Costello was never “killed.” How could a legitimate crime channel get this basic fact wrong?
Costello was shot and not killed by Chin Gigante
I know, that got my attention immediately. Didn't bother to go any further
The Chin shot him in the head he survived and went into retirement, so much for you never get out alive
@@josephsellaro7935hey I agree with you Frank Costello retired, no John Gotti Jr tries to retire and they give him a hard time,😮 preface retired also, Joel bonanno so you can bow out gracefully
@@mavjimbo - The video itself is top notch. It's from the excellent series "Mafias Greatest Hits" and has nothing to do with the person who uploaded it here. It's also a high quality (high resolution) video (up to 1.2 GB!)
Except he didn't kill Frank Costello. He tried and in a way he got what he wanted-Costello out of the picture.
your rigjht
exactly, misleading
You'd have thought they would have known that.
Correct. Frank Costello died in The Waldorf Astoria in 1973 of old age.
He did blow up his grave tho which is even worse in my eyes
Is this Caption just "cheap click bait?" Genovese did not succeed in killing Costello. Costello survived the hit attempt by Gigante ordered by Genovese and lived until 1974 after suffering a heart attack at 82 years old. Genovese died in prison [for drug trafficking] in 1969 at 71.
Exactly what it is😭
Cheap click bait with bad spelling.
Up until 56' _"Broadway Joe" Adonis_ who sat as Chairman of the National commission, was the _Luciano_ family Street Boss.
> Thus why all the Big Hits ( puppeted by _Carlo Gambino_ ) *didn't occur until 1957.* On the Last two remaining _Luciano_ loyalists; _Anastasia_ & _Costello_ (an Ivory tower guy); because _Joe Adonis_ was deported in late 1956! Due to terms of his plea agreement (Go Look it up).
That's why in 1957 A power vaccum opened, and _Gambino_ filled the void. Using _Vito Genovese; "Lucky's_ old driver & bodyguard. Who had the respect of the social club "knock around guys". Who was essentially A chump, that RFK (then Attorney General) also used- via the _Valachi_ psy-op. To pull the Mafia out of the Shadows. PUTTING NAMES ON-TOP OF LCN FAMILY MARQUEES (forward they became The Genovese family).
All of which, is also why _Genovese_ himslef, was later set-up & framed w/ heroin stamped 'Palermo'. The same City that both _Luciano_ & _Adonis_ were deported too. Its literally "coincidence" after coincidence etc.
He didn't kill Frank he almost killed him this title is misleading.
Title is completely misleading Costello died of old age. He attempted to kill him but the Chin missed.
You left out the real kicker...By Vito threatening Valachi he caused him to testify, giving-up the whole thing.
he didnt threaten him..he tongue kissed him or something like that and it scared the bejesus out of him
Yeah, its called the kiss of Death, and it meant he was going to kill Valachi...Thats a threat
Valachi was in prison with Genovese and knew he was marked for death because he was suspected of being no good when he was solid. So he got paranoid and killed a guy on the yard who he thought was a Genovese goon coming to kill him. That's when Valachi gave up on the life and decided to become a rat to expose the whole thing to the government and public.
