Beating FNaF 2 10/20 with My New Strategy

- First of all, let me explain how it works and why it is probably better than just doing right vent camp. Basically, Foxy's usual killing opportunity is every 10 second interval, but he shouldn't be able to kill you either if you are in a blackout, or if you flashed him in the last 50 frames(Note that Foxy may still be able to kill you even if you follow this, but as you are consistent and fast with this, you should be fine). That's why in this strat I time the blackouts so Foxy doesn't kill me. Another thing, Your monitor can only be pulled down every 10 seconds, so if you follow my strat this shouldn't affect you.
Now the execution. First of all, you will need a stopwatch, so you know when Foxy can kill you. During the first ~17 seconds, you just want to wind the music box and flash the hallway constantly. After 18 seconds you want to start flashing the hallway until around 0:21.5 then immediately start winding the music box(ignore the vents as of now). Now, this is where the pattern starts, at 0:25 you want to lower the monitor and there will be most likely a blackout that we will use to avoid the next Foxy's killing opportunity. After the blackout you want to hold your mask a little bit longer, then check the right light and continue winding the music box if safe(basically right vent camp strat). Then, just simply repeat this putting down the monitor at 0:35, and repeat this pattern every 10 seconds.
Life isn't that simple... There are scenarios that will mess with this pattern, I'll tell you how to deal with most of them:
1-Toy Bonnie after blackout: If after the blackout you see Toy Bonnie in your vent, you just have to wait a few seconds while flashing the hall, and in the next X:X5 on your timer put your mask on and use Toy Bonnie's blackout to avoid Foxy's killing opportunity and keep following the pattern.
2-No blackout when putting the monitor down + Toy Bonnie is in the vent: This is simple, just flash the hall and use Toy Bonnie's blackout to avoid Foxy's killing opportunity
3-No blackout and Toy Bonnie is not in the vent: This is the most complicated scenario, this will require you to have experience with this strat. The best you can do is check both lights and try to get rid of the animatronics before the next time you need to wind the music box (Around X:X1.5) and continue the pattern normally. If you don't succeed, the best is probably to modify the pattern by adding a 3 second delay. For example, put down the monitor at X:X8 instead of X:X5 and you will barely catch Foxy's killing opportunity. If this same scenario happens while on this "modified" pattern, you can do the same mentioned above and switch back to the normal monitor down at X:X5 pattern. - Hry

It's ironic how the challenge is called 'Golden Freddy' mode because GF is practically no threat whatsoever, I think 'Toy Bonnie' mode would've been a more fitting name

This seems to be an awesome strategy. If i'm on my A game I can get to 5am consistently but toy bonnie is just a menace. He seems to be the main issue making 10/20 mode so hard.
facts. Toy Bonnie always messes me up because that animation he does lets Toy Chica have time to pop up then she takes a long time to go away. Then my monitor gets pulled down after like 1 second of winding the music box and Withered Chica is at my desk

Smooth sailing until Golden Freddy, which I did not expect to be this much of a hassle (tbh I don't even remember if I ever beat it back in the day). Toy Bonnie is the single most obnoxious character in this game. He can take up words of 10 seconds to deal with, he can appear in a vent during a blackout, and he can appear at the same time as mangle in the vent entrance.

Dude, with the exception of the little bits of RNG that's in this night, it's impressive just how much easier Golden Freddy Mode looks and feels with this strategy alone. Thanks for this! I'll be reattempting 10/20 with this strat ans hopefully I'll have better luck with it! :)

