I'll describe the recent progress in GLC culminating in its proof in the characteristic zero settings (de Rham and Betti). I'll outline the overall framework, the obstructions that existed until recently, and indicate how they were overcome. This is a joint project with D. Arinkin, D. Beraldo, L. Chen, J. Faergeman, K. Lin, S. Raskin and N. Rozenblyum.