@@citypopradioFM you people act like you're the only ones watching these documentaries..you're not sharing any new info..everyone in here binge watches these docs aswell, you are wasting a whole paragraph to give info that everyone has heard over and over and over again
Do you know you can still change the title of your video?
Some people are so dumb you can give them until the next ice age and they'll never figure out simple stuff like that.
They did not kill Frank Costello. They tried but failed.
Real Crime shouldn't resort to cheap click-bait titles...
_"Most feared"_ is Hilarious as well! Vito was _Luciano's_ bodyguard & driver, set-up as 'A boss' to be puppeted by _Carlo Gambino._ After the official Street Boss- _Joe Adonis_ was deported (due to terms of his plea) coincidentally in late 1956.
> And when did the big hits on _Costello_ & _Anastasia_ happen,,, in 1957. Also when RFK (who hated the Mob) was AG, and needed someone to make an example of, via the _Joe Valachi_ psyhop.
WHAT A GROUP OF MASSIVE COINCIDENCES!
Title needs an editor.
Vito Genovese did not kill Frank Costello. He put a contract on Costello but it failed.
Hey u kinda misspelled FEARED in the title thumbnail...js
I remember watching this documentary for the first time in the late 90s early 2000s it’s held up pretty good
is it possible to get rid off that dramatic music and effects who are all louder than any narrator or others speaking in the video, or at least make it the same volume as narrators. Thank you
Does this channel have a documentary on Carmine Glante? He thought he could trust his Silican bodyguards, but they betrayed him. I think it's his fault that he got himself killed due to his greed.
Feared
@@usernotfound-m5e *freind
What's with all the advertisements every couple of minutes it's far too much. Obviously it's the way you make your money but don't be too greedy mate, cut the adds!
it’s “feared” not “feard”
He didn’t kill Frank Costello. Title needs to be changed
He made him retire not killed him
He tried to get Costello killed but did not succeed, if I remember correctly?
In fact, Gigante was widely derided by other Genovese soldiers for missing a shot at point blank range, when he had been practising the hit for a month.
Vito Genovese was afraid of Luciano. And he never killed Costello. Anastasia was way worse than Vito.
This title.
This one's for you, Frank.😊 I ran across this trying to find out how much political Influence uncle bob has in Springfield Mo.😅😅😅
Folks,
Despite the wrong info in the title ("Vito Genovese Killed Frank Costello"), the video itself is top notch. It's from the excellent series "Mafias Greatest Hits" and has nothing to do with the person who uploaded it here. It's also a high quality (high resolution) upload (up to 1.2 GB!)
5 months after the May 1957 failed murder attempt of Frank Costello by Vinny 'The Chin' Gigante under orders from Vito Genovese, Costello ally, the notorious gangster, Albert Anastasia, aka, "Lord High Executioner", was gunned down in a hotel barber shop. This further reduced Costello's hand ( a lot!), all but forcing him to step aside. Anastasia was head of the infamous "Murder Inc".
Sounds to me that Vito Corleone was modeled after Costello.
Narrator sounds like wise guy☝️
I cant even watch this because of the title.
Frank actually became a close adviser to Vito and also to Bufalino when he stepped in at vito's request when he got jammed up.

