I hear this all the time from OSU fans and I live in Ohio.. what makes them think Ohio state is that good this year? I’ve been given little explaination other than they got some 5 star receivers and their defense is really good, and I’ve been told their qb room is looking good, but from the judge of last years bowl game against missou… I’m not impressed. Also, how is this years Ohio state team better than last years? No returning starter at qb and is the defense supposed to be better? And im tired of OSU fans saying “we got so or so recruit we’re gonna be so good next year” stop expecting freshman to make an impact year one. The QB play you saw in that game was for the most part from a guy who isn't going to see the field this year in Lincoln Kienholz. The kid was a freshman who was 3rd string all year and got shoved into the game after Devin Brown got hurt early. Devin Brown probably isn't going to play either except for garbage time. There is no returning starter because McCord was sent packing to Syracuse and Will Howard is now there and he is without a doubt an upgrade. The offense also adds the best RB from the SEC last year in Quinshon Judkins to rotate in with Henderson, who (when healthy) is probably the best returning B1G RB. On top of all that, Day brought Chip Kelly in as OC. Almost everyone is back from the #2 defense in the country last year. One notable exception is FS Josh Proctor who is now gone and replaced by probably the best safety in the college football in Caleb Downs. So yes, the D is expected to be even better. As for new recruits, you aren't wrong generally speaking. There is one major exception this year in WR Jeramiah Smith. The kid is probably going to start day 1 and it certainly doesn't have anything to do with lack of depth in a WR room full of 4 and 5 star studs. It's the best WR room in the country and this guy is just an anomaly. The expectations are extremely high this year and that is not just from OSU fans.

SMU will do no better than 7-5 or 8-4 in year one of ACC football games because the schedule is so navigable and not daunting at all. The schedule for 2025 is equally lackluster compared to what they will face in years to come. Of course this is assuming that the ACC will still be a Power/Autonomy conference and backfilled with qualified candidates who want to compete for national championships and be more than just solid competition and add depth but adding actual strength to the conference.
Die Hard ND fan for 40 years. 10-2 does Not deserve to make the Playoffs. This is the softest schedule I've seen in a long long time. I know alot of fans get unrealistic and say we should be 12-0 every year. But this is actually a year, where it looks legit possible. Texas a&m is the one that scares me. We win that one, and we should be good, and go to at least the second round of the playoffs. Not Natty material yet, but growing stronger each year. Go Irish.
Utah actually went 8-5 in their fist season in the Pac-12 finishing 4-5 in the conference. Not the best season ever, but they didn't struggle like BYU or Cincinnati or Houston did in their respective first season in a P5 conference. I will admit that Utah struggled the next 2 seasons dropping to 5-7 in 2012 and 2013, the last time Utah finished .500 or below.

The offense is more of an unknown with Chip Kelly at OC - but again the talent is crazy. They lose Marvin Harrison Jr and possibly are better at WR this year - that's insane.
