    Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

    My very first carp...a common of less than a pound caught in exactly this way, in a small farm pond, around 37 years ago, with a day ticket costing just 50p Still one of the most exciting catches of my angling career. Sadly that farm and pond were bought, the pond was dredged, enlarged and turned into a syndicate water where children are no longer encouraged. Our sport needs ponds like this, with fish like these, where young people can learn water craft and how to be anglers. Thanks for a great, down to earth approach in all your work. Proving that we don’t always need our barrows loaded with £££s of gear to enjoy our sport. 👍🏻

    • @mike_hunt4783
      @mike_hunt4783 Před 3 lety +2

      Tench are really easy to catch, as they like to Burrow themselves in the silt, the best way to catch tench in summer is method feeder or maggot feeder, wouldn't recommend using a maggot feeder on a lake with small fish in it as it'll destroy your bait in a few seconds. And you can also catch tench on a float but I don't use float often for tench fishing. The best bait to use for tench is sweetcorn or a small pop up as I caught loads on a 12mm or a 10mm pop up. Hope this helps

    Amazing video, amazing fish, amazing attitude toward the well-being of the fish. I hope more and more anglers see the videos and start learning how to properly get a fish out of the water and back in without harming it.
    Sadly everywhere I go fishing I see people with 0,40 mm lines, big hooks catching 5 kg (11 pound) fish with the drag completely locked and just reeling like crazy, slamming the fish on the dirt and throwing them back in the water while the fish is bleeding like crazy from their mouth.
    😪

      Totally agree.

    • @michaeldemetriou1399
      @michaeldemetriou1399 Před 2 lety +1

      0,40 mm is about 25lb breaking strain so an (11 pound) fish is unlikely to break it leaving a hook stuck in its mouth. Also the drag on the clutch is to protect the line from breaking and is set to allow line to be taken before it brakes. Allowing a fish to take line is risking the fish going into a snag and getting stuck. Slamming a fish on the dirt is out of order the angler must use an unhooking mat and must have a net.

    • @jSergiu
      @jSergiu Před 2 lety

      @@michaeldemetriou1399 tell that to the majority of anglers in Romania 😢 they use a 0,4 mm just to be able to reel the fish like a log straight onto the dirt and gravel 💔 unfortunately on public waters there is no authority that cares about this if you take pictures and report them. They don’t even do anything about those who use big treble hooks to snag fish, and according to the law it’s illegal and you can do some jail time for it. Even on private lakes in competitions they weigh fish that are bleeding because they fish so close to each other and you get penalized if the fish runs across others line (it’s impossible to let the fish take line and that to not happen)

    • @michaeldemetriou1399
      @michaeldemetriou1399 Před 2 lety +1

      @@jSergiu Some Romanians here in the U.K. steal fish to eat. I don't know how they fish but a back lead will stop fish running into lines you can fish 3 rods 1 foot apart and not get a tangle. sounds like the people you are talking about are not very clued up about fishing.

    Nice little vid and I miss the UK for that kind of fishing. Although my gf. did catch her first carp on Sunday float fishing 3 grains of scorn next to the lilies, it was also testament to the fact it’s 10 times harder in Germany 😕 Why? Because the smallest of roach and rudd have no goat here about nicking the corn off yr hook. So for every carp you catch, you probably rebait and cast about 100 times (and catch 10-20 silvers). It’s not really relaxed fishing. It’s wierd. Dunno why they’re so crazy on sweetcorn here?! Perhaps because it’s also the go to bait here for the majority of pleasure anglers (even in the depths of winter), so the fish probably get used to it, like carp do with boilies? 🤷‍♂️

    I need help! I decided to get a new rod/rods but i am not sure what to get. I want to get a method feeder rod but at the same time i feel like a regular long cast carp rod would be better. Can someone explain to me the difference between method feeder fishing and regular carp fishing, and also give me some tips or help me choose the one that suits me the best?
