
We call them ήχους which means sounds
      and you call them makamss
you are talking to a Greek the Greeks know the divisions in music is in our culture
      our religion and traditional music
      for thousands of years
This instrument has been found in Ancient Greek places
In Byzantine pictures you can see the same instruments that we use now
Pandouris is bouzouki you can find even in ancient statue in Peloponnesus
Psaltirion kanon you can see it in Byzantine but also is recorded by Pythagoras
Lagouto pictures also in Byzantine icons
The truth is that you arabs have ancient civilization
      and deep culture
You delivered and spread Greek knowledge
from Andalusia Spain a lot of Greek writes was delivered by you to the west
you used to be traders and we used to be too
back before centuries while the north west Europeans used to be with not any progress

Peace from Crete the place that Palestinian come from finikas
I don’t accept what you say
      about the word
the world used to be alexandrine
      for centuries
nobody could add something in Ancient Greek writes
in 1204 the westerns stole from konstantinoupoli
the major amount of Ancient Greek writes
and the rebirth of culture took place after in Europe
      based in Ancient Greek wisdom

  • @apmikalogran
    @apmikalogran Před 4 lety +1

The Greeks first made this and they still use it
    Ooohhhh
    Not them again
The Arabs play it also well
they are a lot of millions and the have very good players
    Makam for arabs
    Ήχος for Greeks
all the civilized ancient people in east mediteranean adopt it
    it easy to understand why
But even in the west hapened the same
is the ancestor of the piano
Piano can’t play the trimitons though
that you only find in Byzantine and Arabic music until today and canon can play