I'm pretty sure you didn't point this out but I found out that if you're using the mask to protect yourself from a left vent animatronic, either toy chica or bb, and the vent sound plays NOT during a 5 second interval (either X:X5 or X:X0) the animatronic will 100% be gone, due to how movement opportunities work.
After like 500 attempts of beating it I was finally able to beat this mode thanks to your strategy, your a real one brudda thanks 🙏🏽
En primer lugar, déjame explicarte cómo funciona y por qué es probablemente mejor que simplemente hacer un campamento de ventilación correcto. Básicamente, la oportunidad de matar habitual de Foxy es cada intervalo de 10 segundos, pero no debería poder matarte si estás en un apagón o si le mostraste en los últimos 50 cuadros (Ten en cuenta que Foxy aún puede matarte). incluso si sigues esto, pero como eres consistente y rápido con esto, deberías estar bien). Ahora la ejecución. En primer lugar, necesitarás un cronómetro, para que sepas cuándo Foxy puede matarte. Durante los primeros ~17 segundos, solo quieres darle cuerda a la caja de música y mostrar el pasillo constantemente. Después de 18 segundos, desea comenzar a iluminar el pasillo hasta alrededor de 0:21.5 y luego comenzar inmediatamente a enrollar la caja de música (ignore las rejillas de ventilación a partir de ahora). 3-No hay apagón y Toy Bonnie no está en el respiradero: Este es el escenario más complicado, requerirá que tengas experiencia con esta estrategia. Lo mejor que puedes hacer es comprobar ambas luces e intentar deshacerte de los animatrónicos antes de la próxima vez que necesites dar cuerda a la caja de música (Alrededor de X:X1.5) y continuar con el patrón normalmente. Si no tiene éxito, probablemente lo mejor sea modificar el patrón agregando un retraso de 3 segundos. Por ejemplo, baja el monitor a X:X8 en lugar de X:X5 y apenas aprovecharás la oportunidad de matar de Foxy. Si este mismo escenario ocurre mientras está en este patrón "modificado", puede hacer lo mismo mencionado anteriormente y volver al monitor normal en el patrón X:X5.

I beat it in a few hours thanks to this strategy, works great, sometimes foxy can kill you due to rng at the start (for me at least), or if you mess up the setup in the first 30 seconds, other than that, you can get pretty far easely every time, the rest is just practice

This is awesome. I was trying to beat golden freddy mode with right vent camp for like 3 hours and nothing came of it and when i saw this strategy and gave it a trie i beat it literally with my first attempt. I don't know if i got lucky or if this strategy is just so good.

Toy chica and ballon boy usually gone fast and their counter is that mask so if after closing cam and there arent any jumpscare we should check left vent

Heres what i do
Start timer at just barely before the run starts and flip down cam at X:X5.75
İf no animatronics in office but in the vents stall till X:X8.0, flash foxy and get the mask on, stall till X:20.5 and use cams till X:25.75
If toy bonnie in vent after a blackout stall him until X:X5.50, put the mask on and wait
If toy bonnie in the vent after no blackout just put your mask on
If no animatronics present stall them all until X:X2.0 and wind again
This doesn't sound quite optimal. Instead of starting the timer early, set it to start at 0.2 (assuming you're using livesplit as your timer) and then just start it as soon as you see the office load in. Starting at 0.2 will account for the time it takes you to react. Other than that never wind the music box for longer than 4 seconds. 3.5 is what you usually want to go for but if the music box is low you can go for something like 3.8 seconds. Also make sure you flash the light and open the cameras over a 1 second interval!! For example opening the cameras at x:x2.0 and winding til x:x5.5 or x:x5.8. As long as the flashlight was on the hall at some point past x:x2.0 you are GUARENTEED not to die to Foxy as long as you close the cameras before x:x6.0. Other than that...i think this mostly sounds pretty much right! You definitely have a really good understanding of the different situations that can pop up with this strat, take it from someone who's literally beaten this mode 70+ times lmfao. Most of describe exactly how I would play these situations. Oh but if you close the cams and there's no office or vent animatronics then flash the hall, get back in the cams, and wind until x:x9.0! Gives you a bit more time to work with whatever happens after that next 10 second interval. Also if Toy Bonnie is in the vent after a blackout you only have to stall until like x:x4.5 because he takes a half second to leave the vent anyway, and as long as he leaves past x:x5.0 you're fine. That said, the third star isn't locked behind 10/20 just to be clear, it's locked behind 20/20/20/20 which is the withereds set to 20. Just making sure you know that already :p

