I got to try on the new Sub recently and I was shocked how comfortable and balanced it felt on the wrist. Rolex new exactly what they were doing with making the bracelet wider.

Amazing analysis of the green trio! My favorite is still the original Kermit.

A trifecta of amazing green watches. If I had to choose just one, it would have to be the original Kermit.

Very well done comparison Bear! I agree with you that the Kermit is very classy with the maxi dial on the older 40m case., while the Hulk was nice, it was just too Grn for me and sold mine. Was lucky yesterday my AD called and lucky to get a new Cermit, which is just stunning as you mention. Enjoy! Thanks for the share and work you put into your content!

Yet again Bear delivers! Excellent video brother. I believe you are the 1st to post this amazing comparison. For me, The Hulk is the most iconic of the bunch.

I remember when the green sub was very unpopular. So much so that 2 watches were available in the window of Watches of Switzerland around 2008/9 discounted to around £2800!. Those were the days.

Howdy 🐻 I hope you and family are doing well! The early models had hollow middle links, if you look at them side on you can see straight through... Hence the difference in the quality, though I agree the earlier bracelet is far more comfortable and that's partially due to the weight. Overall the older versions were better balanced in my opinion.

Great video comparison Bear, thank you. I have a Z serial # Kermit from 2006 I’ve owned since new. I think it’s time for me to take it for a service as after 2 days it starts to lose amplitude and seconds.

Three great watches, my favourite got to be the original Kermit with the aluminium bezel, not sure why, I just find it the most attractive. The new "Starbucks" sub is absolute perfection. The Rolex Submariner is I can say is my favourite dive watch, words can't describe how much I love the Submariner, it is most desirable dive watch I know about - many people want one😉

    Awesome as per usual mate!
I prefer the hulk and the Cermit, simply a bit better quality wise, and the bezel colour is more attractive on the Hulk/Cermit. Though of course the first one is always the most iconic one simply for the fact of being first.

What is you guy's opinion on the mark I Batman on oyster steel? Is it a good watch I bought in March of 2018 from my AD at retail for $8,950.00. Been offered 13,500 or will it continue to go up in value due to Batgirl on jubilee? Would really appreciate any advice?

  • @jameshutchison378

The new kermit (sometimes referred to as the Starbucks) is I think the best looking of the watches, not a huge fan of the lime green of the original kermit it's a bit garish for my liking and the hulk face in green (whilst gorgeous) makes it a LOT of watch to wear - the balance of the black face and new green ceramic of the "Starbucks" is excellent as a wearer

  • @andrewholt3849
    @andrewholt3849 Před 3 lety +1

My criteria for a watch is build quality; legibility and waterproof ness, plus hacking seconds and a micro-adjustment tool free clasp.
The 16610LV 2003 50th Anniversary Submariner 'Kermit' debuted the 'Maxi Dial' with larger broader indexes and hands.
For some reason the Americans call the case a 'Maxi Case', instead of a 'Supercase.'
I've got the 2010/11 Rolex A4 style catalogue with UK Rolex RRP/ MSRP October 2010 price list, which had the 50th Anniversary Submariner ceramic 6 digit replacement 116610LV.
In my catalogue, all the Submariners had gone ceramic with the exception of the 'No Date' Submariner 14060 which was updated in 2012, I think with the 6-Digit ceramic upgrade 114060.
It was still the 5-Digit Explorer II your son has: 16570 and it, like the Kermit had adjustment requiring a tool and Fliplock fold out extension links to enable wearing over a diving suit.
I think as with the 6-Digit GMT-Master II ceramic upgrades: the 50th Anniversary 2005 116718LN with green 'GMT-Master II' dial text; green date wheel figures and a green GMT 24 Hr hand: this had upgrades of:
    Parachrom Blue balance spring
    Paraflex shock absorption
Easy link tool free micro-adjustable clasps which were milled and not stamped.
I prefer the Supercase of the 'Hulk' 116610LV:
Aesthetically and for longevity and build quality.
I think the new black dial provides a greater contrast to read the hands and indexes.
If it was a targeted replacement for the Kermit, fine, but I think that was an afterthought and Rolex being unimaginative just changing the dial to black. However it was a movement upgrade with ceramic bearings for the rotor instead of what Tim Mosso was calling a 'jewelled staff.'
He has been watching Paul Thorpe.
They all watch the competition which is why you were targeted by AC3's Rodent 1 recently in a 'pile on' for comments you probably correctly made a full sincere apology for, as you supported AC3 who highlighted the probably 4-digit mark up of certain merchandise.
You don't want people like Teddy Baldasaire reviewing watches and then flogging you tie watches and accessories.
I mean, why would you want them over a multi-National company's versions like Omega or the excellent Blancpain?

Love the tune and the watch porno glamour intro. original KERMIT still my favorite but the CERMIT brings the goodness of a modern submariner. Buying NEW get the CERMIT, Preowned get the KERMIT. After discontinuation, the HULK looks like a novelty Rolex.

Great analysis and information on the sub model.
I am simply not as impressed by the Rolex Sub as others, the color scheme I do like is the two tone with the blue dial. I own a seadweller but when it comes to the submariner, I do not have one nor will, I prefer my Omega seamaster and the three Tudor's I own which are the BB and pelagos
