Thank you so much for the video! The quality of life improvements in XT are realy great. Surge is quickly becoming one of my most favorite synths. It looks minimalistic, but it sounds fantastic and its every component is so customizable, it's crazy.
Also, the fact that it can process audio input as just one of its oscilators allows for all sorts of crazy sound manipulations. For example, just think about what the formula modulator is capable of in this scenario.

Incredibly helpful. If I can fully understand what you’ve said. Only downloaded Surge XT last night, so at the start of a long learning curve. That said, it’s a great synth ‘out of the box’ with a host of factory and user-made presets.
I had hoped it might be possible to come close to the SWAM (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling) plug-ins, but I think that might be beyond the capabilities of Surge XT. Almost certainly beyond my capabilities. but if I can get a flute or sax sound with controllable ‘snarl’, I’ll be very pleased.
What info i'm still looking for:
1. setting up audio-in source in fl studio
2. Alias>Additive>Edit where can i have a more detailed map of overtones and their phase (which seems to be missing). like a Sytrus OSC window
3. Tutorial on making Wavetables. (Also I don't know how to make "oneshot" samples repeat, and a general tutorial about making single vs multiple samples)

Videos you make are such nice presents big and small! Surge and Vital the movies helped me a lot in getting a good picture how to work with those synths. Also the videos about sound design.

Maybe you could make a wee track using nothing but Surge XT to explain the new features. Might be more practical/informative than just running down a list? Just a thought.

sick modulation system. i was already asking myself how to make a modsys look good on parameters that are not knobs and i think you nailed that on those dials

Thanks.Do you know of any good free Granular Synths other than Ribs which I've tried and found it difficult to know what's going on.This seems to be an area not that well served in the open source synth arena but a very interesting one none the less. Maybe you could do a video on this topic, especially if you are able to show a free one we can work with.
Have you thought about doing a say 5 minute sample presentation of some of the unique sounds you've made?
I'm actually planning on getting a nectar panorama t4 so I can tweak a lot of these controls on the controller while I'm crafting sounds!
Brilliant walkthrough of the updates. I saw this video and decided to go back and watch your "movie" edition and I think it's not necessary to do another one. That's just me. What would be cool is if you did an exploratory video about using Surge purely as an audio multi-effect. ie. does it even make sense? Are there some hidden gems? What is the quality like in general? Or is that usage of it a complete waste of time?
I can get latch to.make sounds, but not the modes above it.
Happy with new functionalities but my prefered presets all sound different… any idea why ?

I think SurgeXT is an awesome project, probably one of the best software synths ever created. My issue with it is the relatively awful pack-in patches. They're an ensemble of the worst mid 90's to the mid 00's beat machine and rompler sounds you can find, most are just weird and more SFX bits than actual patches. They really need to work on this and provide some more core and classical banks in my humble opinion.