Thank you! Ill use that information to maybe change the way i play. I try to start the timer just before the game loads because i play on the nintendo switch so i need a diffrent device to tell the time (Usually my phone) and it has a startup thats like 0.3? seconds... I mostly got all of this from watching people talk about how fnaf intervals work and thats probably how i beat fnaf 1 night 7. I think the biggest problem here is the toy bonnie attack before or after a vent animatronic attack. At that point i have to resort to opening cams at 5.0 instead of 2.0, which makes the foxy intervals way more deadly

Thank you so much for this. I reached 6 min 30 sec with this strat, until Foxy got me right after a blackout. This works. I'll update when I finally finish this nightmare.
The only thing I'll add is after dealing with Bonnie, you have at most 2 cycles to ignore the right vent and recover from lost music box wounding.

@@jdogkorp8657 Yeah, it really is all practice and a bit of luck. I find that doing the first 9 can be helpful. You can also apply the method on 4/20 as a start.

@@sandraospina1313 mainly the way i deal with vent animatronics. as in if i put the cam down at x:x5 i would way a whole ass interval until x:x3. but i soon realised that was stupid so i went with the "put the mask on at x:x8 and offset". so basically the only thing i changed is that i wasted more time that needed to deal with vent anims

I follow the timer perfectly and I usually can get myself out of the situations where there ends up not being a blackout bc i’ve put many hrs into this but with this strategy, foxy manages to kill me way too often and idk why cuz it has not been 10 sec and i keep flashing the middle so i wanted to know what i could do to prevent this (also if i flash the middle but the flash light can’t flash bc of an animatronic would that reset the 10 sec kill window or not bc if not it makes way more sense)
Yeah it does work even if you can't see it flashing. I would recommend to hold the flashlight while lifting the camera up to wind the music box, that helps with foxy a bit

This strat got me nowhere for hours. I paused the game and came back to rewatch, turns out I was doing it wrong. Learned what I had to do right, went back to the game and beat G. Freddy mode first try. 😂😂😭😭💀💀

I beat 10/20 on the old mobile version of Fnaf 2 back in 2016 but the updated version feels way, way harder. I can’t even make it to 3am in this version and it’s actually depressing.
I need to start employing these strategies because omg I just get absolutely obliterated by vent animatronics every time they show up.
Update: Within 15 minutes of applying the extra 0.75s to lift up the mask strat I beat 10/20 again after getting my last victory over 4 years ago.

I love this game. But 10/20 is all about what iteration of the animatronics ur gonna get. I noticed u flashed the marionette music box. Does that slow it down?
If the music box wind all the way down, holding the flashlight will prevent marionette from moving, so it gives you some time to wind before she escapes

What is the best way to flash foxy? Just so you know, I am exiting the cameras at X:X5.5 and opening them at X:X1.5 and yes I know about the hold flashlight on camera trick, but it feels like no matter how i flash him he kills me right after a blackout. Help 🙏🙏 *PLEASE*
I've figured recently that it's the best to flash him at the start of a second, so like x.xx.1. This will give you the most amount of time to wind the music box w/o risking to die to Foxy

Struggling a lot with foxy. So much so I've had a scene where I'll jitter flash him clear as day and the second I take off the freddy head he kills me. Also a lot of the time I don't even get to with all the hallway movement i.e not being able to use the light.