“Literally blown out of the chair” 34:15
Who’s making these?
Feard?
I have to wonder if they had ordered burgers and brats if it wouldn't have been so suspicious 😂
Why no mention of Anthony Joseph Accardo?
Hello, my name is Ferd. LOLLLLOOLLL
Title is very misleading. Gigante didn't do his job right, but got lucky Costello retired on the heals of the ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
Was the dialogue to difficult for you to understand?
Vito Genovese DID NOT kill Frank Costello. He did issue a "hit" on him, and Costello WAS shot along the side of his head, but it was a basic miss by the shooter, and Costello recovered from the hit (miss). Costello, did , however, decidt to move to Florida and retire from the Mafia, so it a way Genovese did achieve his goal of taking over Costello's mafia boss position.
Most feard? I bet you quit school too.
It's spelled skool

I say we head out to dinner around 8ish?
Ok he didn’t kill Frank Costello as title indicates He had Chin Gigante attempt to kill him but he was barely kicked on side of his head and lived then retired
Title is wrong!
"FEARD"
He didn't kill Costello
He died from a heart attack.
We have the Alfono family, very brutal, they beat a business owner and a father of family with a bat and hanged him on a hook in the broom closet of the family home, he was found by his eldest daughter, 1975
best channel,,,period
Then why did you use commas instead ??
Costello retired, after an assassination attempt. Genovese ordered, but Costello only received light skin wounds on his head.
Vito Genovese never killed Frank Costello, he had Vincent"The Chin"Gigante to do it but failed and only grazed his head and the bullet I believe was lodged in the brim of his Fedora. Frank Costello later claimed he didn't see who shot him. The Chin had supposedly said thanks Frank after he was found not guilty.
"Feard?" 😂
The thumbnail says America’s most feard. Should be an e in there, like Feared.
What, did Genovese do, set up a jumpscare to take effect before he became boss which caused Costello to have a heart attack many years after Genovese became boss? Just exactly how did that killing take place? Inquiring minds want to know.
Vito never killed Frank. This is just embarrassing 🤦🏽♂
JOE VALLACCI BLEW THE WHISTLE.BEFORE OMERTA WAS BOSS.
What's a feard gangster....bahahahahaha.
Is that the one before four.
Vito was on his own since 14 ! He had to be hard!😎👍
Insane
After Vito Genovese died, in 1972 Vito Corleone rose up and took over, including 11 Oscar nominations.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Genovese was not a patriot of the USA while in Italy during WW2. He "switched sides" from Musillini to the Allies when it became "convenient." Genovese was a gun happy idiot who was only concerned with his own promotion and wealth.
Tony Accardo the top boss of the Chicago Outfit, for decades did not attend the 1957 Apalachin disaster. His underling Giancana went there. Accardo was too smart and had ordered a "no drug selling" policy on the Outfit in Chicago and he held Genovese in contempt, and he didn't answer to NYC.
60 big wigs, and Barbera orders 55 lbs. of meat?
Imagine getting busted for ordering 20 lb of steak which is not a lot
it isn't "feard" but "fearEd". feared.
It's kind of a shame the family became known as the Genovese family and not the Luciano family. Genovese was a power hungry dog who wasn't below betraying anyone and everyone to get his way, and he merely took advantage of Luciano's exile to force his way in as boss. The family should've kept Luciano's name considering it was the premier family from the nation's most influential boss.
Feard...
Feard? 🤦♂️
Ok but SILLY graphics
feard? is that feared?
From I see a click bait title I unsubscribe
You forgot the part about where he marries Marilyn Monroe and starts the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team
8:08. This event changed him, and changed him into murdering excrement like never before.
Frank costello died of a heart attack.
The best thing I can say about Vito G. Is he understood a man’s love for their mother.
During the time Vincent the Chin Galante was thugging around with his brothers their beloved mother was in need of a life saving surgery and they didn’t have the money.
Vito admired the potential in all of the brothers especially the Chin so he paid for the surgery and all of the brothers became 100% loyal to Vito.
When Vito asked the Chin to kill Frank Costello he was all too happy to accommodate and place himself and his brothers to be made in the Genovese crime family.
Luckily the bullet grazed Franks temple and he didn’t croak.
The Chin was arrested and he stayed loyal to Omertà as did Costello .
How about that history.
It's Vincent Gigante.
@@19rick44 Thanks, I knew I may have screwed up the spelling.
What a Big We-Todd I can be…
Killed? Weakness is in deception
This is one of the most stupidest title of a Mob history. Frank retired after a non fatal wound
Misleading title. Vito Genovese did not kill Frank Costello but I'm sure the video will say that lol
If you survive a death sentence, youre free to go.
Really bad reporting My cousin arrested him after he was shot by the Chin.
Respect to all the Mobsters❤
It's feared, not "feard"
This mafia oath thing did not seem to mean much, they killed their own for years, made, or not, like an Italian chess game, who is knocking over who, and who becomes king.
"Feard"? Are you kidding?😂 cmon feared isn't that tough

He DID not kill costello
Probably worth listening too,but the jeffing background noise ,unnecessary
Not worth my time watching when you can’t even get the title correct. Costello outlived Genovese
Don't disrespect Costello for the sake of clicks
Going DEAF from the LOUD music.......bye

Yes.
So many people salty about artistic interpretation.
is the copyright up on this? Asking for a friend.
Pretty much zero chance of that, they presumably (& hopefully) licensed it.
This is not true!
FEARED
Frank Costello retired Alive if wounded.
He said that because he was involved with them
What Lolo that never happened
He didn't kill Frank Costello
FRANK COSTELLO WAS ARTICULATE HENCE,HE COULD COMMUNICATE AT ALL LEVELS WITH THOSE IN LEGITIMATE POWER.PAID HIS TAXES AND PLAYED THE NEW YORK CITY GENT.
Inaccurate

How many are here just to angrily say "He didnt kill Costello!" but ended up watching the whole thing, ?
Way to get views 😀
Carmine galante takes that thrown
Never listened to podcast but am offended by title. Costello died in the 70s. It was a botched hit ,bullet grazed him. You either CLICKBAIT or I have Alzheimer's.🥊🥊
Costello killed? Real bullshit.