Also, what is your Toy Bonnie strategy?
The timer he uses is livesplit and the toy bonnie strategy seperates in 3 different ways.
1. If there’s a guy in the right vent after a blackout: If this happens flash the hall a singular time at a 4 second interval such as 34, 44, 54 seconds, etc then keep the mask on until they leave, then when they are gone flash the hall once, check the right vent only, and wind the box again while shining the hall at the same time. But the only time you flash the hall a singular time at a 4 second interval is when you are using the new foxy strategy, which is where you can shine the light down the hall while also winding the box at the same time.
2. If there’s a guy in the right vent and there’s no blackout then flash the hall about 3 times then put the mask on until they leave. Then when they are gone, flash the hall once, check the right vent only, and wind the box again while shining the hall at the same time.
3. If there’s no blackout and nobody is in both vents: This is a strategy that I came up with so I have no idea if it works or not, but Immediately flip the monitor up then back down and put the mask on as fast as you can to purposely cause a blackout to happen, if a blackout still doesn’t happen, then flash the hall until a 6 second interval such as 31, 41, 51 seconds, etc like he does at 2:55 then if there’s nobody in the vents and it hits one of those intervals then you can continue winding the box as normal and keep doing the pattern. Great job on the run! Im trying to beat Golden freddy mode, but the flashlight doesn't always work in the hallway, which generally leads to foxy killing me. I started watching other people do it for analysis and watched a tutorial as well. Can you elaborate on what you do when the flashlight doesn't work? I understand why it happens, but I want to know what others do about it.
Also, if either freddy is in the hall, does that mean that foxy isn't in the hall, or do they just block him from our vision?

As for the flashlight not working thing, does that mean the flashlight isn't turning on or that Foxy isn't going away?
When the flashlight doesn't work, an aminitronic is moving in the hall.

I'm gonna base this off another comment someone had. Can you flash the prize corner camera and still "flash foxy" to help pause his kill phase? If so that would seem to make it alot easier especially with times where you get back to backs and not always have the most time to flash the hallway

Hey shooter, I was wondering does flashing the light while in the cameras to wind the box actually stall foxy?
I just didn’t check the vents whenever an animatronic was at my desk (any toys in the vents would leave during that time.) I’d flash foxy before winding the music box everytime if I could. I’d wind it halfway if I could everytime. Took me a day to beat jt
Does foxy attack at exactly every 10 second interval? What if I start my timer like half a second late?
So what is got from it you did the right vent camp and for the music box you did up to 7 beeps or whatever you call it and when the sign goes to red you did 8 am I right?

what do i do if a desk animatronic pulls me off of the monitor and messes up the cycle? itd be really good if you made a video explaining this strat and going in depth
He goes in a pattern where he makes it impossible for them to pull the monitor down because they pull the monitor down every 10 seconds, so he times it every 5 seconds such as winding the box for 5 seconds, then letting the blackout go for 5 more seconds.

some questions in regards to this strat
1) what if I don't do the timings properly, like using the mask at 5.2 seconds instead of 5.5, does it mean a high chance of a fail?
2) do I still have to flash the light often for Withered Foxy?
3) why do you flash the light as you're bringing up the camera and winding up the box?
4) a long one, but I just wonder if the strategy works like this. so, you spend the first 17 seconds playing normally, using the flashlight up to the 21st second, winding up the music box for 5.5 seconds then using the mask, waiting and flashing for 5 seconds if Toy Bonnie appears in the office right after an office animatronic leaves, dealing with the other vent animatronics normally if they don't appear with office animatronics or Toy Bonnie, waiting for the next 1.5 seconds if nothing appears when lowering the monitor and constantly checking the vents and the hallway and if Toy Bonnie appears while doing so, you wait for 5 seconds then use the mask. is all of these correct?

Whenever a blackout ends, you wait an extra 0.75 seconds before taking off the mask.
BB, Mangle, and Toy Chica are all guaranteed to leave the left vent after 5 consecutive seconds with the mask on, and since these three can appear in the vent at the same time a blackout starts, there’s no need to check it after waiting those extra 0.75 secs.
Toy Bonnie’s the only vent animatronic that isn’t affected by the mask during blackouts, so that’s why the right vent is the only one you check, after getting one.
For me the start doesnt work because the 10 second check jumps around from XX:7, XX:6 XX:3 or XX:0 and the animatronics pull down my monitor of foxy gets me

What do you do if you are unable to flash the hall for long periods of time? As in, when the light just doesn't do it bc there's something moving around?

hello! the description on this video is pretty inaccurate and outdated, so i'd recommend guzzykitsune's video to learn this strategy. keep in mind that he says to open the cameras at 1.5 seconds. do not do this. foxy has a chance to kill you unless you flash the hall past 2.0 so hold ctrl and start opening the cameras just before 2.0. i left a comment on that video with corrections but thats the only super important one
